scientology
Most MMO's cost less than $15/month (usually $14.99 ) and the games you are looking for are either Everquest 2 or Saga of Ryzom, you can find links on this site. You may also want to check Final Fantasy XI or Lineage II.
yeah....final fantasy is fun to.........
my friend...shes kinda a little bitchy......cuz everytime she got a new MMORPG...shes just keep making fun and stupid jokes about her old game like Star War Galaxies Jump To Lightspeed....Final Fantasy XI....
gosh..........that is so suck + anoying
Everquest 2 or Saga of Ryzom
There's a free SoR trial for and EQ2 trial for FilePlanet subscribers available.

I dont know how much WoW is
$14.99 in US, 12.99EUR (including tax) in Europe.
I wish FFXI had a free trial . . I hear about it a lot . .
problem I have (with online games) is what looks like bad, normally turns into something I like . . and what looks good is not always what I like.
I do not mind downloading something and getting to test it our (free trial) but haveing to pay for something then find it is not in any way something you would like. that just makes it where I'll avoid any games developed by that company.
tard the only way you will find out is read the reviews or trey them yourself reason being everyone has there favs but you may not like. final fantasy is cool i hear but be prepaired to pay for extra chars if you want more than one and make sure you like pvp. wow level quickly everything else you might like eq2 might be best for you takes days to level like you want so you dont mind powergaming but no pvp. or go uo gone alittle downhill but 2d graphics pvp in fel houses that you can customize ok player base. daoc rvr like pvp but bigger good graphics music is ok take a medium time to level.
its amazing how many people dismiss daoc now even though its still a really good game.
I extremely doubt that World of Warcraft can be rewarding and long to level, lol. It is so easy to level, music is nice and gameplay is good until 1-2 months, then its over. The game has no rewards for high levels asides from Battlegrounds.
I suggest you can wait for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, but if you are desperate and really really really want something rewarding from long hours of play, EVE Online and Lineage 2.
---------------------------------------------
If you want depth in storyline and lore and a game the devs love then Eeverquest 2, it's slow but great game thats being impoved at one amazing rate! Patch everyday, adventure story pack out in march and 2 expansios a year! Btw one amazing tradeskill!
If you want a easy fast leveling, no depth, no content, crap tradeskilling then pick WOW! Its ok cause i find it relaxing!
If you want a COnstant monster kill lvl grinf then pick ff11! It has nothing new, wasnt even fun, horrinle play online login screen, horrible character creation, you have to pay to make more thna one character like! And you cant pick what server you want :P
If you want a slow paced but amazing in content and depth then pick eve-online! Noones the same as theres soo many skill! No level grinding! But its slowwwww. Has the most amazing pvp tho
Starwars galaxies is ok but could be better, so dont touch it.
City of heroes is fun for awhile
silly . . guess you just go buy a car without test driving it too.
any ways . so far 90% of the reviews are not reviews but flames about a person review or the game, and about all reviews are vague. There are too many negitive reviews about a game, and those that do not write negitive all they do is basiclly flame those that have written negitive reviews. you may, I say may becuase I haven't seen less, you may get one actual review out of every 12.
World of Warcraft is one of the best mmorpgs out there, Final Fantasy XI pretty good also. I don't really consider the free mmorpgs that good because the service is usually bad and the community is most likely terrible but if you pay monthly for games like World of Warcraft you get excellent service and community, so I suggest one of those 2 or you can try both.
The problem with this rapidly increasingly technology is that to keep track on the latest games you need to buy videocards and pretty soon a new computer in a few years. My family computer is 3 years old already and it has trouble playing this years and late last years games, so I'm saving money for a new computer to play the new games whenever I want, but not till summer because of school in the way.

FEEL THE CRAZE
that is so true . . that p2p games get better up dates . . but for the size the SOE is . . you would think they would have a free trial besides PlanetSide.
