For everyone on the fence about trying this game...
It is honestly the best decision I've made. I'm having the most fun in and MMO since back in the day with UO. I've been playing non stop for the past two weeks and just joined a guild. So many people on these forums are saying that they are considering the game. I'm just here to say that I took the plunge and I'm having a great time even with the full loot system and focus on PvP. I promise if you buy this game you'll most likely end up loving it.

yeah, soon as I start vaction on friday I'm gonna pick it up and have two good weeks of raising skills and building up supplies.

first person view sucks. 3rd person and i would of been all over this.... and mortal online. And the UI SUCKS in darkfall. and yes i've played. I think it mostly sucks because it is 1st person view and you have to hit keyboard shortcuts to even use your mouse cursor
It's the best decision I have made in gaming since I left EQ for DAOC. I'm going on 3 months now and the addiction hasnt stopped.
Thanks for the welcomes and yeah i like 3rd person a lot but I don't know the first person just seems to add somethign to the gameplay. And the I personally like the UI. I wish i would of started earlier but I'm glad that I'm actually playign and enjoying the game now.
See, I find it hinders me. I am constantly fighting with the camera and the shortcuts to sheath and loot and skin, etc. Would far rather prefer 3rd person view and clicking on a toolbar, BUT, besides all of that, I find Darkfall fun none the less. Just wish I was fighting players more instead of the UI/Controls.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it can get me off track and make me mad but i still like it haha. I know you get this all the time but just have to say your signature is amazing

Man fighting GUI is a first step to fighting people. Only those who manage to beat it will have any chances to be successful in Agon. It's some kind of a test, you know...
I've been contemplating wether or not to get darkfall for ages now, I was very much against buying it after reading reviews etc. But looking at the gameplay videos and reading how much people are enjoying it...I would be stupid not to buy it. I understand the harshness of the game, but it's new and exciting at least for me, I can't wait to get started!

No you havent played. Or you have completely forgotten how the UI works, and how to use Mouse.
Also, you are only in 1st person when wielding a staff or a Bow. The rest is 3rd person.
Dont listen to this guy, he clearly hasnt played.

It is a great game full of depth and adventure. If things like polish, rough GUI, etc. put you off though I would wait until DF 2010 when they overhaul and update many of these things.
The only problem is that is more time you aren't spending developing your character. Darkfall has some really great character growth where everything you do raises some stat to grow your character. Running, swimming, mining, harvesting it all raises skills and character stats. You can play for a year and your character still will constantly grow.
Even so no use ruining this gem of a game for yourself due to something like a GUI. If you are unable to look past the little things which is understandable then I suggest waiting for DF 2010, but don't come complaining if you do and regret waiting so long.
Have to agree with the OP here. I was getting pretty burned out on MMO's in general, mainly because it was all so generic and "same old, same old".
DF really has been a breath of fresh air, and I'm loving it, even though I haven't joined a clan yet and I understand it will get much more fun after that. Currently working on getting some RL mates off their MMO of choice to try it out, and they're almost convinced!
To reiterate the OP: This game really does deserve to be tried out. It's not perfect, but it's moving in the right direction for sure, and it's completely different from the normal fare out there.
Im not on the fence. I would love to try it. But paying $50 for one month of play is not trying it. Once they get a free trial going, Ill be on it like snow in vancouver, err, wait.

But Profred is right if you struggle with Gritty UI's like i do you might want to wait but if you can look past that minor flaw (it's not really a flaw lol) the game opens up a lot. Skills, combat, crafting, sieging everything i have expierenced in this game has been great!

Fucking awesome game was Alpha, seriously it needs to be redone for 2010!
You'll get used to the combat in DFO, in a week or so it'll be second nature,

Hehe, I LOVED Alpha Centauri. Why they never made sequels to it or anything baffles me.

They announced Alpha Centauri 2 before Civilization 3... Still waiting <.<
