As the topic says anyone got a spare beta account they willing to share? :P I haven't gotten a invite yet . I'm really interested in this game. Mainly because it seems like something Unique to the mmorpg world for a change which is extremly rare now a days. Mind you I am there to test it mainly. *gets out bug zapper* Here little buggy buggy I got a nice present for you... heh heh

Just try, I got accepted overnight (literally) but my "reasons I want to try this" was pretty darn good so that might have something to do with it.
The man speaks the truth, i tried it yesterday and i was playing today.
its been a month or two since i registered for Beta testing and i havent got accepted yet
damn i wanna squash bugs and make it a great game!
Just try again, they seem to be letting people in a lot now since it is almost the end of closed beta
oh...When i played yesterday the players told me it was mostly an alpha and they pretty much just have the tutorial and basic things in place and nothing else. Can anyone give me a better overview of how things are and how its gonna be progressing?

Believe me when I tell you that you probably don't want to alpha test unless you're career is software testing or you have a strong dedication to working out and around a lot of bugs. Everything is usually still in pieces and you usually don't have a complete world to run around in. Those 'early game videos' from alpha stages of testing are where the devs have cobbled together enough things to actually make the video.
If you're in beta and see things as they are, read through the forums, game chat, and the Perpetuum IRC channel (listed in the forums... I'd list it here, but I'm not sure the devs wanted it flooded yet). There's a lot of discussion on what's in, to be added, and what ideas are for the future.

Actually, for an alpha (if it is an alpha) it is quite solid. Didn't run into any bugs yet, but there are a lot of changes being made (new bots added, rates changed, etc.) It feels closer to a beta if it is an alpha.
My point was that this is very far removed from alpha testing. It is a playable game at this point. Is everything fully implemented yet? No, though we keep on getting a few new things every week or two.
Thanks for the reply guys! and yeh i agree, i can never apha/early cb test games there's just way too many obvious bugs that we arent even needed for so i usually like to test in the last 2-3 months before release and provide a lot better feedback and suggestion from that point on.
i've been in the beta (its fine there is no NDA ) for a while now, yes its early but i love it . Still no missions and killing, mining and making is all you can do but its been fun. the comunity is great and devs/Gm's talk to you freely in game. If you can get in you will get a warm welcome, But im told there are a lot of people trying so i would not hold your breath.
anyways back to killing

perpetuum-online is a mech sci-fi MMORPG. Its setting is a far away planet inhabited by robots.
Register for beta.
Minimum system requirements:
2 GHz processor
2 GB RAM
DirectX 9 class ATI or NVIDIA graphics card
Windows XP
125 KB/s Internet connection (though they "say" 56K dial-up SHOULD be able to play [i.e. 4 KBps] and they recommend a 500KBps connection)
1 GB free disk space

The beta is pretty good so far. They are always adding new features/fixing bugs on a regular basis. The trick is to know someone that is testing.
Just say you know Dehrios.
What did you write in your "reason to apply"? If it was something along the lines of "I want in, gimmegimmegimme" it's prolly not really endearing you to the devs.
CBs invites are usually handed to people that can give them something in return. Their application form states pretty clearly what they're looking for, and I dare to quote:
Right now we are looking for gamers with strong programming backgrounds and MMORPG experience. It is vital that our testers understand the mechanics of the game and its procedures without a long learning process. We filter the applicants because we would like to avoid disappointing casual players who are looking for instant thrills and fun.
So, did you have anything to offer to them? If not, well, don't hold your breath.
Well
I must admit I saw the game two days ago, really hope they stop up the publicity soon. This seems right up my alley, I mean mechs - open world - one shard - modular setups...... and I havn't heard of it till I stumpled across it. Need more hype please
Work as a developer myself, not games though. Closed beta is for working out the heavy stuff - open is for testing the stuff you cant do with few users (think: userloads, market, stresstest etc) Did thew in an application, so maybe I will see it as well, and test it.... could be sweet if I could find something new instead of eve - always bugged me you couldn't control your ship manually, and warp mechanics is kinda a downer in PvP.
Anyways, hope i get inside to help out testing the last things (seem they are quite far along already).
Mmmmm, Perpetuum
