I always thought this game was fun but I had a hard time wanting to look at my character at any point cause all the armor looked the same and looked horrific. Bare in mind, the highest level I've attained is like 25 or so, so it could just be the early levels, but is there any good looking armor at later levels?
Is the game still worth playing right now? Any end game content? Hard or fun to level in as solo, duo, or full group?

I played EQ2 for a while a year or so ago and while I certainly wouldn't say there were any armor sets that looked good (the graphics in that game in general are kinda blah), it was one of the most complete MMO's I have ever played and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Norrath.
With that said, for me personally, the opposite side of the spectrum is something like Aion that (IMO) has some of the best looking armor sets and the gameplay was boring as hell after level 30 or so.
I guess what I am saying is (again, imo), gameplay > graphics so if you liked the game I would say to continue playing it.
As to your other questions, there is plenty of endgame content in EQ2 if you are into PvE content and if you play on one of the more populated servers like Antonia Bayle, you won't see a shortage of people running around. Also, you can easily level in any way that fits your playstyle (solo, small group, raid).

Yeah I was looking forward more to good responses about the game still being manageable in terms of leveling and lower content and actually having something to look forward to if you reach the level cap.
Also, last time I played, there was a bug with weapon skills that I was reading about on the forums and it was causing me to miss my attacks nearly every single time I used them unless my weapon skill was completely maxed out for the level. I would literally miss 8 special attacks in a row (playing a mystic) and it ultimately ruined my experience for the game.
I'm assuming that bug has been fixed by now and combat isn't all about praying that you actually hit your enemy? All the other times I had tried the game I had never had that problem, that's why I looked it up on the forums and people were reporting it as a bug.
So there's plenty of raid content that people are participating in?
It is not a bug, if you aren't maxed out with your weapon you will miss alot. At later levels you need to have items that increase your skills. It goes like this 5 skill points = 1 level. So say your 1h blunt skill is at 100, but you are fighting a level 27 monster. You will miss alot as your weapon skill is only at level 20. And a level 20 character would never be able to hit a level 27 monster. The good news is, you will gain skill points fast and it should take less than a half hour to get your skills maxed out if you started from 0, I don't think that should be an issue for you.
Once you get to 80, you will need to find gear that gives you bonuses to whatever skills you use so that you can be more accurate and hit for max dmg or be resisted less, etc... Most of the boss/raid monsters will be over level 80, so you have to have gear that gives skill bonues, all skills that would effect the monster. Melee skills and casting skills
The game has an awesome end game. I really love EQ2, the game has everything I want out of a MMORPG, except the performance. Alas, the game runs like absolute crap, even on my overpowered computer and I refuse to pay money to play a game that is so poorly optimized.
if you cant max graphic you might have some fun tweaking till you get good look ,but me i ran this game maxed and men its one of the coolest looking, but remember it is a real gothic look.you wont see parade armor on fighting toon
i think they sell parade armor for look but you dont fight with those ,the fighting gear is banged up and look beaten up just like it would be in real life if you dont like realistic look then this game aint for you and if you dont like gothic this game aint for you.
me my only? is this!i heard eq2 decided to not release the new starting area if this is true then i dont see any reason to get into this game .its nice to hop on when a lot of other hop on the game also!
well EQ2 have become very easy to lvl in solo - mainly to ensure it doesnt frighten new ppl away I guess.
arnor looks.

and there come performance again....well can only say never had problems with it. with the exception of first week...in bad situations 2 weeks after release of new content, mind its a CPU heavy game and need absolute min. of 2gb rams.
I agree, it does look good, in fact I would say it is up to par with 2010 releases. And that is astonishing considering the game was released in 2004. The problem is it looks like crap if it is not maxed out. And I found myself having to turn off shadows to get a framerate over 20. That to me is unacceptable with my current rig. I can run every game out there at max settings. AoC I get 50+FPS, even with DX10. I run LOTRO max w/ DX10 at 50+FPS. etc..
I have 8g ram, a Core Duo E8500 OC'd to 4ghz with a HD5870.
The leveling is so fast in the game there is no reason to release a new starting area. You can rip through 1-20 in a 4 hour session. I would like to see some more mid range areas released, but until the fix the damn code I will just be doing the trials, hoping they get this game running properly.

