Frigging so many games to play and catch up on it is crazy. I want to complete Mass Effect 2 but I got about halfway through it and lost interest because the gameplay in that game isn't it's strong point. BFBC2 beta came out for the PC and it is a blast, I just spend every second of free time I have on it. The game has it's problems like a bad server browser and poorly optimized, these are things they can easily fix before release as the gameplay is solid. I've just been waiting since like 2004 for an FPS to come out that has caught on to me like CSS, Planetside or Tribes did and finally a worthwhile online FPS has come after all these years!
I was never a fan of BF games in the past because the shooting was bad and too many dolphin divers. The maps were too big so they all became about sniping and vehicles, so the infantry gun to gun suffered. BFBC2 fixes all the issues I had and it adds one thing I will never be able to live without... destruction. Man it is so exciting to see buildings fall down around you and being able to dig yourself a trench in the ground with explosives lol.
Just hope this game sells because it is so much better than MW2, which I never understood what people found fun with that game. It is just so generic and arcadey and just feels like some mindless 90s deathmatch FPS. BFBC2 is better in every way and frigging just worried the high specs and the name will put people off. I had to convince my friends that it wasn't crap like the first game so I dunno if the average person will want to give the series a second try.

I agree i cant stay off the dam game i hope it sells well i love the new EA attitude since infinity ward/actiblizzard screwed over the PC gamers i hope BFBC2 kills MW2 .
lol good luck with that.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
the game already has a buttload of fans since DICE are strong advocates for dedicated server support, something most (if not all) modern PC FPS games lack.
I hated the first BFBC...so hopefully this one is better. I haven't tried the beta yet, but I'll probably still buy it when it comes out to see if it's any good.
lol good luck with that.
It should be very easy for BFBC2 to outsell MW2 for the PC. Then again, the more baddies that stick to MW2, the better.
As for console "gamers", just lol, their obsession with MW2 is hilarious.
Agreed. I have Metroid Prime Trilogy and Resident Evil 4 both for Wii recently purchased waiting for me... but BFBC2 doesn't let me play them for long before I give in for some destruction.
And my FPS history is pretty weak, the MMOs were the ones that ate all my free time in the past. The opposite is now happening. Oh well, let's have fun while it lasts (though the unlocks system in BFBC2 seems to be very tempting for good replayability).
As far as I knew, most PC shooters have dedicated servers. MW2 was exceptional in this case, not the standard.
Anyway, BFBC2 has some things going for it no doubt, but I was saddened to hear about the lack of lean and prone in the game. As someone who leans more toward the tactical side of the shooter genre and not the arcade, this saddened me.
Yup, it sure is a fun one. Like with any game that comes out these days...there is a ton of whining on the official forums. It's best not to read those and try to just enjoy the game.
The addition of 'hardcore' servers is pretty cool. Essentially servers have this option to make it more realistic in damage - i.e. easier to die, some crosshairs missing, etc...
The other bad thing about MW2 is it depends on Steams VAT system to weed out hackers. There are no ingame means for players to boot hackers. So you see a lot of people using chams. Even when VAT does detect a hacker it doesn't boot them right away so you are forced to play with the dude or leave and find another game.
BC2 is good, but they need to get some fixes in for the PC verison and the game in general, but its 1 overall bug then some UI stuff imho.
C4 M-Com Fast-Blast needs to get fixed. Theres no strategy/fun when the control point goes from underattack to destroyed in 2sec.
For UI, just basics, save filter presets, add a few filters to the Play Now function, and add an exit game choice at the end of the round.
Lets Push Things Forward
I knew I would live to design games at age 7, issue 5 of Nintendo Power.
Support games with subs when you believe in their potential, even in spite of their flaws.
I've been trying to get a beta key for the PC on the website, but it's not working for me.
I've been playing the XBox 360 multiplayer demo and they have me sold. The only question is whether I buy the XBox 360 version, or save $10 with the Steam version. TBH, I'm not sure if my computer has enough ass to run it. I can run Crysis on medium setting at about 45 fps, so.... I don't know.....
Then there's the issues that people have brought up about hackers on the PC version and I'm wondering if I should spring $60 rather than $50. I was under the impression that this game had dedicated, player run servers which would be nice. But if I get a more drama free experience on XBox Live, I might go that route instead. Then again, If I buy it now, I can play it now.
..... Good Gods I hate making these kinds of choices!
Just because it's on xbox live doesn't mean there won't be cheating using exploits and what not, just look at MW2. Personally, I'm getting it for PC. Keyboard + mouse and dedicated servers is more than enough reason to pick it over the 360 version.
I don't have a fetish for either keyboard + mouse or controler. I can use both and have roughly the same kill / death ratio. It's even more of a non-issue on XBox live where everyone is using a controller. Communicating and squading up is also less of a pain in the ass on XBox Live than on the PC. Tracking my friends across multiple networks (AIM, ICQ, Yahoo / MS messenger, Facebook, Steam, etc.) and fiddling with a vent server are all way more trouble than they're worth. Dedicated servers on the other hand.....
Well, there's nothing like actually knowing your ping and having a deliberate choice as to your connection.
Agreed. BFBC2 is so good, its sick....
I just hope hope hope they fix that server browser. I mean they are on the verge of making a new FPS classic.
Dont screw it please!
I absolutely agree. Bad Company 2 is the next Battlefield 2 if not better. I've been playing BFBC2 on the Playstation 3 (Originally a PC player) for the last week and I must say it is fantastic. There have been a few server disconnects but really nothing to worry about since it takes 5 seconds to jump back into another game while keeping all your earnings from the previous. It will definitely be a keeper for a while, just like Battlefield 2 was.
