Umm.. that's a 2 hours Stress Test from what I read...not Open Beta:
Dear Community. Before we move on to the open beta and then release shortly after, we need your help with a massive initial stress test early next week.

I fix'd it, they are supposed to have a new patch before the stress test occurs so that client will be out of date. The patcher is slower than the torrent and they will have a new link up for a direct download.

Thanks for the heads up, will surely be helping with the stress test, though the title should be renamed (I thought it was a full OB :P).
There should be a news headline to help rallying people for the stress test, with possibly a bonus of two hours of gameplay :P

I understand that... but this thread is named Mor(t)al Online Open Beta. I wanted folks to realize it was a 2 hour stress test and not the actual open beta.

Edit - Not anymore. How do we sign up? Is it just for any account even if my account says 'Status : NONEXISTENT'
Just tried, no issues. It goes right to the "Mortal Online steps", then the "create an account" goes right to the forms to fill out.
Were is the best place to download the cliant? I live in Sweden so dl it from Texas sounds a bit hardcore. Is the common SV dl ok?
Im actually not quite sure how they are doing this. The patcher system currently has a "login" to be able to access it and I doubt until they enable non activated accounts that you can use it. I would say use the torrent if you want to download now. It will obviously depend on how many people are seeding the last patch. Then you can upgrade whenever they allow you to use the patcher, or you can download the newest torrent (again).
Use the torrent for best speed. A friend just downloaded with his 100 mbit/s connection and he got a speed of about 5.5MB/s. With my 8 mbit/s i got 800 kB/s, which is as fast as it ever goes for me.
The normal DL is the torrent, the game server is in sweden. The patcher is slower than the torrent for obvious reasons.
Use the link in the post that I made above and you can see your options. Either way downloading it now and then patching is gonna be a pain, so just get the torrent like everyone else once they release the newest patch.

I foresee a lot of aggravated players trying to get into the game or getting severe lag/crashes/lock-ups. I also foresee Mortal Online going "Kaaa BOOOOM!" and being down for many hours, maybe days. Heh.
Oh well, if this helps them for a final launch, then so be it. I'm all for it.

Wouldn't be surprised if that happens as the sole reason for this test is to make the server burn. So the game will most likely be unplayable during this test.
The more they crash the game during the stresstes tthe better. Thats how they get better feedback and can solve more problems : )

I signed up but the only options they have are to buy the game, no option to signup for any beta

Once you make the account you are registered to participate in the stress test without purchasing the client.
Also, what was announced is NOT open beta. It is a stress test. Its only going to be during a few hour window on a certain day that has yet to be announced. They want the server to crash. They want to keep crashing it. There will likely be no chance to actually play, but that isn't the purpose. They are just trying to get the server in better shape for when they do have open-beta.

I honestly think this is a scheme to get a certain percent of the people who visit for "Stress test" to input their credit info and buy the game.
You could be right, stress tests always come at the end of open beta not at some random point in a closed beta.
Stress test means they are going to try crashing the server. So it will lag/crash lots.
To get a better view of the game join open beta when it goes live.
A stress test is supposed to make things go boom so they know when boom happens.
