Sounds like a two-edged sword to me.

On the one hand reassuring for all those who were in doubt whether this game was a scam or not.

On the other hand frustrating to see how little is included for the money you paid.

It takes a lot idealism to support indy mmorpgs nowadays.

Did it not even come with a key code if not how can you play it anyhow.

I think most people realised that the game could not be a scam in the sense that there was no game but rather because what is the game is so little of a game.

Box shows that they have spent a minimal amount of money on the box, which is ok I guess, but also indicates how low on fund they really are.

Well I got the key when I pre-ordered (I think). So hopefully that key will be valid for launch.

Btw. 5 GB download after you install from the dvd so I guess whatever client is on there is very old or they got a weird patching system.

I got a beta invite when I pre-ordered but havent bothered to use it much. 6 months ago I did a check and estimated the game to be in alpha stage.

Tried it again a couple of times and the game has improved but still way too rough for release I would say. UI is pretty poor and key mapping quite limited. Also there is no newbie guide which will make it tough for new people to know where to start and no "its a sandbox game" is not an excuse for not helping people get started.

Actually that box look really cool (made by brutal metal).

I think they wanted to much with the box and make something no one else ever have made. That box can't be cheap to produce. They could have done as all other game companies, making a cheap plastic box. Having a manual would have been nice but, seriously I never read them.

Their original plan was not to have a box or lot bag at all, but people wanted it. And it costs lots of money to produce small number of boxes and in combination with that expensive metal solution, the price became high.

Now they are probably not going to produce any more boxes at all but just having Down loadable versions.

I hope I get my box today.

I am very optimistic about the game thou. I have lots of fun large potential and with more content (lore and more mobs) it will be really great.

The forest around Fabernum looks great now with the grass and the gazelles around there. I will fir sure subscribe to MO after release.

Yamota, the GUI have been improved lots just the last weeks. I agree it was bad before, now it's much much better. Martin Khupski on SV will even improve it further.

When you start the game they have now included a help guide. If you press H you get a help manual.

If I would be you I would give it a try of about a month or soo when they have added more into the world. I think you will like it then.

I think it depends on that whats on the disc is not compressed. It can also be that on the disc they have of content on that disc that have not yet been activated yet. Who knows ... and does that really matter?

On the contrary if you played early EVE online thats exactly what CCP did to the players. And in all honesty for the bigger things in EVE it was find out for yourself with no manual to help you. DFO did the same with trying to keep any info of the game and how things worked to a minimum. This practice is used quite a bit for the more hardcore games out today, and I personally love it.

Although there is a noobie guide on the forums to give you an idea of how to start and what to do. Just have to look for it.

No, the game isn't released today, it's still beta for those that have pre order. Devs have talked about a stress test to try crash the servers and also an open beta. But we will see ...

    Are you fucking serious? LOL

Games have metal cases all the fucking time AND they come with manuals and other shit AND they're cheaper than the price of that piece of shit MO box costs you.

Take the rose colored glasses off and wake up to reality. You're happy and content with what you get for the price, more power to you. But don't try to sit here like the devs of MO sent a box made of gold with encrusted jewels when they sent something of less quality for more money than any other company out there.

Well. Then just not buy the game will ya? Like 97% of all games I purchased was ugly plastic cases. Indeed there was a big fat manual. I have used it many times to start my bonfire, that is how much time I spend with the manual, lol!

I love the box. Real metal, really good quality. And the art (scratches) and so on.. mmmmm love it!

Has anyone seen DF's box to compare? =)

Why is it sad? Everyone in here seems to talk about it ^^

Well, I think that is better than: "HEY DF IS A BAD GAME, AND THE BOX IS PAPER/PLASTIC"... lol. Just had to =P

.....I'm sorry but your actually complaining about this when you were one of the people that complained you didn't get your box in september, what the hell did you think you were going to get. They went into the future and got the final version than came back in put it in the box, of course its going to be unfinished. People freaking amaze me I mean seriously wtf.

Take the shit stained colored glasses off, mass producing a metal box is totally different than producing 10k boxes. Go try and order a single metal box like that and tell us how much it costs. People really amaze me, theres going to be a big different in price when comparing 200k boxes to 10k and to be honest more than likely the number is going to be larger than 200k.

Bleh Selling a beta box reminds me of when i was young and dumb, got caught up in the hole Age of Mourning/ Realms of torment scam and paid for the beta. got a cool little burned disk in the mail with the beta client in a plain plastic case. Needless to say i haven't done such a thing since. A 1 time screw over from a game company is about all i can take. If the game releases and doesn't end up something like Tabula Rasa i might give it a try. After all it is "supposed " to have the things i found lacking from DF such as a skill cap. Meh anyway for all you new guys that aren't old enough yet here's info about it.

This hole MO thing just rings to much the same kind of thing for me to trust it just yet. Maybe after it releases for a few months.
