Sounds familiar, am in the process of installing that game myself. A few threads down someone suggested this work-around:
A patch for MO is a torrent file, which is first downloaded to the subfolder "patches". Instead of running the download through the Mortal Launcher, let the updater download the torrent file and abort the patcher when it starts downloading the actual file. Then open the torrent in your torrent client of choice (e.g. uTorrent), download + move into the game folder. Restart the launcher - the patch should now be applied.
Speed should be much improved this way, but it is somewhat inconvenient, agreed.
Hmm isn't MO made in Sweden? The land of piracy with torrents and high speed? Wierd.
Played: From Earth & Beyond, Anarchy Online, Matrix Online, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa (Beta), EvE Online, City of Villians, Atlantica Online, Guild Wars, Lineage 2, Pirates of the Burning Sea, PlanetSide, RF Online, Second Life, Fallen Earth.
seriously, a 263mb patch has taken me 4 hours to load now, only 78% finished. is it just me?
I already mentioned what the game does but i guess people don't pay attention.
It uses PANDO an exact copy/ ripoff of any other TORRENT software,it uses the players bandwidth. Now if you have for some reason an IP that blocks those ports, they may have in place settings that lower your speed,as this is the way torrents usually operate, you don't support you get lower speeds.
Torrents are only as fast as seeders and leechers allow it to be,so it is hit and miss,i D/L it fairly quickly,i think around 250-380 kb/s witch is pretty much the going rate for most D/L's unless of course Microsoft or Fileplanet.
This was the part that made me think, these guys are true amateurs, they could have EASILY uploaded the file to Fileplanet, instead of relying on a Torrent program.BTW i cannot stand Pando as it also ends up staying on your PC,and i actually had it flagged by a virus scan once as malware.

Land of piracy? hmmm, Sweden is one of the few (democratic) countries where private companies can order an internet service provider to give you user data (name, address etc) based on an IP-Address and use that data to sue people for copyright infringement.
Also recently, about a year ago, the goverment launched a campaign against a famous torrent site and, mostly, based on political reasons rather than actual evidence, convicted the people responsible for that site and gave them extremely high penalties.
So piracy is a much more dangerous activity because the goverment has decided to engage in some kind of witch hunt for anyone attempting to download any copyrighted material.
I'd love to beta test the game... but at least you people are able to get the launcher to WORK. FFS if you can't even get the game to the people you want to test it smoothly then it should be a sign. I mean christ, I don't mind beta testing a game but fix the goddamned launcher.

My gaming blog
Download µtorrent, activate the official launcher just long enough so that it starts downloading your patch; then close it.
Now go to your MO directory > patches and open the torrent file for that patch with µtorrent.
It downloads much faster (got 700 kb/s instead of a measly 5).
When you're done, drag the patch to the 'mortalonline' map in your directory and doubleclick to install.
Repeat for the 3 separate patches.
Be prepared for a frekking unfinished game when you get in though, ffs.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
