However you want to rate it is fine. Whether you want to look for restricted, unrestricted, gameplay, combat, just your opinion on which game has the best PvP ever for an MMO.
Don't just choose your favorite game, choose the one that had the best pvp.

Lineage 2 (private pvp server)
Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

I voted for DAoC! I thought the concept was good.
Ummmm Guild Wars?
I find Guild wars is more like a diablo and less of an MMO.

Guild Wars has some of the best PvP I have ever played. With over ten different types!
I wish the list was longer than 10 options
I second the Guild wars vote. I have a good amount of exp with both PVP and PVP in guild wars. The reason I give it thi vote is PVP is awesome on there. You just walk through a PVP portal everything is random and you are in the middle of a zone war. The action is very fast, and when you get a good group you can run for quite some time.
Ragnarok Online. It had its balance issues but it was insanely fun in all its forms, especially in the serverwide War of Emperium events that were held two times a week.
Warhammer Online. While the game itself was a flop and anything but a supercomputer crumbled in big city sieges, I felt it was really balanced and rolls were well filled out.
How do you have a poll about MMO PvP and not have Asheron's Call in it? It was one of the first and best FFA PvP in a 3D MMO, with fps-style combat.
Anyways, my vote for FFA PvP is AC1, RvR is DAOC, general BG PvP is WoW.

There are 2 aspects of PVP:
The PVP system as set of rules and combat system.
Both are quite different things having different preferences. Which one you ask about?

Rather unfair DF is not there, I voted DAOC anyway.
I think I made it pretty clear, rate the best overall pvp. No mystery here.

the skill system of guild wars really made the best pvp.
however as much as i love the game - i must say the only reward to winning is climbing the ladder.
ofcourse that just means that there are only important things about pvp, but still...
other weakness of guildwars is that it has no open random pvp which i think many other games have done much better.
guild wars 2 will try to use the same combat system with open world... which will imo make it a very good pvp game.
