i finally did it!
I GOT DARFALL! such a shame i had to wait until after maintenance cause im only able to play for two hours and then cant play until sunday/monday. but i just wanted to share my experience from those two hours i got to play.
firstly, i had heaps of fun in the two hours. i dont know why people complain about the user interface, i found it easy to pick up after about 15 minutes. i picked up the two quests from the councilor (just like val roth told me too 
) and went out to kill some goblins. let me just say that videos make goblins appear easier then they are! i found myself running away after killing one goblin as two more would come and attack me while i tried looting the first one. it was exhilerating! also, i was surprised at how far away they can detect you. they would look like little black dots (maybe not that little) but they would be shooting me. gave the game an edge, in terms of having to plan out ur moves.
Finally finished the starter quest and bought myself a two handed sword, and then i was able take down 2 and maybe three goblins at once. that felt good. i still arent good at shooting with the bow, cant figure out how to account for arch of the arrow just yet, but ive hit a goblins a few times with it which is nice.
also, im pretty sure 1 guy was trying to bait me into attacking him in town. he kept casting debuffs or something like that at me. at first i thought he was attacking me, but he was a blue so i left him be. luckily i had done my reading up on the game :P

I'm glad you finally got a chance to log in and play. Trust no one, bank often, have fun!
I've been playing about a month and each time I log in is still different a experience from any MMO I've played. The nice thing about darkfall is you make your own fun which is a nice change from the themepark MMOs that guide you from min to max level. Good luck!

You are right, it is fun. Regarding mobs, if you dont want to get rolled by a group of gobbos break line of sight. Use a tree etc near the camp. Pop out to get attention, then back behind concealment, they will run up to you, in this way you can easily chain kill them one at a time as they come around to your hiding spot. Use food and potions as well, you can use pots in combat. The minors can be a lifesaver, the mediums even better when you can craft them. It took me about 3 hours to get to 50 herbalism to make the mid level pots, this while taking breaks to go gather mats. I cant stand grinding anything for more then a hour at a time.
Good to hear you had fun! 2Hander is definitely the way to go (at least it seems that way to me).
Goblins are definitely not the standard mob you see in other MMO's. After I kill 3 or 4 I heal up while racing behind a tree and eating some food. And watch out if you accidentally go gray. Just stop attacking and dodge the inevitable attacks that will come your way from surrounding players.

To improve your archery go to the UI and click on input, then uncheck the "Enable mouse smoothing" box. It should increase your archery aim alot, help me loads!

also with archery I find it's easier to strafe to line up my shots horizontally, and just use the mouse to adjust elevation.
It takes some getting used to....but I find it's very VERY similar to archery in Oblivion.
Try to hit the goblins in the back as much as possible....not only do they die faster that way, but it's good practice for PVP later.

When people want to bait you they hit you with a wapon, so they become grey, for few seconds.
If you retaliate chances are that the other player becomes blue while you are hitting him and this time you become grey, and if you hit him more than once, you won't become blue any time soon and end up being killed by the tower.
yeah...sometimes people sit in towns at banks and cast buffs / debuffs on people jsut to level their magic. Annoying, but generally harmless.
