I try hard to like the game, but i'm just not feeling it. I create a character, log in to the game, and then what? I run around for about 15 minutes hoping to find something to do but all I find is nothing but scenery.

I found a few chickens, taming didn't seem to be an option on them, and killing them just resulted in a pointless bloody mess. Seriously, i'm trying hard to like this game but I tend to start feeling a bit ZZZzzz after 15 minutes plus of running around with nothing to do. What is there to do for a new character and how should the person know how to do it?

And this is why I try to tell people to play the open beta before they buy it.  Game has no content.

So hardcore and sandboxy that you have to use your imagination!

this game reminds me of UO where you had to go out and fight creatures in order to gain skill. there wasnt anything around to tell you what to do. people should try just using intelligence to figure something out instead of having someone tell them what to do.

If the game actually had the features that are listed on it's FEATURES page (http://www.mortalonline.com/features) it might actually resemble UO more and be a damn good game.  Saddly.. half of the listed features are missing as we head to release so you are left with a Sandbox that is half empty of sand and no tools to use such as a shovel and pail.

IF they can stay alive for a year.... they might be able to get those features in game... but that is a big IF.  Some people are willing to buy the game and give a monthly fee in the hope that those features might someday be implemented.  I am not one of them.

I played UO and going out to fight creatures to skill up and gather meat and skins to sell was pretty simple. It's not simple in mortal because all of the creatures seem to be hiding (not many spawns it seems). All I can find so far is chickens and they don't seem to drop anything atall.

Also, if you die in mortal as a new player, prepare to be frustrated. In UO it was as simple as either finding a wandering healer, or opening up your map, and locating the healer building in the nearby city. In mortal if you die and you don't know where you are, or where a nearby healer is, prepare for frustration.

That is not true, nearby healers have huge columns of white light going up in to the sky, also if you are near a town, every town has a healer as well as ones in the wilderness.

If you can't find anything apart from the chicken then I guess you did not bother to walk anywhere? This is not a theme park game where you are restricted to one "zone"  until you finish all the quests there, in MO I suggest you go about  exploring rather than making up things about the game which are not true.

    join a guild.

    mine a bit

or kill some  to get skills

then u can make armor or weapons go out robbing some miners or something like that

the game is a sandbox not like wow cuz wow guides you in mortal u gotta do just waht u want u could start level up some combat skills and then buy a new weapon and then kill some:D

If you are only finding chickens then yes you have not explored enough lol, i have come across multiple mobs, Gazelles, weasels, Wolf's, Dire wolfs, pigs, e.t.c and this was al in a matter f a few hours of just running around testing a few things here and there.

Check out the Help in the options menu by pressing ESC it may give you some insight, there is not much content in atm which imo is fine as it is still in beta and beta is meant to be about testing not a finished product but i am sure we will see some big things come release that we do not already see now,

if you happen to get killed out in the middle of nowhere and feel you will not be able to make it to a priest, hit Suicide in your paper doll menu and it will port you to a priest.

I am confused. I thought this game was not released yet due to many issues, including lack of content.

idk maby u can start working on your skills weither thats crafting fighting or tameing. it doesnt even sound like you left town.

within couple hours of playing my first time i was training my skills the more i ran the more stam i had the longer i could run.

everything thing i did i got better at and could feel the difference the second day i apon exploring i found some horses my tameing was high enough to tame it then i rode it i couldnt go any  faster then a walk at first 30mins later i was riding in full stride.

most skills go up pretty quick you just gotta apply yourself and do things. they do have player houses in the game.that you build your self.

really just sounds like its not your type of game.

Because... it doesn't have any content. It's a sandbox without any sand.

You have just listed some examples of the shovels and pails.  To be a sandbox the game needs some sand to play around in.  Otherwise all you have are kids hitting each other with the shovels and wearing the pails as helmets.  They need exactly what is described on the FEATURES page on the MO website.  Unfortunately most of those features are missing from the game... thus.. the lack of content.

If this game had more PvE "content" (by content I mean more monster spawns and variety), there wouldn't be half the complaints it has currently. Running outside of town and finding nothing but boars and weasels is pretty fucking boring. The average player just wants to kill shit. They're going to get frustrated very quickly when they can't find anything neat to kill. Having to  explore for hours just to find something other than common animals to kill is downright unacceptable.

I understand that they're trying to make a spiritual successor to UO, but this game isn't even a fraction of what UO was.
