The online play is somewhat similiar to the offline, you'll see alot of things in offline that you wont' see online, but you will see alot onlinet hat you will not see offline.

I personally love the game.  I think it's based on each person and their experience.  They are constantly adding new things, and are working on a big update now!  I would suggest getting yourself the free trial, and playing.  Also check out http://sims.stratics.com  Play around with the forums to get an idea of what city you want to be in!

Do get the free trial and try it for the 14 days. If you like offline sims you will like this much more. I played all the offline ones, but now I like this because besides building your house and doing the things you do in offline you have other humans to talk to and interact with. There are updates ( not as many or as often as we wish at times lol).

There are many things to do. One thing very different from offline is you go to work with your sim and control him there. I have made a lot of friends on the game too and you cannot do that offline.. Just try it for the free period and cancel if you hate it. What have you got to lose?

TSO has a lot to offer to a lot of different people, so the best way for you to evaluate whether it's right for you or not is to download the free trial, and play it out.  There are currently 11 cities online, as well as a Test Center (for testing pre-production features) and Betaville, where the newest features, Sim families and Free Will, are being tested.  you will be able to choose up to three cities to base your sims in (Betaville is an exception, as it has its own slot).  Each city is unique in personality and in what they have to offer.
