Thinking of buying

RhyoinRhyoin Member Posts: 56

So recently I've gotten the urge to get back into mmo's. I beta tested this game and I thought it was pretty fun.  Can anyone that is currently playing answer a few questions of mine.

1. How is the pvp? When was in beta the pvp seemed really similiar to daoc which I loved. There frequent fights going on? big battles?

2. Hows the population? I keep reading on here and offical forums that people are leaving for several reasons.

3. Is it still a grind? ( this doesnt bother me, old school daoc was a grind )

4 Anything  added to the game since release?

5 Are bots really that much of a problem? Only nscoft game ive played was L2 and thought the bots were tolerate.

6. Worth buying? Im currently resubbed to daoc because theres really nothing else out there that sparks my interest. Unless someone can suggest something besides Aion or daoc.

7.Any other things that you like to add plz do.

I mainly want to get into the game for the pvp aspect.

thank you in advance.

PVP during seiges is pretty massive, however it's extremely laggy for most computers.

I haven't had to much trouble finding parties, but I guess once ppl hit 50 they quit if they don't start up an alt, i'm not at 50 yet so i'm not sure end game.

This game sure does have some grinding.

Bots have gone down dramaticaly in my opinion, i don't gotta block 14 ppl a day.

I'd say if you're happy with daoc, wait til Aion comes out with their aion vision patch, which expands the world, graphics, classes, housing, etc.

I think it was worth buying, especially because I had 6 friends play with me same time and leveled together.

I recommend downloading the WAR free trial if you just want a change.  Aion isn't worth it.  I would at least wait until the expansion comes out but it may be just as over hyped as the game was before it was released.  The PvP is really unbalanced.

The most unbalanced MMO I've played to date.    The game gets really laggy in 'sieges'  even with a decently powerful game.

Best way to sum up Aion PvP is that its more like a huge PvE game but with PvP enabled.

Thx for the response! Yeah I read about the vision patch and saw the trailer. It looked pretty nice to tell you the truth.  Maybe its me but on the offical forums all the post are negative and give the doom and gloom feeling.

I will be going at this alone. So mostly be soloing or if i got into a guild then guild groups.

Far as staying with daoc, that is an option. The only reason i resubbed was to see how it was with the new server.  Plus out of my mmo collection that was the best choice to go with.

Like i said though. I am interested in AIon.

Btw, how are the classes now? back in beta the rangers dmg seemed to be lacking and sorc were kings of dmg. Like in most mmo's.  How are the assassins?

i would be looking at rolling either a sin or sorc if I choose to get the game.

WAR be a waste of my time. The pvp in that game isnt that great imo. Played on release quit after 4months, Resubbed back in july and didnt feel like the game changed much. All ppl do is run scenario's, very little rvr going on.

ummm i don't know how it was in beta so i cant compare. but being a gladiator, i notice that sorc and rangers kick my ass lol

I'd say that sorc in flying zone can really gank like no tomorrow along with spiritmasters. Ranger can serious do some damage to some ppl, especially if they get the sneak on you. But my experience is solider vs range so I aint the best for this.

In my honest opinion I like aion but I find days where I just don't wanna play. I think with the expansion that will change, so I recommend waiting til then to get the FULL aion experience.

As far as Aion goes, and this is just my opinion, overall the game is fun. For the most part the quests are well layed out and easy to understand. Where i found the game the most lacking was in the representation of the Obyss.  After you get to 25 quests will be given to goto top, middle, lower areas. Reaching these areas is not as defined as it should be and can lead to some frustrating moments as you'll have to fly through rings to extend your flight time in order to reach your goal. However there are plenty of ppl on more than happy to help. I've found the player base to be very helpful in that reguard.  1 more thing, PVE content holds par with most MMO's as far as raids, YA, it's tank and spank to an extent, but the respawn rate seems to set as to make  the runs challenging and fun

PVP for me was was a blast at the beginning until ppl learned that camping the portals was much more succesful than Abyss...

Im Not sure if any has told you but Aionsource.com is a great place to find information out on aion. But if you go dont pay attention to the omg i got hacked threads a lot of that is the users fault but not all of them are. Anyways cant help you much beyond that as i dont play anymore

My personal experience with Aion. It took me 4 and a half months to get to 50. Which, whether people want to admit it or not, was a tedious grind. Then once I hit 50 I would PvP in small groups and rarely did Fortress sieges cause I would always lag out during them. The game needless to say is beautiful. Game play I enjoyed, just wish there was more content and servers with more stability. I would wait till they release Patch 2.0 with supposedly all new content, swimming and underwater environments, player homes, increased graphics, and hopefully increased stability of servers. Until then it's not worth the 49.99 and 15 dollars a month to play.

I don't know what games you are looking for, but here are the games I am looking at for 2010.

