Buying a new pc/internet setup questions.

panachepanache Member UncommonPosts: 397

Hi i'm considering buying a new pc but one thing puts me off....getting internet to work straight off the bat so i have a few questions...

If i remove the ethernet cable from old pc can i plug it straight into the new pc and boot the new pc up and run its initial start up will the internet work?

Will it interfere with my current wireless network i'm running already? or do changes need to be made for the wireless netowrk to continue?

With win xp when i've changed pcs i've normally just unplugged the cable modem stuck the ethernet lead into new pc and its worked straight away no driver installation.....same when my router was plugged between modem and pc will it be this easy with win7?

Any tips appreciated as i'm a right computer noob heh

If it's just ethernet cable you plug in on computer for internet connection, then you won't need any drivers. It will work without any hassle.

For wlan, it depends where you have set it. If it's set up up on separate router, you won't need to do a thing again.
