Can anyone clear up for me what exactly guildleves will be used for? Are they, amongst other things, licenses to use weapons or gear, which will in turn define class?
Any of you more informed types able to sum it all up for me?
I'm liking what I see in FF14 more and more, just trying to fill some gaps

Guildleves appear to be physical objects in-game. Their purpose as we understand them now is to augment the difficulty of quests. Imagine it being similar to the boasting you could do before a quest in Fable. Adding more risk, leads to more reward if you're successful. This also gives people hope for soloing, while also giving an incentive to stack requirements for parties.
Hope this helps.
oh really?
That sounds ideal.. i hated the way in Aion (which I like in a lot of ways as well) everything was either solo or full group, meaning that me and the GF were actually penalised for douing. This sounds like it would fix that.
Thanks for the mini insight
Classes do exist and are predefined. These in turn define which weapons/armor you can use. You do gain experience but it may not be in the traditional sense. That remains to be seen.
Arg that's what I get for trying to edit with images off.
just watched this and I understand roles more now.

Tbh, with this vid and other stuff, I am really getting hyped for this game... SE really seem to be the only devs right now that understand the need for grouping, strong group roles, but also the problems of group based play, and have built a system that seems to solve all the frustrations attached to it. I think they 'get' community and how it's built, which i am not seeing in any other game in development right now.
I have pretty much given up on Aion being more then it is, and really have no patience while NCS and take a year to get Aion to a AAA standard with 3.0, so this is kind of golden timing for me as well... I get to take a break, play a few single player games, and come back to a solid well built MMO.

FFXiii FTW !
It will help for the hype of 14 as well hehe
Aye, it's on pre order
