There are in total over 80 servers now with I dunno around 700,000+ players populating all of them.. you can have up to i think 8 characters per server.. and you do choose what server you want to play on.. you can have characters on multiple servers.. i beleive the limit is 50 characters.. not sure on that.. its a great game..

theres 80 servers as said. yes you can play on any server you like. you can have up to 8 characters per server BUT if theyre on the same server they have to be on the same side (horde or alliance). When you make a character on a server he is stuck on that server, so ya, when you make a character somewhere he stays there.

IMO, if you liked WC3 and D2 you will like WoW. You're probably a Bliz fan and like their games in general like myself. WoW takes the art style and world of WC3/TFT and meshes it with a lot of gameplay elements similar to D2.

It seems that you really don't have any idea on what exactly an MMORPG is, which is understandable we all have to start somewhere. Like everyone has said before the character quantities are correct except for the previous poster, if you play on a PvP server you can't have characters on both sides of the Factions, but if you are on a Normal server or RP server you can.

Once you pick a server the chances of you sticking to that server are very high. I believe your thoughts are that there will be a sort of end to the gameplay or ending per say within the game per server that is why you said " so ill start wiv 1 server clcok it then move on?". For mmorpgs the world is considered persistant, what that means is that in a easy way there is no ending to the game, there is supposed to be a seemingly endless journey that you create while you play through the avenues the game provides. It is hard to explain in such a short post, but if you have a friend that plays mmorpgs, you should definitly talk to him about what the gameplay is and how it works.

The issue with selling gold on E-Bay is one that concerns alot of people within the mmo community because it tends to ruin the economy in alot of peoples eyes. What it provides is a way for people to get whatever amount of money or item they want that is being sold on e-bay for whatever they pay, because of this alot of people who have never played the class they bought(if they bought a character that is) start playing a maxed out character with a bunch of good items and have no clue how to play that character. It is essentially considered cheating and removes the inherant value of items.

You should really try to research mmo's in general to get an idea before you attempt the game, but it is not really required. I've met alot of people who have never played an mmo before and they end up just fine. You just need to be willing to learn on the fly and have an open mind.

Wasn't there 88 servers, well lasted I played it and they had no where near 700k accounts at the time.  Probably now they have 700k active accounts but why less servers now?

Ah maybe you mean 88 servers.  When its that high who cares to do exact counts.

mabey I misunderstood but are you saying if you have a alliance guy on a server you cant make any horde characters on that same server?? If thats what you mean thats completely and utterly wrong.

Then you're on a PvP server. As stated above, on the other servers you can mix them, I have 2 of each side on Silver Hand.

Okay.  Well, first off every mmorpg is different for each person and all I can tell you is that if you're into the World of Warcraft saga then try it out, it wont hurt you.  See for yourself if its something that is addictive or not.  No one can tell you that YOU will be addicted, but they can say they either they were, or were not.

    Good luck man

Just make sure you play on a low population server, Blizzard is the first to bring along the waiting in line queue to play an mmorpg rofl
