I havent tried Darkfall yet... But i'm thinking of trying it... I have one question - what about bots, autoclikers and macro players? If they exist... How many are they? What advantage they have over normal players?

The problem is that Darkfall is very competitive game.Everyone thinks when they start playing that they will not macro and autoclick and that they'll play casualy, but after few ganks where you get owned by high skilled players and when you join clan and see all shiny spells and weapon masterys they have you'll want to have the same and start auto clicking and macroing just to become respected  and that you can fight back when bullys shows up...If you buy Darkfall you'll see what i'm talking about.I won't lie to you,it's a big grind to get somwhere in this game but every skill you gain feels like a big accomplisment  and satisfaction and that's the main reason Darkfall is so damn addictive game.

Well there's no bots due to FFA PvP, no need for auto clickers anymore but people do macro as with all other MMORPGS. however it's done in the saftey of a clans city or somewhere that people won't see and report them.

Aventurine takes a rather hard line on bots and such and due to the nature of the game farming gold and selling it really isn't viable for these gold selling companies,

After what i experienced i didnt see too many AFK macroers yet, if i see them i report them and the GMs do respond really fast. AFAIK it is allowed to use macroes but not AFK. Also i think that the gathering system is good enough not to use macros, is pretty handy, since gathering is not a ongoing clickfest, you can just start gathering and it takes like 10 minutes until your stamina is used.

back in the first couple months of the game, there were a lot of macros and auto-clickers being used. But really not so much anymore.

Most people used an auto-clicker to craft batches of items, or harvest since you used to have to click for every single item or swing of your harvesting tool. Now you can just either set the amount of items you wish to craft, or click once to harvest and your toon will keep going until it runs out of stamina or the node runs dry.

Macros.....well, there used to be a lot of bloodwalling, but now not really, since the xp rate was changed to make it more efficient to level skills from PVE.

The only real "macroing" activity that I still ever see is people either swimming or running into a wall somewhere while afk....and they are VERY well hidden usually as to avoid getting banned for it.

Honestly, who cares! I play MMOs for fun not to cheat my way through. If others cheated or are cheating now I couldn't care less...some people take video games way too seriously imo. As long as I'm having fun ingame and my real life is my priority I'm happy. Botters and hackers got nothing on me :-)

Er, I don't think you've looked around very hard, DFO gold is selling on many sites so someone is managing to farm gold in the game somehow.  MIght not be using bots, and there's a strong possibility the major clans in the game are selling their gold to the farming companies as that would be the most efficient and beneficial way for it to occur.

Nah, the "major clans" are saving it up for a wonder, or building ships, etc.

The bit of gold seller trickle that you see is likely from nodes around starter towns where they can be protected by towers. But even then , they have to compete with actual new players for the nodes, and to venture out into the wild to farm gold leaves them targets for the rest of us, which is fine, IMO.

You'll never hear gold spam in game, and the risk taken for them to farm what little they can get is going to outweigh their profits eventually anyway.

And hey, for the rest of us...think of them as little lottery tickets on the run

I'm not quite sure how to determine what gold is worth to a player, so if I see if for sale at $85.00 US per 100,000 is that a lot of gold, or just a drop in the bucket.

There actually are quite a few sites selling DFO gold, and I'd love to know how they manage handing it off w/o getting ganked and losing it all.

Well most sites have it very expensive, 100k gold is alot but is it worth the price. It's cheaper to buy the game and 6 months sub than that gold. Also I can make 10k easy in one day solo, 100k if your clan went out and did the devils you could make more than that in under 1 hour.

The prices are in my opinion pretty ridiculous as I make about 15k in one day just mining/logging minnimum. You'd have to be pretty deperate and/or lame to purchase gold in DFO in my opinion.

it's a lot to a n00b, but not to a more advanced player. Medium to hard mobs drop a lot of gold now, so a player can amass that amount fairly quickly....fast enough so that it's certainly not worth $85 USD.

I suspect that any DF gold will be quite expensive, as a result of the effort required to get it. I doubt that it will even remain profitable in the long run.
