Out of the 19 mmo's ive played this is by far the most engrossing and enthralling one to date. in just the beta ive spent more time playing and staying with this game that all but one other mmo on my list. this is the only one also that i preorder after i got into beta and enjoyed it so much.
The combat system just draws you in, the different mobs have different tactics that work on them. the basic attacks out number any of the other mmo's ive played. and with the I.S./P.P. expenditure the number grows even more. the styles also very depending on what you want. I went for martial arts, each of the three styles are very different and well it feels great just saying i know kung fu.
Coding/crafting is fun not insane hrs of must find best resources(WoW/SWG) or anything of that nature, have been a crafter in most of the games that have offered it and this one not a serious grind as in SWG, nor is it frustrating to the level that crafting was in EQ2. The shear amount of clothing that can be crafted is another great factor so many things and not just clothing either abilities, tools and consumables almost everything you can make and thats again just great.
The community is hands down the best ive seen out of all the mmo's ive played and all the muds and online rpg sites. and to me the community is what makes or breaks a game in the end. RFZ enhances the community beyond belief its always playing whether im in game or not. But there are other groups in game like fallen horizons that hold events, be it fashion shows, raves and the like. Well all i have to say is that this game will have me coming back again and again.
Originally posted by Andrial infact, i take a deep deep insult inot these alagations. I am deeply hurt that the FRZ community cant come together for one perpous.
J-monster..... You seem like a prat. You've been arguing for months about how MxO is probably crap and now you can't even take that people are coming to post how good it is.
MxO is the first MMORPG I've played since The Realm. Anyone remember The Realm? Yeah.. long time ago. Mainly no other MMORPGs have even caught my attention. For a short while I was thinking about playing SWG, and then I realized that I should avoid it for the same reason I've avoided every MMORPG since The Realm. They're boring. The Realm was new and innovative, and unfortunately there hasn't been much innovation since then. Everyone seems to try and follow the same pattern. MxO offers something new and refreshing to the formula. With the community and the game itself at it's current state I'm looking forward to launch, knowing that this game is going to rock my face off. The Realm deserved my money, and MxO deserves my money, I can't say that about any other game.
RFZ rocks.
If you decide to play, give me a holla at farrenj.

LOL well, thats not all. I love Sundog too cus he is a cool dude and always plays my songs. His taste in music is awesome and my music library has grown twice as big since listening to Radio Free Zion. I have maybe been listening for not even a week and I have found myself making friends already. I try to hop on in between classes just so I can get some tunes in to help me through my day. When in doubt on a Math test I just think of Sundogs sexy voice and I get a feeling telling me that the answer is 42!
All in all I have had a grand time listening to RFZ so far and I hope to meet more peeps and listen to some more hot beats. For now Chodda out Peace!
So thanks to RFZ I got into MXO and it is the best mmorpg ever. I play swg as well and just made jedi. Well mxo is so much fun that I havent touched my jedi. Jack in Crank it UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IM A MAJOR MMORPG PLAYER AND I HAVE TO SAY THIS RULES OUT ALL THE OTHERS I HAVE EVER PLAYED, EVEN DATING BACK TO ULTIMA 3!
combat is great, wonderful use of a new engine. integrating AOL into it works wonders, especially when you get kicked out and need to gripe to your faction aboot losing information, clothes, or EXP. Having the chance to go and beat the hell outta some exiles within your first 5 minutes of playing is awesome, and not having to worry about if a spider or some thing like that is goign to kill you. CODING ROCKS, go clan uniforms!!!!!!
MxO makes me want to stick my willy down my ethernet cable, and have sex with it and make its children of zion, but then i remember what happened to my friend that said that about DAC.....
well im not going to bore the readers at RFZ on my sluttish comments.

