We are for sure getting the Wii version sooner or later (thank God), I can't see this coming out on 360 and not hitting territories that would maximize profit (the west).

Edit; I'm thinking Monster Hunter Tri, this must be the PSP one that never came to the states either. Still can't see it only selling in Japan, where the 360 is the least favorite console.

Re-Edit; they even had an MMO of this game? Jeez, I'm clueless tonight.

Actually this is a port of the Pay to Play PC version of the game. As far as I know, MHF is still live in Japan and Korea.

    hmmmm.........

If the game is still live on the PC, then why release it for the least popular console in Japan?

Maybe we will see this on in the west after all

I wouldn't get my hopes up about this game coming to the west. Capcom has confirmed this announcement is for Japan only. If Capcom was porting this to the 360 with the intend to bring it to the west, they would have announced it for the west as well.

The reason its coming to the Xbox 360 is because the architecture of the 360 is very similar to a PC. Its cheap and easy to port it to the Xbox 360.

Monster Hunter is a franchise that never really caught on in the west despite being incredibly popular in Japan. This is because, at least in my opinion, Monster Hunter has always been the right game on the wrong platform. It didn't do well on the Playstation 2 due to its lacking online functionality. The PSP games are popular in Japan because people play handhelds in public more often. They also have these meetup places where people just hang out and play Monster Hunter. We don't really have that in west and western gamers don't really play online on the PSP as much. I heard the latest PSP Monster Hunter doesn't even have online play in the west.

It doesn't look like this will change anytime soon. If you're interested in online play, you're probably more interested in PC gaming, Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 but for some reason Capcom releases Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii in the west, yet Monster Hunter Frontier, released for the PC and soon the Xbox 360 will remain only in Japan.

This doesn't make any sense. Phantasy Star Universe is still doing well on the Xbox 360.

In my opinion, Monster Hunter will not become a big franchise in the west as long as its not released on the right platforms.

Its great that Capcom is spreading the Monster Hunter love but maybe its best this stays in Japan.

The Western fans of MH are thin enough and an enhanced port of a 2007 PC game which itself was an enhanced port of a 2006 PS2 game will do little to grow the MH fan base.

Hope the money hats for the name was worth it Microsoft.

MH is officially cult classic in the US, anyone who actually had their hands on it generally had something good to say, but yes, very few overall got to play it. It's like the Rocky Horror Picture Show of PS2 games.

I disagree. I think Monster Hunter has the potential to grow as long as its released on the right platform. Releasing it on platforms that have small online communities isn't going to help.

Yes it an enhanced port of a Playstation 2 game, but so are Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe, those continue to do fine. Phantasy Star Universe on the Xbox 360 outlived its Playstation 2 and PC counterparts.

It looks like this game might just make it west after all.....

But Inafune isn't being very specific either. He might just be talking about Korean and Chinese releases.
