To stick with MMO theme the combat system of M&B should be taken by Darkfall devs, they even anounce in forums they do like this game and will try deliver same combat experience but to be honest they fail in this part.
And if you ever watch some Mortal Online PVP videos you just simple have to laught about it if you compare with M&B.
This game is fantastic, And what a Bobby Dazzler of a deal at 85% off. I recomend anybody intersted in it to pick it up just for the first time you ride into battle with a warband of heavy cavalry.....Awsome!
this game has so many fans within mmo community. probably the most popular single player game here
i just started street fighter 4 but later i will absolutely try this one
Playing: Rohan
Played (from best to worst): Shadowbane, Guild Wars, Shayia, Age of Conan, Warhammer, Runes of Magic, Rappelz, Archlord, Knight online, King of Kings, Kal online, Last chaos
Lucky it's on sale for 4.99 because that's all it's worth IMO.
You obviously have no clue about game design do you? M&B on a game design level is far better than any AAA MMO on these boards. So what if the graphics aren't great and the interface is incredibly dumbed down. The gameplay and combat really make this game shine and with the upcoming expansion that releases multiplayer functions I can't wait. Next time write something that would deem it worth only $4.99. You gave no reason why you don't like. And if graphics are the only thing you think make a game then you need a new hobby or you play some really crappy games.

Graphics - Ordinary
Gameplay - Ordinary
Combat - Ridiculous
I already stated my comment was my opinion, if you can't handle that then don't bother replying, makes you seem like a bit of a fanboy.
Not a fanboi just tired of people posting comments like yours without some backing as to why...otherwise it just sounds like you're trying to start a flame war. Yes, the graphics are horrible but seeing as how most who play would care less it's not an issue. Gameplay...I still wonder. It's a medieval sim more than an RPG. And it's a sandbox game. There's no direction really. You start with the training camp if you want and then go from town to town doing quests for them and possibly taking over kingdoms. The combat puzzles me because it's actually very effective. Mouse wheel to select weapons, left click to swing, right click to clock. Simple and very effective...can't say the same for some other games out there, that and you can fight on horseback (which Two Worlds tried and failed at).
Thanks for this thread. I took a chance and bought the game off the Steam.
I was really impressed with it because I just can do whatever I want to, which is pretty refreshing from other MMOs I've been playing. It's really fun and entertaining with interesting combat system. I don't really care about the graphics but the gameplay is just uber sweet.
This game has kept me up until wee hours in morning, which is pretty unusual these days.
Again, thanks for this thread. Otherwise, I'd have miss this wonderful gem for sure.
The videos look very good, but I have a couple questions:
Is this multiplayer? (I am assuming its not a full fledge MMO) but as long as its multiplayer (atleast so that me and my three kids can all play together, maybe on network) then its good and I'm buying.
And, is there a monthly sub or anything?

The game is fun for a few days, but its very predictable and repetitive.
AFAIK, its not multiplayer. I haven't played it in at least a year, though. I seriously doubt they added that to the game, though. If so, I will start playing again.
In to say, I bought this game as soon as it showed up on the steam specials, and I haven't been able to stop playing since. With graphics turned up, it doesn't look bad at all. The only time I could possibly see someone complain about them is in the map mode. Combat is solid, with a bit of a learning curve. TBH, it took me a few hours to realize why the game owns its title - Mount & Blade. Get on a horse, grab an axe or polearm, and sweep by enemies and chop them down as you fly by. Mounted archery is absolutely fantastic once you get the hang of it, and actually controlling your troops makes a rather large difference in how the fights turn out.
All in all, I was and still am shocked at just how good this game is for the price. To the fella knocking it above - get past the tutorial on the demo at least before you start judging. Great game, seriously.

Multiplayer will be added in their expansion Mount & Blade : Warband, release at 30-3-2010
As far as i know there wont be a monthly fee, but dont take my word on that.
I do see where Flem is coming from his bashing of the game: The gameplay, rather directly drawing inspirations from games such as Pirates and Freelancer completely lacks direction. Inter-faction, inter-item balance is often less than satisfactory. Many features seem unfinished even in their alledgedly finished form. In short: Mount&Blade is crude; its features are unpolished and the combat is fairly clunky.
If those are the only things you guage when rating a game, many of the extremely poor reviews floating about the internet are justified. However, what keeps making me coming back to M&B is the fun-factor. It's simply entertaining to aimlessly roam about and kill shit, build experience and train troops. The game's core mechanics ensure that it's an enjoyable experience without the need of an overarching storyline, pointless quests, or fancy features to distract you - because it's plain fun!
Besides maybe the Grand Theft Auto series, there are few games where simply roaming about and attacking things at random is a satisfying experience but I feel that's the case with M&B. I personally bought the game way back during its betas and I've played it on and off since - which is more than I can say about just about any MMO out there.
