End game... tihi... in Star Trek Online...? LOL

There is no end game my friend, as muchas there is no start game, or middle game... only buggs, unpolished trash and linear stupidity that will make your IQ drop more levels than you gain in game.

Ive never seen anything this unfinished, unpolished and so expensive to buy... its amazing, its a new world record!

Hate the loading screens to, but willing to put up with them.

You seem to want to love this game so bad that your willing to yell at anyone who will listen. I don't know if you've personally invested your self identity into this game. But you really need to step back and look at what you are doing and how you have become the biggest apologist for STO. Paid or unpaid your comments are repetitive trolling.  So did you get the lifetime subscription and the collectors editions, and I mean all of them so you get all the extras. That should come out to like $500 by the time your done.

as much as i hate it, i'll have to agree on this... i can't even imagine an end game in a game like STO (at least in the state in which it is right now).

One would probably say that getting an Emissary Class vessel would be end game... but meh...

Yeah I have to agree here lol. CO set the bar lower than it's ever been before really and STO apparently wanted to one up CO and set it even lower.

To make up for being an even shallower game with little content they decided to be nice and only charge you $300 or so for the life time sub this time around oO.......

I still can't get over that lol, $240 for a life time sub act now or it jumps to $299 and you lose the borg lol.

Ironically one of the biggest problems with CO is that you dont really feel like a Super Hero anywhere. However I think STO is a superior and more appropriate experience than CO if only because the landing party avatar has a slightly different mechanic to your spacecraft avatar (its not much but such is the profound lack of anything that changes CO's world experience a single alternative in STO makes for a big improvement.)

For me STO was always going to be difficult to make work, a traditional MMO and Star Trek's concepts/philosophy are not really compatible, I was dissapointed when I saw the 'at war' scenario being used, but I guess it was inevitable and hence designing it as a theme park now seems curiously appropriate, it isn't enough to make me want to play because I want that rarest of MMO traits an immersive and involving experience...but the one area Cryptic/Atari are due full credit for is their willingness to provide free trials early in a games life - players should go make their own mind up, yeah theres a lot of hate flying about, theres also a lot of fanboism, but its actually easy to skip such posts and ignore...one mans meat is another's poison - there is no substitute for going and taking a look for yourself.

Nail, meet head.  This is the problem so many can not grasp. I think too many vocal posters here assumed that STO would be a cross between Second Life & Elite.

Well, what I mean to say is that the ship plays like a normal MMO toon - third person, a quickbar, items to slot and some extra abilities (your bridge officers).
And even on high settings space looks very underwhelming, somehow. Ground combat was ok, so far - just very standard MMO fare.
We'll see where it goes from here - at least the tutorial mission was, so far, quite ok - but that doesn't say much about the game as a whole, does it..

Space combat feels nothing like normal MMO combat.

Is that really your worst fear? Hmmm you're lucky. My worst fear is being invaded by alien slug-spiders who capture everyone and then bury them deep underground in tiny coffins and wait for everyone to decompose slowly so they can feed off our squishy remains. I suppose a bad mmo being released is kinda scary though.

I agree with OP. Game's fun in short bursts but it's nothing special. Same missions structure that in CO, very repetitive, and mostly combat content. I'm level 8 and already bored.

Can't believe so many ppl are buying lifetime sub for this.

Seriously, did no one here ever look at Bridge Commander? Why couldn't Cryptic have taken a look at that game?

    I cant belive you guys...LOL

You start your whinny posts saying that you know the game is in BETA, and then proceed to cry about all the missing content...LOLOL... you guys dont have a clue do you!

They turned off a bunch of content and left the combat on, so they can stress test the server and look for bugs, why?  .... yes, because its BETA!!!!

And even though you know this, you still spend so much time, writting up large posts just to cry about it...hahahahaha its so hilarious!!

I also noticed, all of the whinny posts come from WoW players... not surprised at all.

Nope they didn't turned off all other content except combat, only limited the leveling zones till 16. But anyway if you expect high level content to be any different than lvl 16 content then you will be dissapointed.

That is an straight up lie! You are definitly some WoW fanboy trying to kill the game... so sad.

