Other than Golemizer, AfterWorld (may take a bit of work to play free), Entropia (not worth playing for free), and...my mind went blank...

You can also play EvE for free if you earn ISK enough

No because F2P + Sandbox begs griefers.

bounty bay is a free sandbox, but u'll have to use the im to increase some of your skills after a certain point(if u want that is)

That's what I'm aiming at, but ~275M ISK a month is a lot when you just got started :s

Bounty bay is not a sandbox, it just lacks content as for planeshift...well i wouldn't really recommend it, too many things wrong with it.

Naw your mistaken, i think most vets would agree that paying for EVE right off the bat is fairly hard to do and imo not worth it. Once you get a hang of the game and know how stuff works then it's a viable option but ye in general it is expensive.

Shaiya is not a sandbox and the game your thinking of is AIKA which also isn't a sandbox.

Ensemble will be a full sandbox, browser based and completely free with RMT benefits that can be gained in game...when it's out. Alpha is supposed to start on the 25th of this month. Active forum members get in. =P

Haven & Hearth is an awesome sandbox game. At first you might be thrown off by the Pokemon-esque graphics but if you can get past that then you'll really like the game. It's originally developed by two Swedish college students and has a pretty vocal and down to earth community. It's also 100% free, check it out...

I found it hard to get into personally and my poor fellow was starving before I found a resource-rich area in which to live. =[
