...that it gets better.
Oh how gutted I am it turned out the way it did. I was soooo excited about this game. CE was bought and pre ordered. Alas it turned out to be a POS. I do keep the game installed and the icon sits wantingly on my desktop. I am sure this game should be/could be better. How they failed at it I have no idea. I do however think here is how some of the creativity meetings went;
*Dumbass designer 1*- How about we segregate the players form each other over 4 tiers?
*Dumbass dev 2* That's a great idea, that way we cut off any social aspect or true open warfare from the players. Ooooh they will love that!
*Dumbass dev 1* Oh and you know what we should do? Screw that ORvR crap we have been touting so much, how about we go the way WoW did and have the game revolve around scenarios or BGs?
*Dumbass Dev 2* Yeh and we could give them more XP here, that way they will definitely stay in the BGs and not venture in to the outside world!
*Dumbass Dev 1* What about some RP options?
*Dumbass Dev 2* What does that stand for?

Another misinformed person...
First came a world based on scenario's.
Then came the ' War is Everywhere!' campaign, based on the war actually taking place in both the lore of the world/quests(PvE) and the fact that you fought your opponent's faction *when* you PvP'ed.
Then came the Players interpretation of that campaign -> Wooo PvP is everywhere!!
Then later everyone in beta went ' Zomg what's this, ORvR sucks and we're about to release!?!!'
Mythic: ' Crap, this isn't what people want and what we have doesn't seem to be fun enough'
Then came the focus on ORvR focus, and only then. Keeps weren't even in the game nor on the table at that point, it was only *after* then that we heard any mention of keeps being put in the game and that was less than a year before they actually released.
Amazingly ironic since one of the biggest 'let's point at WoW again, what a PvP failure' arguments *was* that ORvR/PvP was an afterthought ^^
Edit: Ow, and no, generally I don't keep MMO's I don't have active subs to on my desktop, although I might leave them on the computer. But leaving them on my desktop just tempts me to resub too easily, even when I know better.
I do..
I had such high expectations for this game.
My biggest problems were the server stability for RvR, and the entire direction end game took. Without going into details, when they said we would be able to sack the enemy capitals, well, what they delivered, wasn't entirely what i was expecting.
I don't believe the game will change enough for me to go back, but , I keep an eye out.
I have it installed... I used my 10 free days re-enlistment like 2 weeks ago... but could not play more than 15 mins before getting bored.
AoC is still on my hard drive too. I have much more faith in AoC than WAR... it was the opposite 6 months ago.

I do. This game really has potential. The characters and classes are very well done. Just needs some better PvE IMO.
I learned a long time ago that there is always a chance i may play any game again, so i rarley ever delete premium MMO's games anymore. It's not like disk space is all that expensive any more.
I keep it on my desktop and I play it. I'm a paid subscriber and I have a lot of fun with the game. The experience beats a lot of what else is out there right now for me, at least.
Oh it will get better, thats a sure fact already, if you ever went pass teir3 you will know what i mean.
Yep still sitting there on my desktop. And I have to admit atm I am tempted to give it another roll of the dice. If I do I'll probably roll a new DoK to see what changes they have made from tier 1 to tier 4.
Your dumbass DEV analogy is perfect, now the scenario ( aka battleground ) mess was fixed eventually and great RVR could be had in Tier 2 and 3 imho.
In Tier 4 there were too much people and not enough space, you could hardly roam, that is because of the segregation of RVR areas.
There were many more not so smart design decisions made, I don't know if they will revise them or not.

All right, I took the plunge...
And not because of anything I read as far as fixing the game, but more along the lines of people saying it was "better" than it was...
In all honesty, my time is very limited right now, I just sold and then bought a house. This new house needs some interior work, that is, without a doubt, keeping me pretty busy.
WAR is great if you like PvP, and play it casually. IMO if you plan to play 10 hours a day you would probably get bored pretty quickly. I can however, log in, bang out a few scenerios, or grap a few RvR objectives, while i wait for paint to dry. (its better than watching paint dry )
On a postive note, the remaining servers are pretty populated, and it doesn't take too long to find some action, especially in T1 (trial), and T4, this experiencing two of the four remaining servers. A lot of the clunkiness and lag seem to be cleaned up, not all of it, but a good enough portion for my taste.
There are still graphical bugs, getting shot by an AMs laser beams, dying, and coming back to have it glitched, and still shooting you is still there, though not nearly as often as i remember it though. People dying, coming back, and their avatar is in a prone postion, unable to stand up, at least graphicaly.. Seeing avatars in the distance, they stil have that quirkey look.. All of these are far less common than they used to be, but still exist.
There's really only one game on the horizon i am looking forward to, and with my current scheldule, this game is good enough for what i need (pvp). Its not going to take a whole lot to get me to move on from this game, but then again, I have been waiting for a game to do that for me, for what seems a very long time..
While I have an inactive sub with a T3 Shaman and Blackguard I sometimes jump on a free account to Orvr and SC with a couple classes I still enjoy.
My issue with people on this forum is everyone is so overly critical about everything.
Sure WAR has stability issues and a Dry endgame but it is fun to play casually.
People gloss over this, they forget T1-T2 are kicks ass and that the game has some really fun classes early on.
The PQs, ToK and SCs are mostly golden but no lets constantly point to the low population issues and the crappy city siege mechanic.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
me too i kept it just for hope
Faranthil Tanathalos
EverQuest 1 - Ranger
Star Wars Galaxies - Master Ranger
Everquest2 - Ranger WarhammerOnline - Shadow Warrior
WOW - Hunter
That's right I like bows and arrows.
I'm contemplating wether I should try it again or not but I'm also contemplating wether or not I want to buy Global Agenda. I could easily keep on playing Guild Wars and Borderlands and be content for the next few months too.
i tried lot of various p2p mmo in the las 12 month or so and i f2p are just as good as p2p and they work so hard to polish their system and all that i predict within a year or 2 even america will have gone to f2p game.it use to be there was a big quality diff between the two but now the adviser of the p2p mmo maker are so stuck on wow way that player are playing fps or rts game instead check warcraft 3 you can get older then that lol and yet lot of player went back to that or fps because they just plain have more fun.
im im sorry but i have to agre i was hoping it would turn around but its not countless rts and fps title are rising up that i never even heard of lol
so its not just war being ignored oh not check wow number on xfire .they got 50 % less player we dont even speak of china market yet lol(since they use their own index!)
so i got to say rpg are becoming unpopular!oh player want to play them yes but not what the industry has been spoon feeding us!
... Also resubbed today after a 4 month hiatus , am returning to see how much they have improved it and recapture some of the great fun that there RvR can be at times...
dont forget to adjust the setting of brightness and the other checker board thing in the order war suggest you ll be surprised to see its way darker and gloomy an colorfull then the default setting
at least it was for me the default wasnt proper for my screen and i bet lot of player didnt look into that
I still have the game installed and will check it out again in the future.
Maybe the game will get better, but I don't have very high expectations for that.
