I am a fairly casual MMO player. I like to play every few nights with a close knit group of friends.
For years now our favorite poison was Phantasy Star Universe. Not the biggest or best known game, it's been plagued by slow updates and generally bad management by Sega of America.
Recently the decision has been made to close down the PC/PS2 version of the PSU servers in two months. The game will still be available in English for Xbox players, but I do not have, nor want to buy an Xbox.
Therefore, I and my small group of fellow gamers are looking for a MMO to replace it that's available for the PC.
Primarily, I'm looking for similarities in gameplay. I do not want the 'traditional' MMO point-and-click-and-wait style of play. PSU is a more action oriented game, i.e. no auto targeting, positioning is important, and you could play entirely with a gamepad. (My group just uses skype to communicate.) I especially prefer gamepad play if at all possible, WASD is just so incredibly uncomfortable to me.
The game I have been considering lately is Tera Online, which I'm impressed by so far. Don't know if it can be played with gamepads, but it does have a similar sort of action.
If anyone has other suggestions for games that match my criteria, please let me know. I would prefer the game is, or will be available in English, but will consider suggestions in other languages as well.
Thanks!

This year hopefully there should be:
Dragon nest
Mabinogi Heroes
Continent of the ninth
Maybe Tera
And prob some others too
They are not out yet and many including myself are waiting for them patiently.
If it works not sure tough you can try with a program on play the chronicles of spellborn
If you don't mind 2d/3d views I can suggest you try dragonica online, you can play it with a gamepad but with using another program to make it look like your using the keyboard.
As far as I know almost any game can be used with a gamepad. There are quite a few 3rd party software programs that map keyboard strokes to gamepad buttons.
JoyToKey and Xpadder ( I like this one ) are just a few to name.
It is a bit sad to see PSU PC already being unplugged. Is the 360 version still running?
Yeah, the 360 version is continuing But those of us who can't afford, or don't want, to get an Xbox (in my case 2, since both my husband and I play), buy the Xbox version of the game *and* have to start over from level 1 are kinda just SOL.
I'm not too familiar with third party programs to map keys, could I have some links to some good ones, please?
