Darkfall: New Female Model Preview

We recently reported that the Darkfall art team will be overhauling many of the games' armor and player models. Today, we've got a sneak peek at a work-in-progress of the new female player model, and she is smokin'!

Darkfall Community Liason Laenih offers a description of what we're looking at here and what we can expect from the overhaul:

For now she still has one of her old haircuts but new hair options and other additional features will be introduced with the updates too.

One of the improvements is a slightly higher polygon count while still keeping the performance of the game in mind. Additionally, the proportions have been slightly changed.

On top of having new and additional armors as mentioned in a previous spotlight, the nude states of all characters have been improved.

And yes, the improvements, of course, will also include animations.

    She has that 1960's Barbarella hairstyle... nice, ... ah if only Jane Fonda could have stayed that hot looking for ever. :P

    Nice job on the model, and the skin rendering's not bad either.  Good job AV!  Keep up the good work!

    This type of female armour (yes I'm British and it's spelt with a "u") always makes me laugh. It offers next to no protection. We really should have real life female soliders wearing less body armour then men and see the amount of complaints the army gets when it sends the female troops into combat in their underwear. Of course this type of sexist representation is allowed in online games such as this which is frankly part of the reason why so few women play MMOs. Still, I'm all for it and normally play a female character. After all why the hell do I want to look at the behind of some male for several hours at a time. Much better to watch the behind of my poorly clad pixel avatar bounce along in a gravity defying way. I say get rid of all male characters in MMOs and let everybody play females :)

    Dude this is the naked clothing.  When you unequip everything.  Female armor in this game is just like the males and covers everything...

    You have to see yet an ork female in a plate/full plate armour...oh those nipple protectors...

    Of course they are late, they don't get the big bucks from Aventurine as they do from Funcom and such shitty companies.

     

    Anyway, don't care much about the models, tho this one looks good, what I'm really and truly looking forward to is new animations, that will the biggest visual plus in my book.

    Engines do not restrict anything to do with shapes. Engine simply restricts physics, animation and other stuff doing with mechanics.  You do not have to be an artist buff do know that she is WAY out of proportion.  Anything to do with model rendering and the shapes of the render is all on the artist.  Yes, it might be an improvement but I still see a poorly designed female warrior. Her body shape is out of proportion especially the alignment between her chest and shoulders and her face is disconfigured imo.  However this is all down to personal opinion. I call this rape of a female figure. Even if there are games that have less clothing on and really expose the female figure. At least they got the basic shape and alignment of the body correct.

    Anyroad, I hate to be the one to burst your bubble, but, there are loads of girl-gamers out there, my lad, and let me tell you this: girl-gamers are VERY concerned with looking cute/sexy/sexy-cute. I suggest you actually spend some time with some girl-gamers and find out the reality of their fashion-sense before you make a fool of yourself trying to speak on their behalf, putting words in their collective mouths with grandiose posturing statements of some male-championed Puritanical Ideal, lol.

    If they did,  then the multi-billion-£ fashion and cosmetics industries would have been D.O.A. millenia ago, dear boy ;) (Leave alone the COSMETIC SURGERY industry, hahaha!)

    FACT 2: My wife stopped playing mages in FF11 because the warrior gear was sexier.

    Go spend some time with some flesh-and-blood girls, mate. You'd be well surprised at how wrong you are.
