This is sorta a vent thread about all those people who are screaming I am prematurely canceling my pre-order.
This is what i have to say to each and everyone of you who don't like STO.
WE DONT CARE!!!!!!! We like STO. She is like a good women, even her faults grow on you. Yes ground combat sucks, they failed miserably in that respect we know this heck anyone who has played ground combat at this point knows this, but what you dont know is that as you get on into the game the 2shot kill doesnt happen anymore. Later in the game as people start to spec for proper ground combat it become more tactical(it really does) i still dont like ground combat but hey I love Space combat enough not to give 2 spunk about it.
We all know the game is missing klingon content which will be coming 30-45 days after launch. If you played any beta in any game in the last 5 years we all know about OB problems. If you base your entire opinion on 16 levels then begone. You and your ilk of OMG DONT BUY THIS GAME can just leave because we dont want you.
Space combat doesnt let me dive straight up for down, its a choice the devs made and I for one things its better than the alternative. Why you ask because if you had full control to turn straight up or down Cruiser and Science ships with be even more under powered compare to Escort. A good escort can already own a science or cruiser, if you gave them anymore advantage it would completely mute the use of them.
I feel a top and bottom shield as well as a 360 shield would have been a good idea but again that would have made the interface a little difficult when boosting power to shields.
This game is a Re-skinned version of CO. No its not. If that was the case the ground combat would be alot better. So the way you report bugs is the same. Personally i like that system because it allows me to look and verify if anyone has reported the bug and find a fix without having to exit or minimize to look for a fix or workaround on the forums etc..
Feds get better access to equipment. This is true they know, they are working on it. The level cap with also alleviate this because klingons will get more PVE grind instance to get good greens/blues. But but I dont want to grind. Every game has a grind, this is how the decided to make this one, it may or may not change we can only wait and see, hopefully Klingon will get that much needed LOVE Patch a month after launch.
LAG!!!! Yes lag is an issue with every game, because they got a much higher response to the OB then expected. If thats true or not who cares, they now know they limitations of the equipment and can/are getting more. Not everyone in OB will be in the Early start or the game at all your one of them WOOT WOOT LESS LAG FOR ME OR NO LAG FOR ME.
The skills are explained well enough. This is true im some cases a little more explaining could be done, but if you pay attention to the terminology that they use for ground/space it become evident which is which. Ex: When it mentions away team it definitely means ground, its sort of a dead give away if you really pay attention.
They changed the cap from 50 to 45 and now its not unlimited skill points. Well here i have to agree with you that SUX but its not game ending. Just pay a little more attention to what you are doing and maybe ask you friends/guildies read online maybe and im sure your bright enough to be able to figure it out. Why did 10ton know before we did, good question I dont know its new news, it maybe a mistake or it may just be on the drawing board. We dont know until Cryptic says something. Heck they maybe just testing the waters to see how people react to it. Another point is that they may have made it to where you get alot of skill points after you cap but just not unlimited, that way you cant max every skill but alot of them. They also said they plan on releasing new skill every month or so, if that comes to pass then they will have to give us enough time to test the waters right, so we should be getting more than enough to get by with a mistake here and there.
Well I think I am done. I cant think of any other reason as to why you would do an OMG PRE CANCEL Post. Well I can think of 1 more reason, You need attention. Like a child who doesnt care if they get good attention or bad attention, anything will do. I will probably get a warning for this but I dont care, I am not specifying or insulting anyone. Its the gods honest truth, something is wrong with people who make these posts. Negative press based on good reliable facts is fine but the Troll of the matter is the posts that I am talking about arent based on reliable facts they are just people complaining for complainings sake.

Some people are trying to figure out if they can get a refund from online purchases and if they have used the beta key. Seeing as many people seem to be in the same boat, it stands to reason to ask on the forums.

