The guy is dumb we told him before he should not talk on IRC or he is going to lose so many customers over it. yet he never listens.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to the internet and/or gamers. Meh, I wouldn't worry about IRC behavior when the game itself will turn-away many more customers.
He said he was sorry and he had along weekend, he has like 200 haters to deal with, what did u expect. Saying someone is pathetic is not even near to cussing someone, so dont even start to jump on a poor guy.

So you are actively defending a developer who openly insults customers in IRC? Not only defending, but you actually go so far as to try and justify that developers behavior by making excuses for him.
I thought I had seen it all, but this takes the cake.
I,for one,expected a professional. He CHOSE to enter IRC with that mood. He was there not as an alt or disguised.No,he was there as a game dev. he acts that way and he's the poor guy? Ok then. If he slaps someone in the face,let the poor guy blame society then.

This reminds me of some other game... but I believe it was some kind of mod or community rep on the game's forums. Either AoC or Darkfall, I'm leaning towards AoC...
Nope, I think it was Darkfall. AoC was the one with a GM in-game who flirted with a girl character (guy in real life) and was caught. Yeah, he teleported "her" to a GM island so "she" could inspect his big "sword"... I laughed.
Yes, because some one named 'Virgin Cherry' is to be taken seriously in the first place...
The maturity, and consequently credibility, of that player flew out the window the moment they thought that name was good enough to use.
In short, I feel no sympathy and instead wish some one had shot virgin Cherry in the foot.

You know the guards of Buckingham Palace who stand at attention all day? If you represent a company, you have to act like that. Doesn't matter if someone runs circles around you babbling like a moron. Unless he directly attacks you (kicks the guard in the nuts, for example), you can't retaliate because you represent your company at all times.

I understand what you mean, and yes it's bad to lose one's head, especially for customer relations or any clearly visible representative of any entity.
I however am also of the school that people don't deserve respect unless they have given a sufficient reason to deserve it. Some one who runs around with a name like that all ready shot that chance out the airlock, a professional relationship with some one like that is rather honestly impossible unless you're a masochist.

LOL, this is a hardcore, pvp game, calling someone pathetic is just a form of online PVP, and people better harden the f... up if they want to hang.
Sounds like VC deserved what he got, and no, the customer isn't always right.
This is a small company, and they are free to treat their customers any way they want.

This company is extremely unprofessional. It's really turning into a joke at this point. I was actually going to give Mortal Online a try a month or so after release. After what I've seen over the last few months, no frackin' way. It's like SV are a bunch of teenagers trying run a business way beyond their abilities.

If your going to be a douche in IRC, then expect to get douchebaggary back. Dev or not, people have bad days.
Need to mention that people are defending a customer who was acting like a child when the dev said one little thing that was remotely insulting and people blow up about it like it's the end of the world.

What I'm seeing is Sebastian said "you are pathetic it will be booted during the weekend", because this guy was spamming IRC asking when it was going to be booted.
Why is everyone saying he cussed the guy out? I'm so confused.
Reminds me of a thread on there just before open beta.. Some guy made a post basicly saying "AWESOME!! THE LONG PROMISED OPEN BETA IS NEAR". Some Developer left a sarcastic post putting quotes around various words like "long" and "promised" and basicly telling the OP to go F himself. The OP had no clue what was going on but I remember one of the responses was a guy who simply wrote somthing like:
It's OK XXXx, the "Devs" think it's fun to be "sarcastic" to their "customers" on the forums.
The very next post was an apology from the Developer saying he had a bad day

Do you have a screen shot of that? I joined about a minute before sebastian went off on the person, I did not see anything before that "pathetic" sentence.
So its ok for a company representative to call a customer "pathetic" in the face and get away with it. There's no excuse for such behaviour. Hell, most companies would give a serious warning to their employee or fire him immeditately. There are two important rules in Business and Marketing; 1) The customer is always right 2) if the customer is ever wrong, reread rule number 1. This is how you keep your customers. You can always hire new employees though.
I tried out the game so the behaviour of this developer or whatever the hell this guy is, did not surprise me. Amateurish work done by amateurs.
By the way, the name of the person shouldnt matter to a company rep. The only thing that should matter is the money they could have earned from that person. Your point is moot. And why would you wish harm upon someone who you've never ever met in your entire life? Just because you dont like their name? Are you so bitter?
Is it only me who doesn't see much wrong with that? It's a bit childish, but much better then giving the person a ban for "abusing the system". I guess the GM should have posted the whole situation on AoC forums with a warning that if anyone else tries it, they will get some GM spanking.
I would much rather have GMs who can respond to a joke or a weird situation then those who swear at customers like in this case.
Give yourself a few more posts...since this is your first post just try to relax and take it all in...no hurry...pace yourself.
It's better to lurk in forums and be thought a fool...than to endlessly "Quote" and remove all doubts.
