The 'starter axe' is a basic weapon you start with, it has no other purpose than to gather with, be that wood, stone or leather.
If you seriously think that you will be able to pvp at the very start of a character creation, using defaul weapon (starter axe) and rags, then your not going to get very far. Sure, you may be able to hit someone for 5 damage every 4 seconds with that axe, but eventually someone will come along in tungsteel armour wielding a 2 handed sword and proceed to chop your head off.
Turn based- dont make me laugh, you are free to attack and block at any moment you like, as long as you have stamina. But coming and complaining on the mmorpg.com websites wont help you. You will get much better help from the actual games websites. Due to trolling from lmcroy (something like that) and the SAS guy, who if you look at his post history, also did the exact same thing for darkfall.
For the love of god people its not a finished product!, Its in beta.....and its an indie company building it, They do not have a billion dollar budget or a huge staff to make everything perfect, SO stop bitching that is all I ever see on this bloody website is pissing and moaning, it lags no crap there like a fuck ton of people logging on all at once then when they get kicked or droped they log right back in over and over agian.
And if your wondering well wows server or so in so's servers can hold so and so amount, they have the money to afford good equipment and so forth to make that possible, indie company kinda does not.
And I am pretty sure as the game ages they will make the combat and so on better and smoother. ^.^
Remember children its beta it has bugs and faults, thus why they have beta to fix them...Honestly the very ideas there trying to bring to life is crazy good stuff, if they could get support and get a good following then they could make a very very good game.
I have played wow for years and basically all other mmo anything and this one seems to try new things great new things, so shut up bitching and give them a chance, all your doing is being negative, and that never helps anything or anyone.
If you read all of this id be amazed lol because Im normally to lazy to read this much lol :P
Good luck in game on mortal online once they get everything running smoother....
And dont grammer nazi me I know I misspell alot I dont care got better things to do with my time then spell check :P

Ultimate fail, the game has already shipped it's boxes and is going retail within a few weeks, don't use the beta argument.
Its shipping out now because they have a limit amount of funds, they can keep it to work on and they will run out of money, They are a small people trying to do big things so let up alittle on them lol.
Its basically like one of us winning a lot of money and wanting to make a game of our own, of course they wont be a super ironed out wow boom of course but hey they have wonderful plans that with some help could make this a great game.
:P I enjoyed the freedom to not be worrying about leveling to 80 before the game becomes enjoyable kinda or max level anyways

Seriously though, those excuses were a bit more valid back in July when the Closed Beta started. Its now days from launch. A week.. 2 at most, thus the Open Beta. I understand some of the lag issues (although after 3 "massive stress tests" you would think they'd have that worked out). The vast majority of issues will not be fixed in the next few days... or even weeks or months. Some are serious design issues which have been discussed.
If you love the game as it stands more power to you! I support your right to like the game as it stands.. but we don't need to belittle those with honestly differing opinions.

a number of the... scorned individuals... are whooping and celebrating issues/problems Mortal Online is experiencing. There really isn't much to say or do at this point, other than let them feed off their own comments... and it's not that they don't understand, it's that they don't want to.
Nothing against MMORPG.com, but I recommend posting in the MO forums and working in the Open Beta a bit... submit some bugs and generally help the game.

I tried sending a bug report and it sent me to forums that I had no access to. Of all the ways they can balance things in game, having the actual attack not happen until some time after the button is pressed is not a good one. Have the weapon swing slower, lower it's damage or something, but don't make it seem unresponsive. It's like breaking the 4th wall, without being humourous or didatic or entertaining.

"Most of the game, as you'll find when you play it, is full of very good design.
There is a lot of cohesion in the design of all of the systems, their "design philosophy" is to take UO systems and throw them into MO, only working better and it will recreate a better game experience.
As you know, they also have a little different view than UO had and much of what they implement (ie, statloss) does show a lot of logic and thoughts on their part to the consequences of making one game better than another. It's a big bag of success. Keep playing. You'll see."

Statloss in a game with friendly fire is exactly the OPPOSITE of good design. It's exactly as I said -- they are taking UO as a whole, dumping it into a different game and hoping it works. There basically is NO design at all. It's just stolen from UO, right down to the arrows pointing up and down on the skill locks.
