It's nothing too crazy, AMD Black Edition 965 3.4Ghz Quad Core, 8 Gigs DDR3, 1Terabyte Hard Drive w/ 1TB External, ATI Radeon HD 4800 1gig, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and Ive yet to slow it down. The main purpose of the rig is to be my IT Shop's work horse doing alot of backups, external drive hook ups, etc. I game with it a little, its runs 60fps on ultra graphics settings in WoW in the middle of stormwind. Ive never really put it to a graphics test but it does what I need it to do.
Ive always been more of an ATI fan along with AMD over Intel. If it does what you need it to and it costs less then sweet. I also do alot of custom pc builds for customers and with Windows 7, Quad Cores, 64bit ATI/AMD is the only way to go. Windows 7 is a very nice and stable OS, I was worried about driver issues, etc but I havnt had one gripe and am very impressed with Win7 64bit stability.
Built it all for around $800 and I wouldn't have it any other way.

It doesn't really seem like a workhorse with its settings. If it was a workhorse used for backing up drives, I thought I would hear stuff about HDD Hotswap drives, and Raid controllers.
I used to be an ATI fan and then I started using Nvidia cards. Much more reliable in my opinion. AMD and ATI just seem like a fish on land at the moment. Me and my friend ( a system administrator at our public library ) was just talking about this. He seems to think AMD is dying and I tend to agree with him. *shrug* only time will tell on that, though.
Ati 4800? Which one? And an AMD CPU? That was a mistake. Should have gone Intel, as the AMD CPUs bottleneck themselves and that is not true quad like the i7.

Had to start small. Considering most things are sata, Im E-Sata capable with 3 ports, I have an USB HD Connect that does any drive, any size. Pop the Side of the case off and 3 more drive bays allready wires ran for quick hook ups. Im all for raid but I couldnt afford 5 hard drives. I havnt really got established yet, as im opening doors march 1st, so the raid is something I put off till down the road. My actual goal is to setup a server with Raid and store backups that way. Just use this as the easy access on the fly machine.
start, right clic computer on that page there is a test from window, test it
mine is
processor x2 550 black edition :test=6.5
memory test=7.4
areo =7.4
graphic 7.4
hard drive 5.8
yes i deactivated paging file but it still afect download and gamplay.
but since the bottleneck are elsewhere and only one game did correct those issue(eve)
not worth the trouble ,eve will probably make a 64 bit client avail soon since they are 64 bit anyway .
hell last year they maxed at 900 player very laggy in jita this year 1700 player on the map is easy mode
but now they shutted down some server to do their thing so it might be a bit laggy once those fix are done it wont lag at all
but when i say lag it will never be the lag they had last year lol ,those are a thing of the past with the system they created
yep they had to create since they got some of the biggest server .ibm build those!
That answered no questions is does not make the computer a powerhouse.

maybe in two year well have sata 2 capable ssd but not now its just a number (sata)
SAPPHIRE 100258-1GHDMI Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card is the card I went with.
Nice card, that is the midrange ATi card of the current generation.

Performance According to Windows 7. All score out of 7.9max
Processor: 7.4
Memory: 7.5
Graphics: 7.2
Gaming Graphics: 7.2
Data Disk Transfer 5.9
Nice card, that is the midrange ATi card of the current generation.
4850 is a last generation card. ATI's current generation is their evergreen line of GPUs.
what, are you fishing for compliments? i mean, its just an ok rig. building it for 800 bucks is admirable tho.
Nah not fishing for compliments. It was actually supposed to be posted in the Nvidia vs ATI 2010 thread but I accidently made it its own but that worked out too. Its a nice system while not breaking the bank. Price Per Performance is always nice to see possible.
Ive been working "at computer shops" for a long time now, going on ten years. My current work horse is 2 motherboards slapped on some wood nailed to a wall by a bench. I use external hot swap sata hubs to do up to an extreme amount of seperate clones and virus scans.
Especially when its small shope, dont waste money on a graphics card or even case. That 4800 and ram coulda gone to more hard drives and tools such as ethernet to usb, ide to usb, hot swap hubs, extra usp hubs.. etc.
Haha gotta love out of the box systems. I agree with the whole walled mobos setup very nice. I sort of built this one to look flashy so when people walk in be like wow is that a computer or did an alien just shit on the counter. Gaming Case smoked out with blue LED's inside.
Also ive already invested in SATA Hubs, USB Ethernet, IDE To USB, SATA to USB. You did just remind me tho I need to order some PCI Wireless Cards.
I can appreciate that. Good luck to ya man, It can be hard starting out. If you got any questions feel free to pm me.
I started as a gamer with a need to have max fps to a guy that has 12 full time employees that love to play games and fix stuff at the same time. If I can do it you can,, trust me lol
