STO's Ship Interiors Are a Separate Instance---Kills Immersion!

In STO, your ship interior is a seperate instance. Right now the only ship interiors are the bridge. But once you enter the bridge, which I think you can only do in sector space, you enter a seperate instance. That means you enter a new area. You cannot see the space outside of the viewscreen. If there were any windows, they would not show the space outside.

In SWG JTL, when you entered your ship, you could see the planets and stars and other ships outside. You could pilot the ship from the control room inside. You could walk around and see outside the windows the star system as your ship moved.

In STO, nada. It's a seperate instance.

When they add more ship interiors, I hope they will make it like SWG's ship interiors. Can they do it?

It will add immersion and realism if they can, and it was done 6 years ago with SWG. Here is an excellent example of how it can be done. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IaC_x5n5DE

It may be something wrong with the Cryptic Engine, which was originally a superhero engine.

You should be able to enter the bridge mode just about anywhere. As for killing immersion, try going to your bridge with a Klingon ship; it's full of Starfleet officers manning the stations!

I'll see if I can get one of my fleet members playing the game to get a screenshot of it for you; if it didn't get fixed yet (I'm guessing not).

Interesting to know, sometimes we never know how much of a low budget quick release game we are talking about, I am actually baffled at seeing what SWG accomplished years ago that STO release this month isn't anywhere close of, I think I'll even play the trial as I never did play before, so I don't have the Pre-CU bias on the game (besides hearing it everyday on these forums).

I know it's SOE and all, but if I don't try games when a trial is out there and I'm interested, I'm not really a gamer.

The least they could have done is a bridge view as a choice, though I guess this minimum will be accomplished... someday.

Apparently the last patch fixed it; they said the release notes mentioned something about the Federation intruders being booted off the bridges. It was a thing to see though; my standard starting BoP ship had about half a dozen or more Starfleet officers busy manning the consoles.
