Well just keep in mind, FFXI became a title on 360. yes it took a few years but still. Also the console version of the new FF is multi platform. So you know its comming. Although i prefer to play MMO's on PC rather then Console. It would be nice for those you play multi toons at one time.
Would be cool for it to be 360, but I guess MS have shot that one down. Short sighted tho tbh, this title will actually sell a lot of PS3 here in the West I think with no console competition.
Would be cool if the PC version was playble using a 360 controller though...
I had absolutely no use for a gold sub cause I don't play multi-player titles unless its an MMO! You are missing out on a great co-op game called Borderlands... it's one of the best co-op games ever made.
Shooter? (No Thanks)
Yeah, shooter, but a good one tbh, and I'm no fan of the genre in general

Square is working on a 360 release, but there is nothing confirmed right now on release for it. We all know that Microsoft runs ALL servers that live games play on, so it can be difficult at times to work out agreements for cross platform games. The expressions he gave me tell me that there will be a 360 release with no date set, but I cannot be quoted on that.
I know what you mean though, some games that are multiplatform automatically detects the 360 controller and configures it to use the controller instead of a keyboard. Last game I played that was like was Far Cry 2 and I think the last Remnant was to but I can't remember. Yeah if the game was designed like that it would save time by not mapping the keys
Microsoft is completely focused on trying to salvage the Xbox 360 fiasco by tacking motion controls on the POS old 360 hardware. Bribing SE to gimp FFXIV to work on the 360's wimpy graphics hardware, absurd smaller than last gen 7 gigabyte DVD format and joke force to pay online service isn't going to happen.
So is it still only relasing on ps3 console wise? That would seriously suck!! HaHa Game looks good but i'm a 360 fan through and through.
I play ps3, but I love the polished-up finish of the 360 interface and the quality of online play. On the other hand, I have heard stories about people going through multiple 360s becuase of the amount of time they play FFXI on it. After all, it is an MMO and it does take a couple of hours of play at a time to really enjoy. This is most likely a console problem, and Im afriad it will happen on the ps3 as well. So im just going with PC.--and , if you can, you should too.

Not really true for the PS3. I play the hell out of my PS3 when a new game comes out and sometimes I fall asleep playing it and it will still be on in the morning. I have gotten the YLOD once and that was on my launch 60gb version and that was 2 years after I bought it. My current one is still going strong to, but I understand your concerns because I have the same concerns. After much consideration I plan to get the PS3 version first.

