Pallys get invulnerability spells, mixed in with various heals, AND last but not least, "Lay on Hands" (uses the rest of MP to heal the max of the pally's HP). So basically, a pally can use invulnerability spells, heal himself for quite a while, use MP regen buff, and when he finally runs out of MP, he can use Lay on Hands, to heal himself to full.
This means, you gotta damn near kill a pally quite a few times before you can actually kill him. Im guessing this is wat "Pally lives" means x.X;

That's exactly what Pally lives are.
They are like Priests on steroids cause they get to use strong weapons and wear Plate at level 40, like a warrior.
And we get a free mount at Level 40 too, an extra life if we really have to run away quickly too! woot
try playing paladin (without bb in daoc then) paladin has never been overpowered ever, prolly the single most nerfed class in mmo.
also just because i have only just joined this mmorpg community you think you can tell me , i dont pipe up often, my ideal char would be a dwarf hunter, ive played camelot too much so i want to play somet overpowered, skyfall(sorc) was overpowered, my shammy is rp
When fighting a pally, there are phases that you have to go through. The invulnerability phase, the healing phase, and the final Lay of Hands phase. Unless of course they have a Mana potion, if you get to the last phase you are almost guarenteed a kill. If they do, your pretty much screwed.

as in, every duel is a console rpg final boss battle.
Luckily, tho, there are a few ways to kill Pally, still.
Goofy one: Priest mind control, drop him off cliff or into a pit of lava LOL
Mana drain works. Fear + mana drain works wonders. Rogue "Kick" (10 second cooldown, cant cast another spell of that type for 5 seconds), then when he tries to heal again, "Gouge" (4-5 second stun). Rinse and repeat!
Fights vs pallys take a helluva long time, and you must be patient vs them. They have very high defence, high hp, and will take a long time to take down. If you mess up, you will find yourself dead.
Also, many ppl play Paladin becuz everyone says they are overpowered. They then think that just being Paladin will make them unbeatable, even if they dont use a wide variety of their abilities.
Paladins have 2 shield spells, plus lay on hands. As has been said before they can heal up while shielded. So this gives them 3 lives. However lay on hands is on a hour timer so in a prolonged pvp situation (not dueling) it is really of little use.
People are guilty of thinking the current dueling situation as what pvp will be like.
Beating paladins is not that hard though. They have no range and their dps sucks. That is why they need so many lives.

Stealth - Ambush - Hemorrhage - Sinister Strike x2 - Cold Blood - Eviscerate - Vanish - Preparation - Cold Blood - Ambush - ... you're dead! :P
I prefer to think of Paladins as an overpowered Priest/Warrior hybrid.
