Following the shut down of game servers for Hellgate: London in January of '09, HanbitSoft has now acquired the rights to publish the game from Namco Bandai and intends to return Hellgate: London to service in the US & Europe later this year.
The game will be appropriately named "Hellgate: Resurrection" and has been in development by T3 Entertainment since July '08.

Interesting, you dont normally hear about games returning from the grave after they went bust. Hopefully they will address the issues people had originally and make it the fun co op game it should have been. I wonder if people who own the original will get to just jump back in free of charge or will have to buy a new game.
My Guild Wars 2 Vids
I've done nothing but cry and complain about how Bill Roper dropped the ball, and let FSS die along with my favorite, and most addicted to multiplayer rpg.
I have to pinch myslef, and checked... it's not April!
will it still be online 64 bit(cheer)
piinnccchy!

There was a reason why this game was canceled you know. Just because a few people like it does not mean much as there are plenty of people who still love the original PONG game.....
This will get dropped again.
Im very happy about this.........as long as the core problems have been fixed I will play this game.
Currently Playing: Fallen Earth
Played and liked: TCOS, Vanguard, Guild Wars, DDO
Played and didn't like: CO, MO, STO, DF, AoC, WAR, WoW, EQ2, EVE, most f2p
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, Secret World
I died because Bill Roper mismanaged his company, not because the game was bad. This game's graphics still out do most of the mmo's out today, so ur pong reference seems a bit shallow.
Please don't beat the dead horse. It's dead for a good reason. Please stop beating it. Its really inhumane to beat the dead horse now it's flesh has fallen off and there is nothing but bones left. The dead horse is not going to get up and you let you ride it. It's dead. Is there some part of dead you don't understand? Jeesh, please people, don't be so cruel. Let the dead horse lie.
I'm old not dead. (Nov8tr is pronounced innovator)
Now here is the million dollar question, what about players who have the old retail boxes of HGL will we have to rebuy copies or what?
Probably the only bad part of this deal, yeah I bet we would have to rebuy it. It would be nice though if Namco gave them their old servers with all our old character data, but that would be asking too much imo.
I would probably buy the box or download it and pay though, ... I still play my single-player version religiously.
if it stays 64 bit !it will outshine any of the newest game made be it lotro or aion.since wath is preventing game from maxing their computer setting isnt the computer but the fact most game are 32 bit limiting the possble setting for most computer to medium since anything higher and you get ton of various issue including lag.
Yay, this makes me happy!
I think because it's mostly instanced/dungeon crawler, similar to Diablo 2 but in 3rd/1st person is why they can get away with that, and risk very little lag.
I think I"ll get on single-player to get my fix, lol.
These are picks from the early Korean Hanbitsoft version... I noticed the Blademaster is holding a 2-handed sword... hot!
Considering this line in the article ''The newly named Hellgate: Resurrection has been in development with T3 Entertainment since July 2008, with new features added and a free-to-play business model. ''
Most likely you will have to buy the game again or at least pay something, but you never know.
wasnt this all open world?rumor were false then?
I see no news on the US T3 site?

A quote from the article: "The game will release in China, Taiwan and South East Asia first, with North America, Europe and Japan to follow."
That would be my guess why didn't say anything yet. So China, Taiwan, and South East Asia get it first. I'm so jealous.
As I said before, it will be something to play until Diablo 3 gets here. It should be interesting to see how the game pans out.
YES YESS YESSS!
My fiance and I loved playing through HG:L the first time, and now we can play together again!
Time to resurrect my Marksman...
Tbh, I didn't quit Hellgate because of the graphics, on the contrary, a lot of the artwork was well done.
I quit because of the repetitiveness of it all, which was ridiculous even for a hack&slash:
Couple that with a first play-through as a blademaster, a class that played out like a psychopathic Japanese chef with scissorhands chopping up a bunch of pork sausages.
Sadly this was about as fun as pushing tomatoes and cucumbers into a kitchen mixer all day while keeping the button pressed with an ever more aching shitfinger.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
Might give this game a try.
Since it is in development, I wonder what they are fixing and what they are adding, if anything?
I played the demo of HGL and the graphics were horrible. How can you say they are better then most MMOs? Did I miss something? That was the main reason i dropped the game as an option. There is no reason a game can not have good graphics and good game play in this day and age. Please don't say its affordability. Graphics cards mid range cost like $75 dollars now online. And if you still don't have enough money then stop smoking, doing drugs and drinking and save up your money. Peace.
The Gamasutra article is way different kind of making it seem like NEXT YEAR at the earliest:
"We would like to thank Namco Bandai Games America for allowing us to acquire the Hellgatepublishing rights and are thrilled to have eager gamers worldwide return and enjoy the franchise," says HanbitSoft CEO Kee-Young Kim.
"Hellgate: Resurrection is heading towards success in Korea such that we decided to push ahead with launching the game overseas next year. We will do our best to get the game to the fans as soon as possible."