I don't see what the problem is. I would say that the majority of people who own an xbox have xbox live. It's not like xbox live is expensive. It's under $5 a month, it's not like MS is making you pay $15 a month or anything like that. The trade off is well worth it. You can't deny that xbox live is a MUCH better online experience than what sony has to offer. To those people complaining about it costing too much look at it this way. You are already paying $20-30 or more for internet a month and your willing to pay $15 a month for an mmo sub, you can pay another $4 for xbox live
Uh no...a gold subscription pretty much only unlocks the ability to play multi-player games online through Live. You can do everything else free with a silver account as far as I recall when I had a 360.{recently netflix is it requires gold?} If all I or someone else wanted was a 360 only to play FFXIV then its truly not fair to make us pay $15 for the subscription, plus an additional $4 a month for Live services we wouldn't be using!
I had my 360 for 6-8 months and I never played anything but 1P RPGs, and the occasional indie title, I had absolutely no use for a gold sub cause I don't play multi-player titles unless its an MMO! So until M$ decides to allow FFXIV to be played via a silver account like they did with FFXI, it'll never be released on 360!
like 90% of the titles out there are multi platform... (the biggest ones typically). Yeah, 360 online service is better, you get what you pay for. PS3 has a similar game library, better preformance and graphics, worse online play. Depends on what the user wants. In the case of Final Fantasy 14 it won't matter becaues the servers used will be the same as PC.
Here’s a tough one. On paper, the Playstation 3’s Cell engine is more capable than XBOX 360’s triple-core Xenon CPU. However, as our developer alluded to last year, the XBOX 360 is much easier to develop for. In other words, a lot of the Cell’s power is going to waste. Although that is expected to change eventually, as always seems to happen with Sony’s consoles (compare early PS2 games to current games, and the same goes for PS1), one year later we’re still waiting for someone to fully exploit the system. Another indication that the PS3 is harder to develop for is the fact that almost all multiplatform games arrive weeks – if not months – after their 360 versions.
As we said last year, we fully expect the PS3 to win this category – eventually. To what extent, we’re not sure (very likely it’s only going to be the blockbuster first-party titles that take full advantage of Cell), and when this will occur, we’re not sure either. Obviously, one full year wasn’t enough.
Graphics
This is a sticky subject for a lot of fanboys. A very common argument in most flame wars is that the Playstation 3 simply “has better graphics”. I’m not sure where that argument came from; Sony obviously did a good job of marketing the system. However, the argument is entirely false. The Xenos GPU on the XBOX 360 is superior the RSX on the PS3. This is one thing that didn’t change in the past year.
Xenos simply has more power – higher fillrate, higher pixel processing power, higher vertex processing power, and better memory architecture. If you look at multiplatform games and contrast the graphics on the two consoles, XBOX 360 almost always leads. Whether they use a higher resolution or higher quality antialiasing, games often look better and/or play smoother on the 360. We looked at a handful of multiplatform games a while back, and this was always the case.
Again, we have to consider that Cell has the potential to help with graphics on the Playstation 3. As developers become more familiar with the platform, they are going to come up with new tricks to help games run smoother, and allow them to look better. However, one year after its introduction we aren’t seeing huge leaps (or even baby steps) towards this, except on a couple exclusive titles.
I have a feeling we will see it on 360 eventually. I can see why they may just stick with PS3 and PC if they go that route though. If it was on 360 too I would have to buy 3 versions of the damn game so I hope they hold off until a while after release.
I think they are going to wait and see what kind of profit this game turns out.No question in my mind, they will be losing money from a 360 version, but if they turn a high enough product they will do it for the heck of it.Or they might just be banking on Microsoft to loosen their purse strings,if the game is huge, then Microsoft will want on board.
My personal opinion is that it won't be that huge,it is not a game that caters to what the current trend wants,it has no levels to speed level,it has no PVP or ganking lol,it is not geared towards end game PVP or end game instancing,so i can't see that WOW generation of gamer getting on board.Combat is slowish,no super huge glowing swords so the Asian/Korean community won't be on board either, this will continue to be as FFXI was, a niche crowd of TRUE RPG'rs.
SO i think unlike Square takes a ton of heat from THEIR local media like Famatsu and big gaming orgs ,they are not going to make a 360.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I think your Wrong MS is not only screwing SE over by asking them for a 5%-10% profit for a game they have nothing to do with creation what will be the incentive for SE to go to MS when MS is trying to steal money it dosnt deserve. Not only are they Screwing over SE with Final Fantasy XIV but also FFIII its been reported the xbox 360 version is smaller then the PS3's version because Microsoft wants to charge for Downloadable content. And by smaller i mean 3 discs the PS3 version is 47.5 gigs the xbox360 version is 32.5 GB's that is 3 discs of content we are missing so i think SE is done playing with MS and i for one stand behind SE for this.
As far as FFXIV not being huge you can state your opinion's all you want but there is not enough info to state anything you are saying do you relize FFXI was huge in Japan/China because of how the game was we as AMericans are Lazy with gameing now we dont want to work for anything we want things handed to us on a gold platter like wow dose. State your opinions all you want i can name 20 games that are harder and actually have a RISK VS REWARD SYSTEM UNLIKE WOW!!!
I Have myself been playing games for about 29 years and my best friend has been playing them longer he and i dont agree anymore on MMO's he is a wow fan where i hate WoW for good Reason and its time is comeing to a end aurgue the facts or whatever but my facts are every 6 years a new king reigns supreame do i think its FFXIV no do i think it can have a chance to be yes because its SE. But back on your Subject of it comeing to XBOX360 i dont see this happening for reasons stated above and alot of developers are following suite because Microsoft is getting to greedy we pay more for internet we pay for Downloadable content we pay for everything we get nothing for free with Microsoft where as PS3 is Free to play online and actually have full control over what you can do where MS its limited.

