What class would you recommend for someone who has never played the game before. I am still on the fence about this game. My fears seemed well founded in the lack of content so I am waiting to hear the devs plans (they say a day or 2 and they will provide their 1-2 month plan for development). Wow, I think I derailed my own thread. Back on topic, are any of the classes more nuanced than the others or are they all pretty straight forward and fit for a beginner? Which class would you recommend in order to best learn the mechanics of the game the first time out?
Thanks!

THis is about the most ballanced Pvp game ive seen in a long time. But that was the point of the game in the first place :P
And ammount of Content is up to what your looking for. Its fine for what the game is. I personally will be happy with almost anything PvE that might be added, and for more Good Pvp maps.
Now all that said. you will still get games where your team are gods and work together, and games where your hearding rabid cats...

Depends upon your play-style really. Think of Team Fortress 2 classes condensed from was it 9 or 10? To 4. All of them are totally viable for a beginner and each of them offer up their own style of gameplay and fun. Personally I dig the Assault (Demoman/Soldier), and a vast majority of the population in GA play Recons (think Scout and Sniper) compared to everything else (mostly because who doesn't love playing a ninja).
"IRL is a pretty upstanding MMO with thousands of classes, a lot of PvP and even some pretty unique emotes and titles you can acquire. Explore that world first, then we'll talk about this virtual one."
Balanced, yeah right. Robotic class is OP to the full capacity, they have there own bot pets that can wipe out any player in seconds and they are the most used class over weak azz Recon class that just look cool. Recon class had power but people wine about it and got it nerf while keeping the robo class hidden away from the nerf hammer (Recon class was Robo class gran destroyer)
So if you want an easy ride to level cap of 50 make a robo class, your pets will do all the damage for you, all you have to do just sit back and watch.

Lol... wow, you must be a bad player... I kill them right and left. And god help you if your on the attacking team and have more than 3 Robotics...

Aw. You beat me to it. xD
Robotics are the second most underplayed class for a reason. The pets die easily (as a level 7 medic with the lowest ranking gun I can destroy all of the types) and when the Assault people come up with their invincibility shield on, your pretty much screwed.
Recons... dime a dozen for a reason.
It depends on your play style. I'd suggest an Assault or Recon class to start off the game with. They are fairly straight forward, damage dealing classes. The Medics and Robo's are a bit more difficult to play. They require a lot of attention to detail. If you like doing damage, your can eliminate Medic immediately. They won't dish out decent damage until you reach higher levels and have access to your poison and powervirus grenades, as well as spec'ing down your poison skill tree for death medic. *Yes, I play a medic*
So, Assault or Recon.
its not like ur commiting the rest of ur life to your character, everything is pretty straight forward you dont need much of a introduction to the game, for me it dosent really matter what i play im still gonna kill you.
robos are OP if you know how to play them, a assult is OP if you know how to play them a recon is OP if you know of to play them, do you see where im going with this?
If you got the skills you get the kills
The hardest to play out of the 4 for me was the Recon (partly because i used same keybinds as my support ). You have to do alot of switch from melee to ranged to stealth etc. I love support, mainly medic. I love out healing damage, then switch to rifle for the kill and i also win most pub games on medic. If you go Robtic, take "eye" with you in pvp so recons can't destroy your turrents and get a easy kill on recons.