The only way a person gets a free trial . . is if they buy the game . . most games you purchase comes with a 30 day trial, then start the monthlly payments.
my personal opinion about SOE is not very good, they only will do a free trial when thay start to lose revenue from a product . . their intrest is more in makeing money . . wait what company is not like that silly of me to write that . . but still . . thing is when companies are losing a audiance the time periods on free trials are times extended to longer free trials.
For me the norm has been by day2 I know if I want to comtinue the game . . and by end of 5-6 days I pretty much will buy the game and subscribe . . but if I have to fork over $$ just to try something . . I guess I'll never get to experince it . . and that does not matter if it is a game or any thing else . . AND FOOD & DRINK does not count .
Final FantasyXI sounds interesting .. but noting out ther has convinced me enough to purchase the game
and War of Warcraft does too . . but same thing. I have read that each has what I would enjopy but at the same time I also read it has what I do not like . . I can live with the cons . . if the Pros are more to my taste, and most cons can be expected. For me what has ruined a game was not the game or the games cons . . but the players, and that would kinda be related to the games mechanics. Take FoM (open Beta) for an xsample, .tho it has calmed down the open frag fest, many players stopped playing till more can be done to curb that . .If I wanted to play a game like quake I would have played quake.
Free Trials now days is how I purchase . . got tired of the hype . . and find the game is not what it sounds to be.
PvP = Player verses Player
Ok look if your new to the genre the games mentioned are a bit complicated and not noob friendly. Not bad games but if you want to play a noob friendly game City of Heroes is the way to go.
Why is it noob friendly?:
1.Great graphics keep ya hooked.
2.Easy class system. Not over complicated and concise. Not a lot of choices here ill admit but like i said noob friendly.
3.Pickup groups are easy to find.
4.Almost zero travel time to missions.
5.Unique look to your character. No 2 characters look the same.
With all the mmo's coming out with great new features becoming overcomplicated you will find veteran players here too.Ive played a lot of mmo' and i just got tired of not being able to log in and just play. There are a lot of players with the experience to help noob's to the genre.
This is the game to "cut"your teeth on for sure, its a great intro to the genre itself.
Want to ENJOY an mmo?
Dont start a guild and dont be a leader or volunteer to be coleader or captain.
Just play the damn game:)
Based on what you said I would say FFXI for you personally however here is a quick review of a few.
EQ2, Good game, decent music. plenty of quests, reasonable leveling curve not terribly fast though. Lots of content and it has the flat out best environment graphics. Character models leave something to be desired. It is what I currently play.
WoW, Good game, Decent music, tons of quests, easy leveling curve. Fair amount of content, environment and character graphics are poor however, but this does mean those without stellar machines can run it well. Lacks pretty badly in the high end, but for a casual gamer its flatly the best game out currently. My wife currently plays.
FFXI excellent music, fair number of quests, about the same leveling curve as EQ, tons of content, decent environment graphics. Character models imo are far better then most any other game, very well done give a fair sense of realism as the faces do a good job of displaying emotions. I still play this one from time to time. I enjoyed the game alot, I like EQ2 overall more now but i cant seem to pull away from this game. Couple of downsides to it though, you cannot choose your server, but unless you have ingame friends waiting on you this is a non issue. the login process is kind of annoying, the POL viewer is nifty at first but after a while it becomes a bit tedious. Be Prepared to make an effort to use the ingame translator. If you dont you most likely will have a bad game experience as the japanese players who are the majority on most servers, eventually quit grouping those who refuse to try and communicate. However If you make a little effort to communicate you will find most of them very gracious and accepting and you will hardly ever be without a group, It does take some time to get known though. I have found through personal experience that the majority of the players who complain about FFXI, were idiots online and ruined the game for themselves. This is a game that I strongly believe that the player truly dictates what their experience will be. The music is amazing as well as I already mentioned, Far superior to any other mmorpg right now.
SWG, unless you are a Starwars Uber geek, dont bother. I like starwars and I play alot of starwar's games, but this one is just crap.