I have have no idea why people think that PvP is essential for a MMO to be big.
Oh yeah i do... WoW had it.
You do realise that some of the biggest and most enduring MMORPGs have no PvP as part of their core game right? It's sometimes too easy to confuse personal preference with mass opinion.
Calling the FF franchise 'niche' is pretty amusing tho :P
The 360 has shifted over 30 million units... ofc any dev wants a piece of that, and ofc it's worth investing the money to port it from the PC code, especially as it FF14 would represent the first real box fresh MMORPG that the console will see and will definitly have mass appeal. RPGs in general, that require easily the same time sink as a modern MMORPG, on the 360 are massively popular. FF14 would be big money for SE on the 360 if it can get a deal sorted... why do you think that MS want a piece of it so badly?
FF14 is designed with a more casual eye for the drop in player as well as the group player, set in a persistant world aimed a user base now more then used to playing online with friends, which is exactly the type of game much of the 360 community is screaming out for imo.
As a note tho, i just want to say I will be playing on PC and don't have a side in the PS3 vs 360 BS debates... or even in the PC vs consoles one... I own a 360 and choose to play some titles on it, but don't feel any loyalty to MS or the brand. I fully admit that the PS3 is the better machine technically. I just try and look at the whole thing objectively.

Regardless, here's some info (rumor) that an Xbox360 version of FFXIV is coming:
I dunno about the 360 leading the mutli-platform thing... On GT reviews where they do a side by side comparison with ps3 and 360 for several titles and they always say the ps3 looks the best visually and gets the best peformance. The only two games that come to mind for this comparison at the moment are Oblivion and Assassins Creed, but I know they've done more. It just looks like your statement was based on your personal opinion rather than the actual specs or results. And Sony isn't running around making false claims, their gpu actually is better. One point I can agree with is that the PS3 is harder to develop games for. I can also agree that companies haven't been able to use the full potential of the cell processor.
In the end it doesn't really matter which system you get I suppose, though I can say from experience that the hardware on the 360 seems to die a lot more often.

I just want to add that the differences between the two consoles are really small overall and I would say that which one is viewed as performing better might vary depending on who is doing the comparison. You pointed out Oblivion and Assassins Creed, I will grant that Oblivion performs a bit better on the PS3, because it came out over 6 months later, and they had more time to tweek things with it. Assassins Creed actually has much more pop up and lag when played on the PS3. I have seen Assassins Creed played on both and that one I have to say performs better on the 360.
I could also then add in Fallout 3 which was reviewed on IGN as looking the best on the PC, followed by the 360, and the PS3 in last place with the worst performance and most blury display. I personally like the 360, because it has a few games out for it that I can only play on it, but if I had the money I would also buy a PS3 to play some of its exclusives.
I guess I also have to admit with the harware failures on the 360. I am on my 3rd right now, and am just glad they covered them under warrenty and were able to get me replacements in only a few days. I also probably have my 360 running more often than most because it is on a lot, and is the hub for all my media.
I just had another thought, and this is coming from a 360 owner. One thing MS should have done when making the 360 was include a hard drive with every system like they did with the first Xbox. They instead decided to make it in several versions with and without HDs and in different HD sizes. This I feel would cause some issues with MMOs because the expansions would probably be too big to fit on the smaller memory cards or all those people like me that only have the 10GB HD due to buying the system early in its life before they started putting out large HDs.
With this it just seems like the player base for FF XIV would be smaller and more limited to those with the bigger HDs, and I am sure not too many people would want to upgrade for a single game. I know I would rather play it on the PC.
PS3 version usually look slightly worse and perform worse (the first assassin creed is a good example) or look a bit better but have horrendous framerates (Dragon's Age, for example).
Exclusives are a different discussion altogheter, but I have both systems and I haven't seen any PS3 exclusive that looks better than anything on 360, or vice versa
The problem is, as someone already said, that the PS3 is very difficult to develop for and many developers (Valve for example) have clearly said they not going to work on PS3 games (Valve games get ported by EA)
That said, maybe with time we will get better PS3 games but for now the 2 machines are virtually identical, with a slight advantage for 360 on multiforma titles

I've never tried a mmo on a console (unless you count PSO as a mmo?).
Anyway I don't mind the Ps3 exclusivity.
I'll play it on PC anyway.

Regardless, here's some info (rumor) that an Xbox360 version of FFXIV is coming:

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.
Of course not, 360 love is morally reprehensible and anyone practicing it should be arrested for deviancy.
Oh, wait, OP didn't mean it like that, er, nevermind.
I suspect it will be released on the 360 at some point in time, just giving PC/PS3 users a head start is all.

Sorry but I have to disagree, multiformat games always perform better on the 360 and most times look slightly better.
Eurogamer.net has a section where they do head to head and while the gap between the 2 platforms is narrowing, it's still there.
http://www.eurogamer.net/archive.php?platform=digitalfoundry&type=face-off
PS3 version usually look slightly worse and perform worse (the first assassin creed is a good example) or look a bit better but have horrendous framerates (Dragon's Age, for example).