TBH,i never thought the game would be good,sorta like KoTR. Hype ruin's games. The beta reminded me too much of eve for me to care about Startrek.
however having said that,i hope you enjoy the game.
Or maybe someone is trying to inform other like-minded people, why they didnt like the game? Not everyone has the same opinion as you, so if someone wants to make a "I cancelled my pre-order post" who cares? Some people may very well share the same ideas and go cancel theres as well for the same reason. Or someone may disagree and keep theres. No reason to get upset about it.
I am all good. I just felt like venting on people who gripe and moan about cancelling the pre orders.
To answer the other comment about valid point for refunds etc.. if you are buying something and dont know you right wells that your own fault for not reading(self absence of knowledge is not an excuse). Most people who pre ordered used a credit card. Buyers remorse is also a poor excuse. Alot of video of gameplay have been out since before CB, if you didnt take the time to see what the game was like then its again your fault for not educating yourself.
If you just want to try to get your money because you dont like the game, its not what you thought it might be. Well thats your choice, WTF does it have to do with anyone in this forum. What you want help cheating your way out of a bill? Honestly im in banking and i deal with crap like that everyday, you can face 2 years in jail + a large fine for trying to get cheat your way out of a bill, again not reading the contract when you purchased something is your own fault they have every right to the money you owe them. Its an actual crime and helping someone by giving them advice can also land you in hot water. So please dont give me an excuse like

Because it wont work. By hitting the purchase button you have signed a contract.
Ps. Consumer law allow you 72hours of buyers remorse if you dont cancel the order within 72 hours or if a clause in the purchase contract allows more time then no legally you are not allow to ask for a refund. You can ask but its the merchants choice to except or deny your request. THIS IS SOMETHING EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW IF THEY OWN A CREDIT CARD.

Most if not all of the OMG PRE CANCEL post are nothing but dribble, few at all give any valuable reason as to why. I not upset at all. If you would have read my post I pretty much summed up all of STO faults without giving any real pluses as to why people should play.
Again most if not all Pre cancel post dont give any real ideas as to why but the obvious OMG THIS IS FAIL.
Im editing this for a simple REASON. Read my post all the way. Then go to the forums and look up the threads where people posted precancel crap. Then come back list to me how many gave a real reason. You can even check STO forums and others. I can count 30+ in the last 2 or 3 weeks easy that post OMG PRE Cancel, I can count on less than 1 hand how many wrote more than 1-3 sentences let alone a review or personal ideas as to why! Nuff Said

Plenty of people care, the only people who don't care are people who actually do like the game. They get tired of hearing the game they like bashed over and over again .... in this case, it seems like it will be a while till it stops. Personally I try things out to see If I like them and gather my own opinion. But in games like this If I could not, I would rely on information from people actually playing. I wouldn't go out and waste money on a trash game but If it had a high probability of being good, I might give it a go without a trial or having beta tested. In this case though I'm doing the beta test and haven't found anything special. In fact, after Champions and this plus the cash shop stunts, count me out of any game they ever make from here out.

To the OP... you and the 10 other people liking the game on this forum do not account for the hundreds that don't like it. I am patiently waiting to see what company picks up this IP and makes a real Star Trek MMO.

i have feeling STO will end up like matrix online. Loved IP poorly done. to OP glad you like it and that you and the other 5,000 subscribers who decided to play. yep 5,000-25,000 subscribers by end of the year because this is poor use of the IP this game is HORRIBLE and if you disagree you have no right to be true star trek fan pure and simple without question. so respond that i'm wrong and you are no longer true fan.
I have to say that while STO makes for a good distraction as a space combat game, it doesn't really feel like a Star Trek game or an MMO for that matter.
I appreciate the fact that it comes in Star Trek wrapper but that is really just so much fluff since the name of the game is get on your ship and go blow stuff up. As far as being an MMO is concerned there is no impetus to team. Some missions will force you onto a team as you enter an instance but it isn't a requirement since most instances have plenty of enemy "squadrons" that can be handled by a single Miranda or Bird of Prey.
