Heres my list of MMOs I want to play...
1. .......
Oh wait the genre has been shit since SOE ruined all their games and Blizzard called off World PVP in WoW.
More accurate list would be:
1. WoW
2. Eve
3. Aion
4. Age of Conan
5. Everquest 2
Runner ups: LotRO, WAR
1. WoW
2. LotR
3. Eve
4. EQ2
5. DDO
If they continue at the pace they're going I would probably add FE on that list within the next 6-12 months. DDO and LotR are poo at PvP but they do some other elements so well they still make my list.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Fixed.
The more realistic list.
Check out the MUD I'm making!
1) WoW
2) EVE
3) Darkfall (Within a year)
4) Fallen Earth (within a year)
5) SWG
Note: i haven't played EQ, LOTRO, FFX, etc
You can see my sci-fi/WW2 book recommendations.
1. Dark Age of Camelot - the PvP and breadth of this has to put this at the top
2. Lord of the Rings - Story line and immersion top rate, trait farming let it down for me.
3. Warhammer Online - this should be number one, but something is missing (however it has been improving as the years has passed).
4. Eve - There are some neat things in this game; however, at times it feels like playing a spreadsheet
5. Age of Conan. Best books every written (well for a young teenage boy). Graphics great but game play - sigh.
... and why the hell would anyone one put WoW on their top five Oh ok it's not that bad, assuming you like your eyes bleeding from the colour scheme.
1. WoW - Who can argue. The massive amount of content and 60% of the MMO player base makes this GOAT for the time being
2. Darkfall Online - A PVP minded players dream game. Best PVP MMO ever developed and it will only continue to get better
3. LOTRO - Solid player base and alot of fun to play. Only the lack of end game content holds this game back
4. EVE
5. Everquest - Another PVE based game with as much end game content as WoW
Honorable mention - AoC, EQ2, SWG, and Vanguard
Alright here comes my list:
1. WoW
2. Lord of the Rings Online
3. Dark Age of Camelot
4. Everquest 2 (until SoE ruined it) havent been back in a couple yrs or so and wont be neither (or any game with an SoE tag).
5. (struggling now so wont give a 5th)
Not played Darkfall Online (heard too much bad feedback and publicity to even care about it).
Not Played Aion (mixed reviews, but 1 thing everybody said was it is a cheap ripoff of WoW), why play a cheap rip off when you can play the proper thing?
Not played SWG, Fallen Earth or AC.
Tabula rasa - Pile of boring tripe. (since deceased after 1 year).
Age of Conan - lacked playebase, cummunity unhelpful, played teh free month, lack of interest to even bother continuing.
Warhammer online - played the free 1st tier part, found game unappealing and pretty boring after several days (about a week), stopped playing, big letdown (can see why servers are closing and game is failing).
EvE - sorry just didnt like it, plain and simple.
Dungeons and Dragons Online - Was crap.
AC2 played but cannot remember it, DDO was lame and Final Fantasy (11 i think) was shite.
Other Games i have played and found crap or very buggy that they should not have been released - Vanguard saga of heroes, Horizons and Matrix Online.
1 that was buggy, crap and fell way short was also Gods and Heroes -Rome rising, which was canned during beta phase (hats off to them as that was the best decision they could have ever made).
Countless other online mmo's have crossed my path too, whose names i cannot remember in both release, beta and propaganda-(canned before ever starting life).
1.Darkfall
2.WoW
3.Runes Of Magic
4.Guild Wars
5.Knight Online
Playing:
WoW Sentanced Level 80 DK
GW Eazy A K Level 20 W/N
DF Max Pain Dwarf
Played:
KO EVE SL RS WAR RoM EQ1 Allods OI
Waiting for:
Cataclysm
Diablo 3
APB!!!
GW2
1. Guild Wars - Noone does it better than ArenaNet. Its more of a CORPG but still a great game. The game is old but I have seen more people play this game than any other real mmo in 6 months.
2. Fallen Earth - Because it is different than the others and its a solid game.
3. Global Agenda - Probably the most fun game out there right now if you like fps.
4. WoW - Have to put it somewhere but the game is getting too old and people are craving for something new.
5. Take your pick because after the top 4 there isn't much quality to choose from.
1. Darkfall
2. WoW
3. Guild Wars
4. Aion
5. LOTRO
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
Okay, in general, I think the best MMOs on the market, not necessarilly my favorites, are as follows:
WoW (Nobody can argue, I've never played, but the numbers tell all)
FFXI (Great oldschool feel, great world, great gameplay, well polished, etc...the list goes on.)
LotRO (Great PvE, well polished, stays close to the lore, best community)
EVE (Never played but have heard a lot about it. Gives a lot of freedom...who can ask or more in an MMO?)
AoC (Best graphics, great music, fun combat, has great potential)
Now, what I would consider the best MMOs in my personal opinion are as follows:
LotRO (The best lore, best community, best game for RP)
AoC (Awesome lore, best music, fun PvP, great for RP)
FFXI (Great lore, memorable world, and...it was my first.)
DDO (Fun combat, great character building, different that your average.)
(*don't have a fifth favorite yet...havent played enough...)
PLAYING: NOTHING!!!
PLAYED:FFXI, LotRO, AoC, WAR, DDO, Megaten, Wurm, Rohan, Mabinogi, RoM
WAITING FOR: Dust 514
Just noticed I never posted my list.
1. Myst Online: Uru Live (never would have imagined it would be back)
2. Clan Lord
3. Perpetuum
4. Fallen Earth
5. Vanguard
Check out the MUD I'm making!
Wow some of these posts are laughable. LAUGHABLE. This isn't about what your favorite game is, the question is what are the current MOST COMPLETE mmo's. For the record I detest wow, but will include it in this list since I'm trying to be objective and not just list games off of personal bias or like/dislike of the game.
1. Everquest 2
2. Everquest
3. WOW
4. LOTRO
5. Asheron's Call
*** 6. Final Fantasy XI
1. Dark Age of Camelot
2. Ultima Online
3. Ever Quest 2
4. World of Warcraft
5. Warhammer Online
Most complete?
1. World of Warcraft
2. Everquest 2
3. Lord of the Rings Online
4. Final Fantasy XI
5. Guild Wars
If you want which ones I think are the best at the moment just switch my Guild Wars with Darkfall.

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.
OMG! Someone has a different opinion than I do!
It is impossible for these type of lists to have an objective base, it will always be subjective. Even if you think your list is objective, it isn't.
Although this is about complete MMO's I don't really care here are my top 5 faves of all time.
1) SWG pre-cu (amazing times, great community, very unique world nothing can compete IMO).
2) Guild wars (PvP is best out there especially GvG although gets a bit repetitive. PvE is not so bad either).
3) Darkfall (Very solid game, very intense. Too bad my comp is too shitty to play without lag).
4) Fallen Earth (Unique and fun).
5) Diablo II (Not a true MMO but such an amazing game deserves to be on the list anyways can't wait for D3).
1. SWG - As much as a lot hate it even myself at times it is the only game I ever consistently find myself playing and has held my interest for almost 7 years.
2. Football Superstars - A lot will say WTF but yeah its a football (soccer) MMO and great fun IMO
I don't really have any others for me everything else just doesn't deserve to be on a list.