wow. cept i was intrested in it but i need to upgrade my computer beofre its worth the time to play. but if you belive what you just said go find me some proof to back it up.
This game is good for only one thing...roleplaying. I see nothing else good, graphics lack details, city looks the same all over (coh should teach them a lesson), 99% of the game is combat, no social aspects besides a few radical fanboys hanign near phoe booths.
Where is the bar from the movie, where is the safehouse to hang out in and bake cookies, where are the places to go outside of the matrix like in movies (a loading area zoned to myself is dumb for a mmorpg). Where is my own personal apt ? Why cant I pretend to be a part of the system, ie normal job like Neo before e took the pill.
All I see is mission after mission after mission here. Role players knock yourselves out. I might be more interested in RP if the last two movies hadnt been so confusing and basically stunk. Maybe if the game left off from the 1st movie and totallt rewrote the story I'd be interested (stll would need stuff to classify it as a mmorpg though).

You know I used to think you just had some warped perceptions about the game but now I see the truth. You just want things this game was never prepared to offer you. You can't pretend to be parto f the system. Thats like the idiots who say they want to be a citizen in Grand Theft Auto., or a civilian in City of Heroes. Which bar from the movie are you talking about? Most if not all of the main movie locales are in the game. Be specific :P And how are we radical fanboys if we hang out at the phone boothsi n the game? (If this were true then I suppose I should be hanging out there -- which I don't.)
Social aspects are typical of the game, clubs and other hangouts. What exactly did you want genius? They plan on putting in Interlock Dancing, which is much better than any othe form of 'dancing' you've seen in a MMO then again I don't play MMOs so I can dance. I can go club IRL anytime I want. Graphics don't lack detail -- do some exploration. How much more detail do you want than the embedding of puzzles into the damn graffiti?
Whatever man your loss -- go back to WoW or whatever it is you play.
Although im very glad that MxO has created such a rp haven and all that, and im glad that a radio station exists (ive listened and i dont even have beta) this is all coming across as fanboys and girls having a pep rally. Very few of you are saying anything different from one another and very few of you are discussing the game itself.
RP is great but rpers can be anywhere, if i want to rp in wow i can because its all about human minds using the environment. I am more interested in the GAME that was created, ive heard more about nightclubs then any real game mechanic.
If this game is truely great it doesnt need a cheerleader squad does it? I think your enthusiasm is great but ask yourself... What have you told me about the game itself.
Every game claims a great community in the beginning, give me something more substancial. I love hearing about this game, its even making me consider buying cable instead of dial up because i know theres no way in... erm the matrix ill be able to play with dial up:P

Just search for it, dude. Not everything is necessarily on the first page of the forums either.
I appreciate what you are saying, that maybe THIS thread isnt the best in ones search for knowledge and that I should look at others.
But i only need to get to the top of page 2 to see that the posts are pre february 14. I am not interested in filtered pre NDA information, for obvious reasons.
I thought that maybe people that have been involved in the game would be dying to explain it for us heathens that have not had that chance...
I also dont rely on screenshots, nice but they dont make a game anymore then rp does, or at least thats my thinking.
I prefer player opinions over official sites too because they are obviously biased in that they want to make their game look as good as they can... just like a movie trailer, always the best parts.
I suppose I mean to say that I am frusterated by the lack of player based details about this game, if the community is so great, they sure are keeping it to themselves.