I have only played EQ1, EQ2 and FFXI long enough to form opinions on each. I won't form opinions on other games since I have not played them at all.
Having said that, here's my two cents on this thread:
A. It's true that everyone has their taste of MMORPG. Doesn't mean that all others suck, though.
B. You have to understand that no MMORPG, past, present or future, will ever satisfy all your "wants", or anyone elses for that matter. For example:
EQ1: First MMORPG I ever played. Awsome graphics for its time, okay sound, very good gameplay. IMO incredibly difficult to level solo (the game was geared for groups) unless you knew the hot spots to level, like friends of mine did. I like to solo, so that was one thing I had to get used to to play this game. There is PvP, but you have to log on to a PvP server (or fight at the Arena on a non-PvP server).
EQ2: Great game, easier to level early on, insane number of quests, better solo playability. However, complex tradeskill system, while it's nice, you have to grind at it for a long time before you start to reap the benefits. There is no PvP (at least not yet), which is great for me. This turned a lot of PvP lovers away from EQ2. Also, IMO very high system requirements. My desktop can run it decently if most of the settings were either lowered or disabled, and even though my system is not top-of-the-line, it's not junk either. There are other things I don't like about it, but I won't mention them here.
FFXI: Being a FF fan since FF1 came out for the 8-bit Nintendo console, I was excited about this game. Decent graphics, great sound, good playability. The fact that you can use a gamepad with it is IMO the best feature of the game. However, the menus can be a little confusing at times. I don't like the fact that you have to pay extra to create extra characters. The thing I absolutely hate is the fact that if you deactivate your account and stay away for 3 months, your CD key becomes invalid and your installation CDs are for all purposes rednered useless. You would have to go and purchase a new copy of the game to be able to get the new CD key contained inside just to be able to re-register. It's clearly stated in the manual. Bad business decision by Square-Enix if you ask me. As much as it pains me, I don't think I'll go back to this game again unless they change this policy. I have nothing really bad to say about the game, though.
As a footnote, EQ1 and EQ2 can be re-installed again as far as I know. Just try to remember your login/password.
The only other game I can comment on is WoW, as I have a friend who currently plays it, and he has played EQ1 and EQ2 as well. This is what he tells me about the game (in comparison to EQ1/2):
1. It's faster-paced than EQ1/2.
2. Graphics are more "cartoonish" than EQ2. This however, like a previous person said, means lesser system requirements, which is a great thing nowadays.
3. Tradeskill system is "simpler and more flexible" than EQ1/2.
4. There is a current unbalance in classes. According to my friend, rogues and paladins are overpowered. This may be corrected on a later patch (he hopes).
5. It has many quests like EQ1/2.
Sorry for the long post, but if you were looking for a somewhat un-biased post about which MMORPG to choose from, I hope this one helps you. I posted a similar (more descriptive than your post) thread asking pretty much the same thing. One important fact I almost forgot to tell you is that make sure you have the hardware to play the MMORPG you end up choosing. I recommend having a level or two above minimum requirements, i.e. slightly faster CPU, more memory, etc. No matter what though, get the best video card you can afford if you have not done so already. Oh yeah, and if you don't mind, post your system specs (if you didn't in your post, I didn't notice any, I could be blind), that will help people here give you better suggestions.
Good luck on your search!
piith what was that comment for?? i said read reviews or try them yourself. whats wrong with that when ever people ask these ?'s everyone tries to shine there game im saying realisticly hes should read up here and elswhere or just buys games and test drive them cancel before the first month is up if he doesnt like them. thats all. still dont get the test drive a car before buying it statement though.
okay I thought you were calling me a tard and should read reviews . . my mistake
my point about buying a car was . .
you wouldn't buy a car then go " hmm, this is not what I wanted" then never drive again, you would actually go test drive it 1st.
you could probably say games go $40-50, I wouldn't want to spend that much then go . ."hmm, this is not what I wanted".
