So for the past 6 months or so I've been on this wild frenzy searching for the perfect MMO. I have played everything pay to play on the market. I don't really get into the whole f2p thing. Then, i realized. It's not the games. Aion and Fallen Earth are both really cool in their own ways. It's me, I am burned out. So I went and picked a few games up at gamestop. Borderlands, CODMW2, and The Saboteur. I installed borderlands first, and have played nonstop for six hours. So I'm taking some time off from the MMO genre. Maybe I'll log into Aion and grind the last 5 lvls to 50 in a couple of months. Maybe not. Maybe, this will help drain some of the MMO crack from my blood, and I can start finding other things to do.
PS. I jogged today! (How f!#%ed up is that S@$t.)

Haha, "Udderly.." Good stuff bro.
I understand how you feel entirely. I find myself able to play hours of TF2 or any RTS style game and find enjoyment, but when it comes to an MMO I can't stick with one for more than a month, sometimes less.
lol, good stuff but I still say the problem is the crack hasn't been good enough for me
When I get bored of MMO's I make and play pinball games.. sounds goofy till you load it up and start whacking the silver balls around. I guarantee you won't be able to stop playing once you start 8 )

This is because those games have good core game mechanics, while MMOs have poor game mechanics but lots of content.
i know i'm late, but i didn't have a rig to run mass effect when it came out. downloaded it off of steam saturday and have been enjoying the hell out of it. haven't had that much fun in a game in a long time.
i'm subbed to fallen earth at the moment but like a lot of people, i'm just getting burned out on "mm moos"
get it? udderly?
ok i'll stop.
Now that you mention it; it has been Oblivion, Dragon Age, Borderlands, Over Lord, etc that have been getting 90% of my game time. I still find my self surfing the MMORPG boards looking to see if some one found a gold nuget burried some where or some news of some new MMO that might peek my intrest but ya the stand alones have been winning the fight.
Dragon Age, Borderlands, and Arkham Asylum for me, and I am in the exact same situation. I really couldnt have worded it better.
Same here, ever since I dropped my last sub back in September, I've been playing single-player games and enjoying them a lot more than MMOs. I've played or re-played through Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Half-Life, Half-Life 2 (plus chapters), Bioshock, Mass Effect, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dead Space, etc. They give you the ability to get in, get something done, actually accomplish something in the game and get out, that's what I really want out of a game right now, something I can go and play and have immediate fun in without having to spend hours staring at a screen bored and trying to force myself to go grind some more.
Unless MMOs seriously improve, I've lost any interest in ever playing them again.
Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
Now Playing: None
Hope: None
Some boat as you. I play Team Fortress 2, and Left for Dead 2. I got pretty bored of "point and click" type MMOs.. Then I tried Darkfall and that has brought my excitement back to MMOs. It might be exactly what you are looking for if you want a thrill and challenge.
Yup...I`m there too... I"m glad I work at gamestop and I"ve been checking games out because if I couldn"t I"d be going crazy.... Been playing Fallen Earth to kill time every so often.. Just been playing Darksiders, Borderlands ( 2nd play through ), MW2, saboteur, and other random games. I"m waiting for FFXIV and I want it SOOOOOO badly...and I"m pissed I"m not getting a beta invite to APB.
Excellent post
There is a lot we can all gain from taking time off. I myself had to break and did a little mindless MTG: ONline for a month. Man that was great. PLaying an MMO is different than console or stand alone games ...there is always a feeling of responsibility and 'keeping up with the jonses' that makes you feel a requirement to log on and play as often as possible
JOgging FTW
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Me too. Purchased a PS3 last fall and as time goes by im finding myself playing single player games more and more. Id forgotten how liberating it is to beat a game and be finished with it. I still play LOTRO but I cant recall the last time I logged into an MMO for more than two consecutive days.
Yep, same here. For the last 10+ years I've played only one game at a time, one mmo or another. Over the last couple years mmo's have slowly been fading, so I bought an XBOX a couple months ago and have been having a lot of fun with Dead Space, Halo, Assassins Creed, and I still have Gears of War, Oblivion, GTA IV + more in the wings.
I don't see going back to MMO's for a long time (MAYBE star trek online, or MAYBE star wars next year, but that's a looong way off)
Currently playing: Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 on the PS3.
Awesome.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
Currently playing X-Com TFTD and Torchlight.
