Is "Mourning" the real "scam" I put DnL as an example in my scam scenario question??

I'm sure you are stepping dangerously close, if not over the NDA with your posts. However, I appreciate all that you've said and although I'm not in beta, I feel the same way as you. Your comments below are great and I wish I could have said them first.

Okay look.  All of you Mourning board people that came over here and attacked me, thanks for atleast taking a stand for what you believe in.

However, the simple fact is this... As a mmo gamer since the Ultima Online days back in 1997, If I have ever seen what I thought to be a game in serious trouble... then that game would no-doubt be "Mourning".  Again, I will explain that what I call a "scam" isn't neccessarily a "scam" as an attempt by a company or group of people trying to rip people off... but rather as a game that to me looks like something a group of people are trying hard to bring to life... but probably just do not have the tools, money, and/or resources to make it happen.  When and if this does happen, trust me a lot of people will feel "scammed".  Like they put a lot of time and hope into something that just turned out all wrong or didn't bloom.

I am sure that the game coders and people putting the code together for Mourning are very hard at work and have worked a lot on this game.  I appluad them for that.  I also applaud all the people who have joined their forums, have waited anxiously for all the new news over the last years, new screenshots, new tidbits of information about the game.  Waiting anxiously for something that you look so forward to requires a lot of patience and dedication.

I am trying to be constructive here about a game that I personally thought had some great ideas and I looked forward to.  However I am honestly shocked about the hush hush attitude that the mods and admins over at the website have so close to release and with so few new screenshots or movies.  In many threads that I have seen over there, new people who have asked even a question for new material or whats up with the no news have been very aggressively "slapped down", called names, mocked, called noobs, and been told to "go do a search on the internet" for the material they asked about.  The PR person as I mentioned tries to write in a language that he obviosuly is not proficient in at all, so when he makes an announcement... you would really have to have a love for him and/or the game to overlook what most new oncomers might think of as "OMG, is this an 8 year kid speaking on behalf of this company?"  He might be from a different country, speak a different language, sure.  However this does not take away from the image that is being produced over there at their own website.

There have been lots of foulplay threads about Mourning on various website forums the past week or two, and they always are attacked aggressively by the fans of the game.  In my eyes however, the best way to shut up a person questioning the validity of a game would be with clear, understandable, and accurate answers without attacking the poster.  However this has not been done from what I've seen.. and they wonder over there why all the spoilage about the game is popping up everywhere.  Even on their own forums, they can only answer these kinds of posts cusrious about the game with answers such as "Be patient, big news will come soon".  This is news that has been being promised for a very long time now.. and they still keep pushing back and delaying.  Given this, it is almost common sense as a consumer to come only to one conclusion really.  And that conclusion is that the "big news" that they promise cannot be good for the fans of their game.  There has to be problems inside perhaps from a lack of funding, from problems with the publisher, problems with the game coding to get the game running the way they want or have promised, or some other internal problem behind their closed doors.  I ofcourse, could be wrong and the "big news" that they promise could be "The game is done, it is superb and we have put all of the features that we promised in and added these 192 new features and it will be released 7 days earlier then Feb 25."  LOL.  Possible, ummm I guess.  But very highly doubtful atleast coming from myself, a consumer who has seen a lot.  In fact, I would be willing to bet a lot that when they do release their "big news"... it will be fluffed up a lot with accomplishments, achievements and successes they have made while producing the game... but in the end the final news with all the fluff added will be bad news.  What the bad news will be, we will certainly all soon find out.  In the meantime, I would highly reccommend to their PR, staff and admins that they try and handle valid concerns such as mine and all the other "noobs" as they call them with straight forward, direct, and professional as possible answers.  Calling people with questions "noobs", "trolls", or "WoW fanbois" isn't appropriate for healthy public image just before an advertised release date.  There is a reason there is so much negative attention and focus directed at Mourning right now... and sorry to say, it's not just because there are too many trolls or wow fanbois trying to uhhh "trash" their game.  They need to start looking inward and be honest with themselves about this game first, then be direct and honest with their fans if they want to have a chance at keeping more then a few dozen of their most loyal, dedicated fans happy and patient with their game and company image.

Although I am fairly certain Mourning is a real game, you have to admit that the developers seem to be going out of their way to appear fake lol.

Probably the worst marketing for a product ever in existance, building zero customer coonfidance. I mean taking preorders so far in advance could even be seen as sign that they had run out of money lol. I have on reading this post spent some time reading through all the possible information on the official website and the forum there. My conclusion is basically that not even the fans in the forum know when or how they will get the final product... when the exact 'ship' date will be... or when the game will go 'live'. Sooo ffs give Zaxtor a break, he has a reasonable point here. Theoretically, this could be done as a scam or hoax... I've seen ones almost as elaborate in my time on the web. Hmmmm so if they filed for bankruptcy the day before release... and they were a registered company... who do you think would get their money back lolol.

I remember back in 1999 some guy selling a year 2K bug remover tool... and selling it cheaply to millions of customers , only to declare himself bankrupt 31st December 1999 ROFL. He made a fortune... suckers!!!!

Mourning is not a scam! I told you in the off-topic discussion or whereever it was! Seriously, if it was a scam, they would get sued sooo easily. When they take your credit cards, and use them, the credit card companies can track them down. I heard about it before.

I honestly think that "Mourning" will be released.  When and how good it is, and how many of their features will actually be implemented is still to be seen.

What I am more concerned with however is the PR and the public image that they are portaying and the respect that they are earning from new onlookers of their game.

Just went to their website again, and this is an example of what I speak of.  This is just one example of what seems to be constantly slaughtering their forums, and it's not just all the peoples fault.  They are responsible for a good deal of what is happening to them at their own front door, ie their forum boards.   Take a look:

Zaxtor - I almost agree with you (suprising i know) EXCEPT...

that link is to a post from a random guy who has only 10 posts on the Morning forums (and the post is in the "Junkyard" section of the forums). Er so why are you referencing it??

However i do agree Mourning will be released - the big questions being when and whether they deliver the content promised.

LOL, well it wasn't in the "Junkyard" when I linked it.  Heh.  Well maybe they are doing something with all the dirt coming in their doorway.  Good for them.

We already discussed the mouring thing alot, so people should drop it already.
But to answer this person about that thing in particular i just hae this to say:
They wont get sued as easy as you think. They dont reside in the US. You would have to start legal actions in their own country which would be extremely costly and time consuming. They can steal alot of money before the companies realise it and start to track them down, and then they can just move to a country where there is no extradition. I have seen some of the most elaborate scams and money laundry operations in my life, So I know what can and cant happen. So stop believing that the law extends beyond the borders of your country because it doesnt.
