I tried to do the arc with a friend, so he made a fleet for us, but when he warped us to the mission locations, only he could complete the objectives. This really put me off. Did we do something wrong or are these arcs solo only? because if they are this is pretty lame.
Any help would be appreciated.

When doing missions, only the person who originaly accepted the mission gets the 'credit' for the mission. Any fleet members will, however, share in the LP, and ISK rewards, as long as the person turning in the mission choses to share.

nope, you don;t have to do the epic arc solo, you can do the quests together
You can also warp together.

Then this is the biggest bullshit ever. If you can still bring a friend at least to help, there is no reason for not allowing the friend to also complete the mission. This put me off in ways I didnt think EVE could tbh.

We did warped together, but only my friend could complete the objectives, and we were on the same stage of the arc. So no, we cant do the missions together. We have to be in our own little seperate instance.

Meh.. I dont see it as a problem. What you some people do is each fleet member request a mission, then the fleet warps off and blitzs all of them and turns them in sharing the LP, isk, oh and you can share standings boost as well, forgot to mention that.
It's the way EVE is, there are things about it I don't like, but overall the game rocks....

what about if someone in your fleet canceled your mission while you were half way through it. Costing you standings/rewards and whatever loot and salvage the mission could have dropped?
Basically one character accepting a mission being the only one to complete the mission for themselves or on behalf of the fleet is a simple mechanic of control for the mission. Once a character accepts a mission it is their mission to complete however they wish.

yeah but that also means that if you're playing EVE with a friend and you both want to actually complete the objectives together, sorry you cant. I have to go in my own little instance and he has to go in his own little instance. Its lame.

This is one of the many failing to Eve, all this crap from the Devs and GMs about making eve as real to life as possible when it comes to the scamming and isk sellers is just a bunch of horse Manure*which I swear the smoke*, to all the nerfing and other excuses to the game. What about the Survielance missions, now that cloak ships are in game, why aren't there missions that take advantage of these abilities and actually have survialance missions, same with alot of other content. its the same with other real life events, good example of this is the fact that in the world, sometimes do to wars, borders change, and, the landscape changes on how people see that, but, not in Eve, there are static Borders, no empire will "Raid" another ajoining system territory for more space. It just goes to show you how linear these people can only think, Combat and PVP are all that CCP knows and cares about. But, even with all thier faults, you can't dispute that Eve is a wonderful game. but, after 7 years, i hate to say this, but, they really need to start some serious innovation of the game, even adding more hull lines for the ship catagoeries.
And, to all you doubters and trolls out there who say I know nothing of Eve. I would suggest you look up my character name ingame..
Your problem, Bax, is that you misunderstand the game. The game is NOT about PvE...at all. They spent the minimal time necessary to put out the meager number of missions that they have, and, if you call them out on it, I think they would admit that to you. They are not ashamed, and would tell you that this game is about PvP, not PvE. They put a little PvE in there as a way for new players to get started, and for players to earn ISK in order to buy and lose ships and mods in PvP.
If you are playing this game for PvE, you are not going to enjoy this game; you will ALWAYS have complaints about it. PvE in EVE is shallow, and is only there for a specific reason, and that reason is NOT enjoyment of PvE.
hold up there, you can both do the same mission. One just handles the paperwork.
in fleet you can warp to fleet member and help your friend complete the mission.
all npc bounties will be divided over the fleet members. The mission reward can be split along with standings increase and loyalty points as long as the share mission rewards with fleet check box is clicked on completing the mission.
also, it is not an instance. any player in the game can scan you down and interact (in a positive or negeative way) while you are in the mission.

Depends how you look on it, I understand your view but to me you can do them together (with more then 1 person, not solo)
Just have to do them twice if you both want to complete
It is not really different from needing some item drop and having to kill the mob multiple times, so everyone in group has the item drop in the end
remember though, completing is often not important, only with arcs and there aren't that many arcs
Im not talking about sharing rewards, im talking about share a common mission objective.
On another topic, I just got dc'ed from EVE and lost all the cargo in my freighter, which is cute. Filed a petition and wonder how many weeks will it take for them to respond to me this time. I say this time, because my first petition ever was three weeks ago and I still didnt get a response to that either.
I think Im getting hit with all the EVE shit today...

sharing a common mission objective is easy, your friend asks you to help with the mission.
If you want some paperwork, i guess your friend could write you a an e-mail so that you could agree in writing.
just do the mission again, just warp to his mission instead of going to yours. You'll get more rewards that way as well.

I can understand the general complaint. I mean, up until the mission arc, it might be luck of the draw if you and your friend both managed to get the same mission from the same agent. With the arc, you can both be on the same step of the chain right? So, why shouldn't the objective be shared? Now, I can see where a system of sharing the objective might be abused so there would need to be other checks in place, but it would seem like a fairly standard PvE mechanic. I say this knowing that EvE is more geared for PvP, but it certainly doesn't hurt to take a critical look at features from time to time.
Perhaps this discussion would be better suited to the Features and Ideas forum on the official site: www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp. Worst case, you get the same response there and life goes on right?

Umm.....Faction warfare buddy, i've done high sec raids, ive taken systems in the name of the Caldari and Amarr Empire...the borders changed and can be taken back. If you want 'real' territory control go to 0.0 derp.
Caldari 'won' and the space taken from the Gaylente was auctioned off to Caldari NPC corps...so the whole " no empire will "Raid" another ajoining system territory for more space." is utter BS...b/c it happened. Source: http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=3313&tid=4
you must be daft.....controlling empire borders never change? have you looked into factional warfare?
