Got DF some days ago...having a blast!!!

Hey Guys, bought Darkall a few days ago and i just want to get back and share some experiences that i made in my first days.First off all i am having a blast with Darkfall so far,and it was a good idea to buy it. I think the game is made by real MMORPG-Enthusiasts and it shows. Actually everything i expected to get from AoC i got it from Darkfall. My concerns that you will get ganked all the time so its unplayeable, didnt come true (well i got ganked but only few times). Ok, there are enough Mobs in the starter areas, sometimes you have to share Mobs with other players, but thats ok for me, since i have to get used to the combat system first anyways, and this combat system rocks! Everything is fun, magic, bow, melee and of course the combination of it all.
The crafting system is good too i would say, so far i can make my own armor, weapon and bow easily, so in case i get killed and looted i just go back and make new stuff. I can really make a recommendation to this game, it has a real good combination of RPG and fast FPS combat. Combat is fast, and you have a real FPS experience, which is great. Shooting Bows takes some skill since the arrow flies in an arch and you have to consider it, also the Mobs dont just stand still while you kill them, they will fire as soon as they can possibly see you, and they are making erratic movements, circle strafe around you and everything, so even PvE is great fun in this game since in all takes skill, and you are getting better with the time. I thought the community would be maybe as bad as AoC but i failed, the community is good i would say, got contacted by a german clan right at the first day, and if you ask something in public chat, you will get help 90% of the time.
Here and there the game has a few shortcomings, but compared with the great MMO-Experience you will have they are minor( namely: if you turn environmental shadows on and you dont have at least a GX285 your framerate will be not too good, i think this needs a fix. i played AoC with a much worse GFX and still had better performance, there are some soundbugs like the dribbleling sound when you run, gui could be a little better), plus the Devs are "really" working towards it, like DX11 or the GUI. But this game is manly focused on roleplay and PvP and if you like that idea this is the game for you. Skill go up pretty fast, well not too fast but in the right time, so it is not like UO where you have to mine ore for the first 4 weeks.
In general stats are not too important, skill is most important in this game, i would say, and i like the idea. If you can live with getting killed here and there, and like a challenge get this game!
BTW, i dont know why they ever rated this game with a 6 in the review, thats just not fair and it hurts the company, i think thats just not true, this game at least deserves a 7.8 or something, and if you are a PvP-Enthusiast than even a 8,5!
Some anectode i would like to add: Got my first mount yesterday, went to the racial capital to turn in some quest, so i went of my horse, and didnt click the unspawn button fast enough, so some bystander grabbed it and run off with it..hehe. Really funny! Well, he gave me the horse back few minutes ago, maybe because i didnt spam around in the chat, is part of the game, and i like it this way...

Welcome to Agon and I agree with what you said on the game more than two months later. You should get in a clan ASAP, if you're on EU-1 and having trouble send me a PM. I played AoC and DFO is what AoC was meant to be but never was. Hope you have fun, and watch your step things can get brutal now that you're playing DFO ... even IRL,

I'm THIS (holds index and thumb up a short distance apart) close to getting DF. In the recent months all I've been hearing about is how much better the game has got. Before it came out I was interested, then I heard about the terrible launch it had, etc. etc. and I just kinda said forget it. Then, again, all these recent blogs everywhere about how much fun people have with it, from the crafting, to the intense pvp and trying to loot as much as possible without gettin killed yourself, just seems like it would be alot of fun.. and I like the fact that it seems like the server creates it's own "story", war reasons, etc. It just really seems like I could have the freedom I'd like to have.
I play WoW right now, which, don't get me wrong, I love it, but I completely DESPISE the pvp in it.. there's no sense of Horde vs Alliance anymore, it's all a competition, like a sport if you will, they even go to the extreme of having "Seasons". I don't like that.. I like the idea of pvp being your will to survive, and this game seems to have the visceral feel of that. I play WoW for the PvE/raids etc.. I like that teamwork and all, but again, I really want to have a great pvp game and this really seems like that game.
I have played numerous MMOs but the only ones I played for a decent amount of time other than WoW are WAR: I LOVED the RvR in that when I first started, the keep sieges were so fun, until the game became a mechanic of "Let them take it so we can take it back". Before that started happening, that game had a nice sense of Good vs. Evil. I've played AION.. and we all know how that is. I enjoyed it for a bit, but just quickly lost interest, and now I see that there really isn't anything to do at level 50.
So.. long story short? lol I think I'm gonna go ahead and get DFO. Seems like the final word is you can make the game whatever you want it to be for yourself instead of it being a theme park mmo. And THAT combined with the sense of survival and more polished now? Sign me up.

nice to see the change in tone. When it first came out it was nothing but doom and gloom. It is a fun game. tough but fun.

Actually stats are MORE important than skills, trust me.
I bought the game at release but cancelled soon there after as a combination of other games and a general feeling of unfinished. I got back three days ago and the game is in a completely different shape.
As most others also tend to comment; there is certainly room for improvement in almost all aspects of DF, but, compared with other mmorpg´s, this is something different. The feeling of "you're on your own" and that only my skills alone will keep me alive is in this open world setting is tremendous! Even though I might join up with a clan eventually, beeing a looner in DF is sure an exciting experience, and more so than most other mmorpg's.
Without sounding too much of a fanboy here, DF delivers that "virtual world" aspect that I've been looking for for quite some time. I know many of you are pretty fed up with the theme park and spoon feeding concept, and so am I. For the moment my cash will happily go to DF; both because I enjoy the game (world) and I would like to show my support towards the design concept in general.

What race do you play OP? And sharting a mobspawn with another player is very good practice, you learn to control you attacks. And that will make friendly fire less common later.
Was a terrible launch but you can notice that devs are working on it and is the most important part, they like MMOs, they like their MMO and are improving it. Im playing it right now after played the last moments of Beta and dont buying it because the release and I get really impresed how it changes. The combat is the best ever i have seen.

Basically get up to weapons mastery, and add your utility heal spells and wear good equipment and you are competitive.
One thing is unparalleled in DF is an atmosphere of a constant danger. Yeah, death can be everywhere, every next your step can be the last. Playing DF is like jumping in the next 0.0 system without scout... But I like EVE more hehe...

Got ganked today by two vets, during resting, just bought new gear, armor, wep and horsey all gone..hehe...welcome to Darkfall. Ergo=dont run around with your best gear soloing^^. I am on EU1 Server Race=Human. PM me when you want to form a party with some Noob....

Also bring the mount always with you.
As soon as you hear another mount approaching (turn down the music and listen to the sounds), just spawn a mount and leg it.
This is the first survival rule for newbs, 70% of the time will save you from ramdom ganking.
All music should be off and a head set is a must.

This game is sick and it grows on you fast. If you are looking for a game with PvP that's a sandbox, you MUST give this game a shot. Sick I tell ya, SICK! I feel like a UO/SWG crackhead all over again!
