Sorry but I have to disagree, multiformat games always perform better on the 360 and most times look slightly better. Eurogamer.net has a section where they do head to head and while the gap between the 2 platforms is narrowing, it's still there. http://www.eurogamer.net/archive.php?platform=digitalfoundry&type=face-off PS3 version usually look slightly worse and perform worse (the first assassin creed is a good example) or look a bit better but have horrendous framerates (Dragon's Age, for example). Exclusives are a different discussion altogheter, but I have both systems and I haven't seen any PS3 exclusive that looks better than anything on 360, or vice versa The problem is, as someone already said, that the PS3 is very difficult to develop for and many developers (Valve for example) have clearly said they not going to work on PS3 games (Valve games get ported by EA) That said, maybe with time we will get better PS3 games but for now the 2 machines are virtually identical, with a slight advantage for 360 on multiforma titles
there have been a few games that have been released on both formats, where the xbox version outperformed the ps3 version, (ghostbusters was one that comes to mind) while the ps3 probably has the potential to do much better, it will probably become a moot point, as both consoles have already fallen behind the tech curve, so to speak, compared to the pc, at the moment we're waiting for the next 'technological leap' in graphics and possibly in processor technology, with the advent of more affordable SSD technology and cheaper storage options, its hard to see how either console will really continue to compete without some serious redevelopment.