Actually, now that the NDA has been lifted, the forums at the official site are pretty rife with beta testers spilling the beans about the game--much more so than here. Many of the threads detail the cool stuff, AS WELL AS the problems the game currently faces, and are pretty informative if you ask me.
And you won't find any OMG MATRIX ROXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!! type posts either (yeah, the majority of this thread is pretty pointless, isn't it?).
Well, happydan20, I definitely feel where you're coming from. Since you ask, here's my view of the game standing alone, though I really thought that I covered quite a bit of this initially.
The actual gameplay environment itself has an incredibly good feel to it, in my opinion. All of the grunge of the MegaCity comes through in The Slums and The Barrens, all the exoticism of the International District, all the glass and steel of Downtown - it feels like a city, through and through. The enormous differences in one neighborhood compared to another is great - depending on my mood, and my wishes, I can play in any of a number of different environments, especially when you add in the various Constructs.
In-game transportation from one area to another is handled through a number of different mechanisms. If you wish, you can travel almost the entire MegaCity on foot, without ever experiencing a delay for loading a new area. Travel in this method is seamless, albeit slow if you're going any distance at all (though hyperjumping across the city is very pleasant and fun at times...). For longer distance, there is both a functional subway system with various routes and stops, and also a network of hardlines to take you from one area to another. Both the subway and the hardline method involve a brief load of the new area, but in the current beta patch, my load times on a new area are in the 3-5 second range - hardly noticeable at all, especially compared to some other games currently on the market.
I can't really begin to discuss the combat system without also talking about the abilities system - they're tied together in such a way that they really work in tandem. The ability to load different classes of abilities on-the-fly adds a whole dimension to the combat experience - today I can play as a "tank" with my dual submachine gun abilities loaded and get down and dirty with some mobs or other players...tonight, I might be in more of a mood to play a support role with a group as a hacker with patching skills to heal my teammates and throw in a ranged attack here and there. Or any combination in between, limited only by my character's level of advancement. And the differing fighting styles each carry a different learning curve, in my experience - fighting with Aikido skills loaded takes a whole different set of strategies and tactics than that of a Kung Fu Master, in order to be successful. The variance gets even wider when you move from ability tree to ability tree - playing a martial artist well is highly different than playing an Assassin/Knife-Thrower well, and neither one is anything like being a Virologist (Hacker) in combat. The variation allows me to play and learn different styles, and I'm always big on new experiences...
Non-combat crafting skills in the coder tree have recently undergone a very nice overhaul - I've only recently started exploring this ability set, but so far I've loved being self-sufficient when it comes to creating my own ability codes and such. Everything we as players need for a full economy is pretty much in place now - there are still some balance issues in my opinion, but that can be worked out over the next month without a problem I would think.
Are there things about The Matrix Online I'd like to see changed or enhanced? Sure. Luckily, the developers have been awesome about listening to the players about the game, and are still incorporating suggested changes and modifications into the game. But for my money, MxO is the most intriguing and immersive MMORPG on the market for me. I'm sick of swords and elves and pointless quests - I'm ready for The Matrix, and they are delivering.
If you have more specific questions, I'd be glad to try and field them, but I have to warn you - I'm already sold on this game, and it's hard to stay objective about something that you are rapt about...
Hope this gives you more of an idea of my views of the game itself, at least. I can't speak for any of the other players obviously, but I'm sure they have their own stand on much of this, and as always, I'd love to hear it in their words as well.
Happydan, I'll admit that even as I myself read back on my post, it looks like it's just a way to pump up people to play the game. The gameplay is cool, the community is great, but the game isn't too different from others like CoH, WoW, SWG, except lvling and mission issues. So maybe all these posts are a prep rally, but the true purpose was not only to inform people of the game, but to encourage people to have an open interest and check it out themselves. I've been reading other forum posts on MxO, and it sickens me how even frequent posters on mmorpg.com are berating mmo's and saying rather offensive things about games they have themselves stated "I've never played but I know it sucks". If you really want information on MxO, search the web for official reports from game developers and other article writers, not from the fans. If you just want a drop of sweets to spark your interest and try MxO some day, keep reading this post. But I think it's rather truthful what you said, this is pretty much a "pep rally" to bring more people and excite them. And btw, sundog, thanks for giving Happydan that information he so truly desired.
I must say that I truly appreciate your responces, and I feel your posting (sundog) was very helpful and covered a great deal of what I wanted to know. I have read about some of your contributions to this game and I've even listened to your radio station a few times, you certianly live up to your reputation. As much as I am loving this game I am sure my hardware is not up to the task, even my internet connection is dial up... But this may be the very game that convinces me to shell out the big bucks. I appreciate you taking time to answer my questions when you could have easily just taken offence.
I appologise for this color its not letting me use white, or at least the text is not visible.
