The above link contains the guild system.  As you notice there's a definite martial bent about the whole kit and kaboodle.  It does make me wonder how well a peaceful house can fare with this system.

I presume they'd require the assistance of another guild or house in order to defend from any martial attack.  Though such and establishment would need access to the room with the prime to properly defend it.  Getting such access without having to declare war would be preferable.

Though, I suspect if anyone tries to play the alliance like they did in UL they may need to fall back on that "star knight" practice AoE did a whole storyline on once in UL.  That is, having a cast of templars who act as the muscle to defend an otherwise pacifistic house if needed.  But from the looks of things, if a group of nonviolent people wish to take a house, its not going to be an easy task, unless one happens to just go vacant.  Though I suppose that is possible with house wars and failing to pay upkeep and whatnot.

Anywho a pacifist guild would be a rather interesting thing to see, though I hope they don't get too handicapped.

I think pascifist house could survive or even take over a house, IF there was an art like Peace Aura and Sacrifice that was available to the entire dream and not just established pacsifist houses.  But i've been wrong before.

That's it for this dog and pony show, the escorts are tired and the animals need to be walked.

That's the rub, http://www.reclamationgame.com/252.0.html seems to infer that house arts are still tied up with an established house.  And it even lists the 8 great houses as we knew'em in UL.  So there needs to be some means of pulling it off.

Oh well, I guess Lyra will have some sort of trick up their sleeve, I mean they do wish to cater to all audiences.  Though it will be an uphill battle for the pacifists it appears.

I'd have to agree here. Pacifist houses/guilds just arn't gonna make the cut unless they have some kind of think like the Starknights that AoE had. Well I guess a guild wouldn't have problems, but if they wanted a house or had a house it would be very hard for them to take or keep one without someone defending it. Either the "Starknights" defending it or allying with another house or guild and having them help protect the house.

A defending ally wouldn't be able to help too much either unless they had the same access to the Secure areas that the attackers get when they declare war.

Lets say the rubber chicken club declares war on PoR, PoR.  RCC busts into PoR's prime room and begins the tainting process.  Lets say DoL is an ally of PoR and decides to try to kick the RCC out.  They step into PoR and the chickens all slide into the prime room.  Does DoL end up alone outside and unable to chase?

I was thinking there are 6 different factions that you can have towards another guild/house. So this is how I think they might work.

Declared War - Just as it says, you are full out war with someone and it alows you to enter any area of their house.

Violent - Your Heartstone Guardians will attack anyone that enters the room that you are Violent towards. You may have more access to an enemies house then normal, but would not be able to over take it without Declared War.

Hostile - Your Heartstone Guardians will attact anyone that gets too close. You may access a very few rooms more then normal to your enemies house.

Neutral - Your Heartstone Guardians will only attack if attacked first. No extra access.

Friendly - Your Heartstone Guardians will not attack even if hit by a Friendly Guild/House (In case of stray fire while helping to defend your house) Friendly Guild/House can access a few extra rooms in your house to help you with defence.

Ally - Your Heartstone Guardians will not attack even if hit by a Ally Guild/House and would also attack anyone that injured an Ally Guild/House Member. Ally Guilds/Houses have FULL access to your house so that they may defend every room if needed.

Anyways just a thought. This would be a good way to have the Guild/House factions work I think. Also I am guess that only Advocates would be able to change the faction settngs.

Well as they list it originally, faction is decided automatically based off of the use of aggresive and protective arts on people.  Which could lead to some silly situations.

"Quick, we need to close our portals to HC, go find HC'ers and evoke deafen on them repeatedly!"

I personally would be more comfortable with rulers setting the faction level manually, but that's just me.

if that were the case, places where HC and DoL could go would be very limited, just from thier own actions.  All you have to do is just insult one of thier mothers and the whole house is chasing you with chaks.

How about the pacifists get an art that can throw people out of a room or lock a room down completely?

That would give them a nonviolent way of defending territory.

Simple and straight forward but at the same time it doesn't make them invincible.

As for specifics... Eh, that's what these forums are for.

    Lets get to specifying!
