Who else is loving this game so far?

I am.

Yes there has been alot of server down time for last 24hr, but as we all know, that happens. The game doesn't officially launch until Tuesday.

I'm having an absolute blast playing the game.  I didn't have very high hopes for this game. Mostly due to this website.

Fortunately for me and thousands of others. The game has has blown be away with how much fun it is. No the graphics aren't stellar and there are issues. The main things to remember are : how is gameplay? is it fun?   Well, the game play is a great mix of both space ation and ground action and yes there is crafting .  I love finishing up my land or in ship battles and then beaming back to my ship and engaging in space battles, it fun!

I'm not even into theme park mmos and I am having a blast with it. It is indeed a decent game, and has exceeded many of my expectations.

It's like any other release, I wait a week and most the downtimes are resolved. My guild is lifers only so we are playing for the long haul.

Personally I'm, absolutely LOVING the game...

I can completely understand why a lot of people don't like it, esspecially here, as it doesn't have any of what a lot of people in this particular community look for in a MMO.

I'll further admit I've always had a taste for this type of Space Combat, and I'm the Star Trek fan who judges Star Trek Episodes based on Ship Combat (Balance of Terrory FTW !!!!).

The game is simplistic, repetive, lacks a lot of the socal aspects of a typical MMO... AND I CAN'T STOP PLAYING!!!

Flame me all you want, but I'll never get sick of shooting down BoPs.

    Looking forward to: Star Citizen

i didnt find it fun and it was only vaguely Star Trekkie. There is nothing new or innovative. The quests and ground combat are shallow. The worlds you can beam down to are all barren and fenced in with Invisible walls.

No thanks this is not the Star Trek Online Im looking for.

Good Luck to those of you who do like it though. I hope cryptic is better to the STO community than its been to the CO community.

On a positive note.. cryptic makes EXCELLENT character creators.

Sure, it's alright ... When I actually get to play :) Lookin' forward to the time when it will be stable enough to enjoy.  My brother is playing Champions Online... He's still waiting so it might take a while..

I am sure many people find it fun, not doubt about that.

The same way many people found quite fun WAR, for then after 3 months playing something else.................

Problem with this game is longevity, instant fun.......short lived

This is not the way  you make an MMORPG, yes they are multiplayer and they are massively, but they don't feel like an MMORPG.

It's the most fun I've had in an mmo in years.  To be honest, I wasn't expecting to like it at all, so it completely caught me off guard.  So yeah, I'm loving it so far.

    my STO toon Wolf

i think Cryptic did a great job with the Path to 2409 story line i've seen the kids of a few ST tv series people in the game like Miles O'Brien son and the daughter of Tom / B'Elanna Paris... i can't wait to see who i'll run it to next it would be great to meet Jean Luc Picard at some point in the game...

I am really enjoying the game as well. it's not without its flaws (server stability being the most obvious right now), but I can say that all the time I have spent in the game so far has been a lot of fun.

I'm having a good time with it. I know it's not all perfect, but the only thing that really matters is that I'm having fun. There seems to be a shocking amount of haters for this game, or rather people that are on the anti-cryptic rampage for whatever reason, but all I can think is that they can sit there venting every day and I can log in and have fun. hahah

Really like the game and ready to settle in for the long haul and see where the devs take us.

Im enjoying it very casually while also playing Allods Online. Star Trek Online is easy to get into and offers releatively shot episodes that I can complete in under an hour and accomplish some gains for my character, but I prefer to play Allods Online more hardcore tbh. I will say that STO is going better  than CO did at this point, lets just hope that launch day bomb patch doesn't hit STO.

    Cheers!

Yeah, even with the bugs, content shortcomings and server crashes I have to say that I'm really enjoying the game when I get to play(Work and family... not on Cryptic's end). I really think launch is going to be rough though as the head start has been rocky at best. Certainly not the worst MMO launch I've seen but by far not the smoothest either. I hope Cryptic gets their act together quickly after the 2nd or the backlash could be rather severe.

Havent gotten very far yet but for now I really like this game. I didnt have a slightest intention to buy this but after playing the beta I just had to. Mostly its the non generic MMO feeling that the game is giving me fancys me.

It's taken me from Fallen Earth for a few days so far so it can't be too bad.

I'm really starting to like the game. The only downside for me is the server quality at the moment. I'm not going to join the whole OMG EPIC FAIL gang, because well, they suck, but apart from that, yes Cryptic should've seen this coming and done something about it, but then again I can't remember a MMORPG launching without problems like this so i guess just give them time. Would be nice if Cryptic  gave us a couple free days though for the headstart, which has barely existed thanks to downtime constantly.

I like where the game is going. I actually can't wait to see what they are going to add for us later. Has anyone found a way to catalogue explored starsystems like they said? So you can go back and invite friends?

I'm enjoying it. It needs some polish and to get rid of the wait times, but, not a bad game.

  • WrenderWrender Member Posts: 1,386

It's freaking awesome! Gives me chills sometimes. I'm loving it. This could quite well be the next Big one!!!

Hopefully Cryptic is prepared for the masses. Reminds me of the old WOW launch when Blizzard had no idea of the amount of people who would be subscribing....