The closed beta players already confirmed that much of the content, especially the higher tier stuff, was turned OFF for the open beta testing. Try reading the official forums.

You guys cant even Troll right... hahaha

    1. Defends the company blindly using the beta excuse. CHECK.

    2. Multiple use of LOL and HAHAHA to try and insult those he disagress wityh. CHECK.

    3. Uses WOW in a negative light to try and discredit those who do not like the game. CHECK.

    4. Very few posts, all in fanboish defense of STO. CHECK.

Okay sarcasm aside, the beta excuse doesn't work any longer. And seriously, an open beta is meant for a stress test, nothing more. History has proven in recent years that what you get in open beta is what you get with release. Yes, even WOW had issues in open beta and at release. Mythic, Funcom and Cryptic all promised major patches that would fix the game or improve it from beta to release...and nothing happened. Well, except in the case of Champion's Online where the patch nerfed everything into oblivion and caused many faithful followers and testers to leave for good.

So by all means, keep using the beta excuse, it has worked so well before.

So you admit WoW was buggy at release, fail to mention that it went on to become a very popular MMO, then go back to saying STO will never be good because its buggy.

    Amazing circular logic... hahahahaha

I've been watching this parade for some time now. I'm playing STO and have a simple statement to make. Anyone who thinks STO is just like CO should get real.

    [Mod edit]

And it comes back to faith. I had faith in Blizzard to fix the game. After CO, I have no faith in Cryptic at all.

This is my point exactly, the design and style are not what you expected, doesnt mean the game is no good.

I can understand your lack of faith, I had the same faith in Mythic, and I was totally blown away when I saw how bad WAR was. My faith is now almost gone with Mythic, but it looks as if EA had practically dismantled the company already so it doesnt matter...haha.

If the game is not for you guys, then please just go away, why ruin it for the rest of us???

Yeah i'm a little disappointed as well, and I forsee a disasterous launch to say the least. Consider that no one is even able to test the other races aside from Klingon, and there's a huge amount of bugs just in the 12 levels of federation i've played, and we're 2 weeks out from final release. This game is not ready, that's for sure, and I wish more companies would take a hint from Bethseda Studios when it comes to making a game. Release it when DONE, not when it's fitting your marketing needs. I realize a MMO is never 'done' but you can sure set an example and put your standards a bit higher than others.

As far as the gameplay, the planetary scenery is beautiful but very early on the missions feel extremely repetetive considering 95% of misisons are search&destroy, and the rare mission when it's not, it feels like a copout just to say "not every mission is S&D, we gave you this one mission where you fixed 6 satellites and left orbit!". Yeah the mission was also the shortest ever and required 0 brainpower. It also feels like an extremely cheap tactic to sell lifetime subs with such potent bonuses only up to the day before final release, so I can't even judge the game completely before I want to take advantage of such a deal..  only the super-obsessive ST, or the uber-Cryptic fanboys will judge the game solid enough to pay for lifetime. It actually turns my stomach quite a bit because I do love Star Trek dearly and I WANT to like this game that much.

Then give it a chance every mmo thats come out has had these problems, even WoW sucked balls when it first came out (still dose but thats just my personal view lol) for server load, lag, game bugs and glitches. No MMO has ever been realised working perfectly or any closeness to it. Patients my young padawan... and all will turn out for the best or not, but dont judge a game before it's even had time to mature.

Eve rocks! If you don't like it your a a 12 year old, or have the mental age of one, with the attention span of a goldfish! We are so glad your not screwing up the greatest MMORPG to date! Or of course you just might not like this kind of game ;D ...weirdo’s!

I would agree, but not at that cost of paying $50 to see how far it hasn't come from open beta.

Server bugs, bugged missions, and glitches don't bother me, those usually end up getting fixed.

Instanced everything, extremely repetitive mission design, no meaningful crafting, no true Z axis, very small/limited space in sectors, all of those are what many perceive as weaknesses in game mechanics, and have no chance of being "fixed", because by definition, they are there literally by design.

All for $50 + 15/mo and a planned cash shop.

I have quite enough $50 coasters, and a couple were ST games, even.
