Karttoon runs off with 1.2 to 1.5 trillion in goonie assets and supposedly 300 billion liquid isk, dumps all goon corps, goons said to be reforming under Goonwaffe, debacle occurs after he returns from honeymoon to the wallet error and getting 6 pages of flak on SA forums.

well, much as i dislike the goons and am not too sorry they've come a cropper, i do kind of feel sorry for him, coming back to face all that must have been pretty devastating..  still, considering the way goons operate,  something like that was always bound to occur at some point. Be interesting to see how they recover from it all..

Hel was bounced out of pos shields due to Goons being dissolved, ship was happily dissolved by those who heard and were waiting.

One great thing about EVE is, just when you think not much is ever going to change, things change dramatically to the balance of power in 0.0.

    Agreed.

I don't have a ton of experience with the game, but lately I've been getting pretty pumped up by some of the stuff I have read or had relayed to me.

I've been an avid reader over at Eve-Pirate for a very, very long time. The stories some players have to tell are absolutely amazing in terms of just how solid this game really is, one of the only remaining true sandboxes available.

Very tempted to buy a six month sub and go hard....

Just do it. Sooner or later (hopefully sooner) CCP will fix the terrible lag problem again, and then shit will really kick off in 0.0

Start training up now, get some PvP practice in, then maybe learn to fly a covops as a scout (not too demanding on the SP requirements), plus a battlecruiser for ratting (easy) and you could be part of it within a few weeks.

if you listen real carefully, you can hear delve burning, thousands of killmails, thousands of people must be flooding into those regions now. Probablly not as many as when BoB died since NC is tied up atm, but damn thats alot of space to just go away in 1 day. http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Verite/20100203EE.png

The problem is it seems like it's always the same story: Giant megacorp holds lots of 0.0 space. Someone high up in the corp steals everything he can and disbands everyone after he's done.

The game would be much cooler if these alliances actually went down due to being overthrown in combat even internal combat....not some disgruntled guy deciding he wants to loot his own corp. While it's great that Eve allows you lots of freedom, they should allow you to setup your alliance in such a way to prevent one person from destroying everything with a few clicks. Same story is getting old. I would rather massive battles than another story about a single eveonline douchebag screwing people over.

Scandal will always grab more headlines then a story about an honorable fight. There are regular news updates about fighting in various regions, but something like this grabs people's attention just due to the scope and drama. The effects are instant versus a long war that may drag on for a while.

Interstellar Correspondents and CORPS both relay information about what is happening at all levels of gameplay in EVE Online. A recap of the majority of it is in each month's newsletter.

EVE got off lightly compared with what we have in store for STO.

It's a shame goons are effectively out of the game. They provided some of most entertaining content this game has ever seen.

And what's left now? IT Alliance, the most boring and pretentious dullards you could ever meet. Eve's golden age is now over imo.

i doubt goons are completely finished. I wouldnt be surprised if they come up again in another alliance, although probably not as large as they once were. There are too many of them to completely dissolve, unless all 5000 of them decide to cancel their accounts.

Yeah but has it changed really? Just BoB using a different name have taken over again.

  • RocketeerRocketeer Member UncommonPosts: 1,303

Afaik goons still hold the original BoB alliance name, would be kinda funny if they reformed under that one.

    @Varny:

Dunno what you expected, the corps which made up BoB where far to powerful to not expect them holding space, that has nothing at all to do with goons. Besides i doubt wether 99% of the people who are not blue to either of them cares which one of them holds delve and surrounding area. Personally i never got whats so hot about delve, imho the drone regios are much better, lots of exactly the stuff you need for wars, and that is mins for fleetBS and caps.

"I'll try to keep this short since I've never been one for long boring stories.

I was originally planning to do this about a month ago. I prepped everything one evening with a post at hand, and moved my characters into our major cache locations. I noticed that NOL had a large logistics ship cache worth of 10's of billions in T2 ships, so I spent about two hours moving them to lowsec. By the time I was finished it was getting late, so I decided to get some sleep and mash buttons the following night. The next day I received intel that SirMolle was going to move IT alliance to work with AAA/Sys-K invade our space, and decided to let things continue since the idea of them alarm clocking until 5AM for weeks at a time made me gitty inside. The work moving the ship cache and other important assets could be easily explained that I didn’t want them locked in NOL if it was lost. This is the draft of the post I had prepared:

Amusingly enough when I returned from a 1.5 vacation to discover that most of what I was going to do was already done... by accident. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard and long in my entire life.

At this point finishing the job was obvious, but I wanted a day or two to get a few things prepared, such as unlocking all of the Titan and Mothership BPO's and letting the logistics crew ninja some of the stuff out for me first. To buy some time I made a half assed post and semi-troll on Goonfleet.com essentially blaming CCP and regurgitated some previous terrible orders the directorate made. The response from Goons was more amusing than I anticipated. I removed all roles from in game titles rendering them useless, and then purged all of the directors of titles. Conveniently the jabber bot in illuminate wasn't online at the time, so it didn't scream in the channel about the role changes (Solo is awesome BTW, and you really should use your talent on something that will make you rich). I systematically removed all of the member corps from Goonswarm except for Tolon (supercap corp) and GHSC (The alliance wallet corp), to which I had control over with alts. I voted GHSC as executor, and booted Goonfleet from the alliance. Shortly after I submitted Goonfleet's application to Band of Brothers, which should take affect between 1-2AM EST tonight where it will remain indefinitely.

I am leaving enough isk in the wallets of both executor corps to ensure the alliance bills can be paid for at least a few years, and I am riding into the sunset (quitting eve) leaving all the isk and assets locked in game. I'll probably check back in a year or so and donate it all to some random goon of my choice, assuming the game still exists."

    by Karttoon

They have no rights in BoB alliance, neither in Goonfleet corp. They will either form a new corp, join other corps or leave the game.