Yeah I understand how it works, but last time I played it was a reported bug on the forums that if you were fighting an enemy equal level and your weapon skill was 1-2 points away from being maxed out, you'd still miss an insane amount. So far I'm already noticing a big difference in the trial.
Back then, I would literally miss 8 times or more in a row, repeatedly. It was horrific, so it definitely wasn't working as intended, cause I was fighting equal mobs and my skills were always a couple points away from being capped out for that level.
Ok, so I hit level 10 on my Mystic, his combat skills are capped out for his level, and now I'm starting to get resisted an insane amount again. Most mobs are resisting 2-3 times out of every 6-7 spells, and I'm fighting various amount of mobs. Is this just bad luck or is this how it's always going to be?
Well for me make lvl templar with maxed aa's the Armor really doesn't look like crap unless you got your setting down low if you do they would look shitty. On high my armor looks great the details some of them have are really nice and cool looking so this leads me to believe that you have your setting turned down and not on high or even the highest settings they have.
Also the higher you go you will see a few different armor looks the 1 I was wearing for looks when i left was like lvl 45 - 50ish stuff.
As for end game it is fun but really is not the easist to get into some raiding guilds unless they are looking for your class best class to be to get into a raiding guild is Mystic defiler inqs. If you suck at playing your char don't think you will have a good shot at gettin into on unless you know people in there. Most of the raids when I was playing were 1 person mess's up every 1 dies.
Lvling solo can be fun at times gettin a group to lvl can be a pain unless your in a good guild. Duo works great if you play the right class's.
Also for gettin resist's on some of your spells get the higher tier ones can cost some money easy to make up just collect shiny ? and sell them and go trasmuting and tras the gear you get and sell it. you can then buy yourself spells. Adept 3 or master spells helps a lot.
I think most will agree that the armor graphics in the game are bad because they're bad, not because of someone's graphics settings. I run the game at very high detail, it doesn't change the fact that the armor is horrendous looking. There's a difference between armor detail on low settings and armor detail on high settings. On high settings it looks bad :P

The armor looks excellent quality-wise if you play with character textures turned up, which really doesn't require a good system at all. I have like 6 years old processor and i can run character graphics on max even in raids (it's other things that slow things down). As far as artistic direction on the armor, EQ2 has always been very plain or "realistic" if you will. Recently they've started adding more WoW-looking gear with spikes and ridiculous ornamentation.
Personally, I think there is plenty of cool stuff, especially since EQ2 introduced appearance slots, so you're no limited to having something cool-looking also be functional - back before app slots, people tended to look terribad.
The cool-looking gear thread is ok. Personally I play a defiler, so here is a thread on the defiler forum of different defilers thorughout the world and what they look like: http://www.eq2flames.com/defilers/22314-do-you-look-cool-me.html
I think it's pretty representative of what's possible in the game (just for this class). If i still remember about this thread when i get home, i'll post a few current pics of my characters.
As far as your other questions: yes, the game is still worth playing, there is tons of endgame content (although new expansion is coming, so no one knows how much endgame content is in it exactly. I don't know how much fun it is to level solo. It's definitely rather easy to do and can be done via questing and such. But I've been playing the game for 5+ years and 3 toons to 80 and 2 more to over 50 and i really wouldn't want to level another one because I've done it so many times. But for someone that hasn't done any of it, it's probably fun.
The end-game tends to be pretty spread out, if you suck and are anti-social, you have solo content and pick-up groups for instances. If you don't mind joining a guild, you can also raid - there are raids in the game ranging in difficulty, so even a guild full of idiots can do the easy raids if they manage to all show up at the same time. The difficulty goes up from so only 1 or 2 guilds per server kill the very toughest mobs. Most guilds with cap level players are somewhere in between on that scale.
The guild I'm in raids twice a week (under 12 hours a week total) and we've killed all but 2 of the instanced raid encounters. At the same time, there are guilds that raid 4-5 times a week that have killed less or more. The only guild on my server that has killed everything has call-out lists and expects 50hr / week commitment. So that type of thing is out there if you want it. On the flipside, there are plenty of people in non-raid or in family guilds that raid with alliances or other guilds and still enjoy the raiding part of the game with minimal stress. Really depends on how good you and what you want.

Delayed, not canceled.
delayed when they release their expension?shouldnt asoe delay their expension also !its what make sale you dont release nice feature efter a boxed release they might as well delay box also !like i say no new area means no buy for me i ll wait!
The plate look fine enough, chain varies but leather and cloth could be better. You can choose whqt armor to show so it is rarely a problem when you are past 20 but the robes are still ugly.
The endgame content is currently massive.
Solo is easier now than ever (not good in my opinion, I want a challenge) but the grouping is good. Duo is possible as long as you do green things but don't expect to do a lvl 80 dungeon that way.
I would say the game is still worth playing, it is at least the only current MMO I have really fun in. The graphics is a lot improved now and they have added multi processor support.
yep i agree lookwise this game is fair i lot of area the only stuff that could need polishing in the futur is the look of their rock surface ,its truelly there the biggest mhe!as for armor look.the look eq2 chose is a realistic look of what could be made back then.if it was impossible to be made back then?then that look isnt in eq2 so check all the mmo you played and if it was impossible to be made in the say 1600 century techno then its not in eq2 !does it look worst nope !just more realistic!
Well I have to Disagree that the armor looks are bad well for Plate and some cloth they look good to be as long as you don't have your setting turned down chain and leather are not the best looking though.
Every can think of it different but this is what I think if you don't agree fine by me I am not trying to make you agree with me this is just what I think.

Starting to think this may be a trolling effort???????????
