Open letter to those who watch a movie or read a book or have a dream about cuddling up with a Cylon, or whatever causes the inspiration to come here and post about how [existing ip] would make the "bestest, uberest, most hardcore mmo evah!!!".
Please from here on simply cut and paste the following as it sums up 98% of such posts. Feel free to actually fill in the blanks with the name of said IP, existing characters in it, how the themepark would follow plot points X Y and Z from the book/movie/anime/bowel movement, etc even tho it really won't matter if you leave them blank, it will amount to the same thing.

Ok, so here's my pitch and I'm so sure that it'll be a wowkiller that I won't listen to anyone who points out why it won't be a smash hit.
Anyone with half a brain already knows that [_________________________] would make the best, most amazing, coolest MMORPG ever made. It's such a blueprint for win that even SoE couldn't screw THIS one up.
Reason 1: I like it and think it's cool, so it's the best thing since sliced bread and we'll all play it. You know you want to play it, even if you personally didn't like [____________________] and thought it was complete crap, as a MMORPG you'd play and realize just how right I am.
Reason 2: [____________________] is a huge smash media hit right now and even tho it takes years to develop a game even close to worth playing, the hype will still be as strong as ever when it's ready for release because [_________] is just so amazing.
Reason 3: The setting of [_____________] has such a rich, fulfilling, lore and history that it would provide endless options for the devs to branch off into expansions, new quest lines, uber kick ass items from the ancient times of [______________], new races and such. This is proven in [________________] where in the [book/movie/tv show/etc] they always have an exciting event happening and it often has to do with someone's past, the resources of a location, the political motivations of good vs evil or the price of cheese. It's almost as if it's been scripted, that's how perfect it is.
Reason 4: After reaching max level you can be all hardcore and awesome and take part in the awesome events from the [book/movie/etc] and kick some ass for the side you choose. For instance you could [_______________________________] and for doing so you could even get [_______________________] or a kick ass [__________________________] like in the existing IP. Isn't that cool? No? I'm not listening to you!!!!
Reason 5: [_____________________] is just the coolest thing ever and you HAVE to agree with me about it or you're a fuking forum trollz and you don't know what a boobie looks like and I did your mom. Yeah, now you agree with me right.
Reason 6: By this point nobody's even reading this rampant fanboi'ism so here's more filler to make my OP look like everyone should think they should make a MMO based off this IP.

It's too bad this thread got derailed so quickly because the op has an excellent point.
The reality is that very few IPs would actually add anything of value to this genre. Very often I see people suggesting IP's which would lose everything that made that IP recognizable if it was turned into an mmorpg or just wouldn't work at all such as The Legend of Zelda or Mario. Other times I see people suggest IPs that have a very generic fantasy or sci fi universe.
Just because an IP can be turned into an mmorpg doesn't mean it should.
I couldn't stand to tarnish the good name of GUNDAM on that template...but oh how I wish an mmo of it would come out!

Too much work, I'd rather just dream of making the most awesome game ever and making thosands or hundreds of thousands in profit. The best part of it all would be I would be the only one running the game who made it! That is my dream, do not deprive me of my delusional half baked daydreams!
