I have to agree with 1Up's review of the game. I enjoy many aspects of the game but unfortunately its repetitive and shallow. Starship combat is fun. Hopefully things will turn around for the game.

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care. Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
In 2004 when the review was done.. YES.. it was accurate, but EVE has made alot of changes.. Still not my type of game to play, but it has improved, hence being one of the few growing MMOs the past 5 years.. Can STO follow what EVE did and improve the game, that is yet to remain and one can only wait and see..
That reviewer was fucking pathetic. He gave it a bad score because EVE wasnt a "fast-paced space shooter"? And seriously, did he really say that dragging an item from one box to another was too much to bare? What a moron.

That was a terrible review spanning over only 4 paragraphs.
It mostly went on about the bugs (true, the game had tons of bugs when released) and that the game is not an interstellar space-shooter (which it was never intended to be). Nothing was mentioned about the vastness of space and how the game is a complete sandbox where you can follow several different type of career paths, from pirate to miner to trader.
Also nothing was mentioned about the complex, player driven economy and how you can craft everything from small ammo to huge battleships.
So very incomplete review I must say.
In contrast the STO review summarised quite well what you can do in this game. It is not much more than a space shooter and some ground combat capability and that is what you will spend 90% of your time doing.
Biggest problem I have with STO is simply the loading screens at the moment. Other then that I know content will be added, and polished over time. Do I have faith in Cryptic though, NO I don't but I still love the space combat, reminds me of Starfleet Command to an extent, just dumbed down.

I think one sentance, in that review, sums up what the game is:
"It's currently a very good multiplayer space combat game with questionable ground combat and mission design."
No more, no less.
Dont expect diplomacy, exploration or other typical elements you find in an MMOG like player housing, player driven economy, crafting etc.
The game is first and last about (instanced) combat and as such is very similar to Guild Wars when it was released.
A good review that doesn't sugar coat things.. Sounds 100% accurate to this day.. We'll wait and see if the issues get addressed and corrected..
Do you agree with the 1UP staff and their review of EVE?

This game is deserving of every bad review it gets and this one is spot on