    MMOFPS/MMOTPS
    Global Agenda
Huxley (only cause it's F2P and I believe it will push the standards of P2P MMOs)

    MMORPG
    Star Wars: Old Republic
    Final Fantasy IX(14)

I am currently playing WoW, but that is the game I always go back to once all else fails. I suggest you wait for this years line up. So far the line up hasn't been too fantastic with the release of STO, which was an utter disappointment in the beta. Global Agenda seems to be getting good reviews and there is no fee for just the FPS/AH access (only purchase) and what not, to get the MMO aspect you have to pay 13 dollars a month. Most people are saying the AvA is not worth it though for the monthly, but the box price for the free part of the game is definitely worth it.

I personally enjoyed Aion, but I found the PvP to be something you have to work for, that is, you won't do a great deal until you are around level 30 give or take. The end game is also somewhat lacking though this is something I am sure they will address.

I would have to say give War another shot, I hear it's busier and population is on the rise again. They apparently plan on fixing ORVR in the coming months. Of course hearsay is all I can base that on.

Good luck with your search though, let us know if you do find a new home!

I think PVP in AION sucks. Because you have to run a long long way to find opponent, as if you taking a airplane from LA to Shanhai and if you died then you respawn in LA. Although there was Kisk (temporary resurrection stone) but it last only 2 or 3 hours. It is not even a camp in the enemy land.

From level 20-30ish, you have to wait and found the Rift (a random portal respawn in different locations) to go to enemy's land, and the rift is limited to use. When you enter enemy land, you will found the land is similar to your own, and you are surrounded by many mobs as well.

In another contested zone, Abyss, it is all about flying time, and mainly for the raid, large group people.

All and all, AION making PVP very difficult from finding a opponent to access to enemy.

At last, the economy in AION is totally under control by goldsellers.

Many people buying aion just because it is a new game (at least to certain country zone), and now most people just playing it until the next expected game to be released on the market.

By so far, I still think PVP in Warhammer (not Tier4) could be the most fun game I have played before. Pitty the tier 4 PVP map is a catastrophic design.

I think AION is a hopeless, disastrous, out-of order game because goldsellers already dominant in aion in every parts including hacking accounts, spamming chat channel, and block the entrance by individual store. This type of individual store only symbolize uncivilization and no law, no rule.

hmm...still kinda torn. There's nothing in 2010 that interest me. I wanna go out and get Aion, but seems like people are on either side of the fence.

I looked into Fallen Earth but seem's like thats in the same boat as is Aion with the playerbase.

What do you mean by Fallen Earth's playerbase is in the same boat as Aion's?  From what I've seen, and I've played both, Aion's continues to decrease while Fallen Earth's continues to increase.  FE is getting more and more popular it seems since the devs keep pumping out content updates.  I thought the game would suck but I tried it and enjoyed it WAY more than Aion

I played it, and then one day I just did not feel like logging in.

A week passed and then my account was hacked, after a month of fighting with NC Soft I got my account back, but a character had been leveled by the gold spammers that used it. Well they refuse to give me my character back, and deleted it, did not give me a refund, extra game time, or anything to compensate their in ability to secure the game or for the month it took them to give my account back, not to mention upon return it was suspended and it took two more weeks to get that sorted.

They care not for the player, their support sucks and as you might have heard, the people in the US and EU will never get their way because we are second rate customers, they cater to and work on what they Korean audience want before even thinking about us.

I have since went back to Warhammer Online, if you have not tried it try it. If you want more info ask in the Warhammer section as I will not continue the talk here in another games section.

I left because I didn't really enjoy the grind but if you dont mind that (and you stated you didn't) might be worth a try. PVP seemed fun from what I saw of it though ive heard its hard until you hit 50 as your unable to tell the level of your opponents.

    Wolfenpride: <--Giant fucking sword syndrome.

Probably cause im trying to compensate for miniscule manhood.

Not to be the bad guy, but I wouldn't recommend buying for pvp. In my opinion, pvp is terribly unbalanced, allowing just a few ranged classes to be really good at it. Also, until you hit level 40-50, prepare to be ganked by bored high levels a lot. And of course, "real" pvp starts only at level 25 when you enter the Abyss, so that means doing pve until then and grinding. I don't know how much grind you can take, but I was pretty bored already before I hit that level and the pvp I got wasn't really satisfying. But then, that is my opinion, it might be that we have different tastes and you might enjoy it =). And if you already played in beta and liked it, why not give it a shot? Either that, or wait for some of the bigger releases this year that might promise some good pvp.

  • RhyoinRhyoin Member Posts: 56

well Im going to walmart for some groceries. I might pick it up. I did play all of the US beta and thought it was pretty fun. Although I didnt get a chance to hit 25.  If the grind is anything like the old school daoc grind to 50 that thats fine with me. If its like the darkfall grind of endless skills then that might get to me.

Yes, but all that did was allow hacking and botting along with spamming to run rampant, now they seem to be banning innocent players at random without checking them first.

Well I hated GG. Never liked win7 least in beta. But thats no good on the banning of random people. But ncsoft track record they always had hackers, gold farmers esp back in l2
