as we know mmorpg right now is all grindy and mindless no depth like console games so click to attack is better. its much faster and easy and relaxing. playing wow and war is so frustrating and slow with wasd. also hate pickup window. i jus want to press 1 hotkey and pickup right away.
fps? ofcourse wasd.

Umm....What?
WASD forever. Take your point and click and go back to the dark ages.
Played point&click games most of my mmorpg career and after discovering couple titles with wsad movement and I'm hooked. Titles like FE, DF, MO are generally nothing special, but you simply change point&click to FPS mechanism and playing those games becomes so much better.
I was fan of RDFG before, but nowdays all I play is EVE, strategy games and old, isometric RPG's. I still like WASD on less strategic combat focused games and FPS's. Including WoW type of games.
as we know mmorpg is long period gaming, stick your face on screen for 10+ hours and what if you need a quick bite? point and click can do that. left hand grab sanwitch in mouth. right hand point and click.
while wasd all hands is used and no hand to do other stuff and dont you tired hand? all hand being used long hour? while point and click and jus click and watch relaxing. mob 5 feet away? double click and auto run to attack while wasd must used all hand to run up and once reach mob must command to attack.

SuccubusPimp, I think people tend to want to actually play the game. Why to play games in the first place if you are too lazy to play them? I understand though, if you say that most MMORPG's are so boring and challengeless, that might as well set a third party program do the playing for you and watch it while eating popcorn.
When it comes down to movment and macros I always find that having wasd as movment keys tends to diminish my favorite key combonations.
Now if its a fast paced game and I am alowed to rebind either the hotbar or any action to a key combo I lose the majority of easy(for me) bindings. See with point and click(not that its better) I can set alt/shift/ctrl-q-t,a-g.z-v as well as those keys sigularlly. That just leaves more options if say there is a rather large spell book or macro activated skill list. When it comes down to a hotbar and my right hand is on the mouse, 6-0 are just not an option unless the game plays slow or its something like rest or open crafting window.
I have found a number of key combos that do work with wasd movment but the set up macro wise is inferior to any point and click interface. That said I do think the wasd movment to be better to the point that I probly wouldnt go back to any point and click game but oh how I miss those macros!
One of the worst things I have found in MMO is when they only let you have 10 macros at any one time via a hot bar. Even when a game lets us remap those to any key stroke I still usualy have spells and abilitys that cant be on the hotbar. So in the games that I play I always insist on having specific actions tied to keys or to have the extended hot bar(hotbar 1-10) mappable even if they are not on screen.
BTW g-15s are CHEATING!
WASD is the only control scheme currently done well in high-end MMORPGs. It's not the only control scheme that can be done well, but the only one that currently is done well.
Doing point/click well is possible, but forces some pretty significant design changes from typical MMORPGs. These changes aren't bad -- and for many could breath new life into the genre -- but they would at least reduce immersion, because an overhead camera is basically required for point/click to be at all viable. Diablo-style overhead basically (or well...UO.)

I like a mmo to have both options.
Sometimes I feel like being lazy and just clicking around a screen with only my mouse.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP

Agree.
WASD forever. Take your point and click and go back to the dark ages.
And Agree.
Both, and have the option to change it. GW has both and it works out pretty well. A lot of pvpers will keybind wasd to their skills and use the mouse for movement and targeting.
EVE Online. I'll take that apology with cake please. =D
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.
Exception, Real Time Strategy games.
Both, lots of games offer both, i dont see the point to stick to just 1 when you can have both.
As long as i can walk with both mousebuttons im fine with either
you as a mmorpg player want to actually play the game? why play mmorpg at the first place when you can actually play the game in ps3/360/wii/fps/tekken/burnout? hee hee beat that!
mmorpg is boring and mindless anyway so why not get the best out of it by relaxation play? that is point and click. i only like wasd in fps.
I think you misunderstood the tone of my post, it was not be a jerk. There are MMORPG's that require focusing and thinking. If you disagree, feel free to do so. Did you miss my other post? It says I actually play only click and point games at the moment. In EVE Online I rarely even directly click which direction to go, just choose destination from a drop down menu, for example. Still it's considered most challenging MMORPG on the market.
Point is, is a game that doesn't require you to think much at all worth playing? And are you playing the right games if you rather play them very passively?
Unless its an RTS or an ancient adventure game, point & click is a horrible, outdated control scheme. Point & click always feels like you're not really in control. You're just a bystander. For controlling massive armies, thats one thing, but we're talking 1 character in an RPG here. A MMO isn't Starcraft or TotalWar.
WASD. Makes me feel like I'm actively controlling my character.
Never liked point-and-click, I always get the nagging feeling that my avatar is just going to rotate to the camera and say, "You know what? .. SCREW YOU." Too passive. Too disconnected. Too unresponsive.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
The tone of a post is all in the readers head and WASD for life!
All those memories will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
EVE Online. I'll take that apology with cake please. =D
And I have been shamelessly playing it the past few days and enjoying it for the first time ever, so I will give a half apology only because I am not constanly point and clicking, its more of a click on menu to go here 95% of the time. Completely different game feel and everything from the standard MMORPG format.
Eh ? It's like asking do you prefer chocalate cake (WASD) or a poop cake (point and click) ! A point and click mmo will never see my money.
