I'm addicted to Bethesda Rpgs.

While I'm eagerly awaiting Fallout:NV and TES 5 I need something similar game play wise while i wait.

Any recommendations will be great.

Please help me I'm about to do the Knights of the Nine quest chain for the fourth time!!

Well, why don't you try adding a ton of mods to either game if you haven't already. Surely you can find some interesting mods to enhance the experience...

Otherwise I do believe you're out of luck for now. Have you tried any older TES games like Morrowind? If not, I'd highly recommend it. Mods are of course a definite must...

EDIT:  In response to the above poster: No. DAO is nothing like those games. If you'd played TES or Fallout 3 you'd know this.

I do play my Bethesda games with Mods.

    Just looking for something similar.

I've played other games like Gothic series, Two Worlds, Sacred, Divinity, Risen.

I also have the first two TES games since their free to download off Bethesda's website.

I was hoping their would be an obscure title I didn't know about.

If you want a different game, try ES3: Morrowind and it's expansions if you haven't already.  It plays very similar to oblivion, just a little older.  A few of the major changes are the fact that you can't cast spells with your sword out, there are more skills, and there's considerably more reading, since none of the dialogue is voice acted.  There are a ton of mods out for morrowind, with new ones almost every day.

I was also gonna say try out Morrowind.

Might give your your fix until the next bethesda game comes along.

    Far Cry 2.

Open World, lot's of action, cheap dialogues and generic story.

I decided to fire up my old Morrowind Goty edition for my xbox.

I know it's inferior to the PC version with its mods and better visuals but I feel like chillin on the sofa and relaxing in front of my wide screen.

I have no words for how this is the worst suggestion for someone looking for the same kind of gameplay found in Bethesda games . . .

Anyways, I've heard Risen and the Gothic series are fairly decent open world type games.

This game is kind of old but is (in my opinion) one of the best sandbox rpgs ever. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. You could probably ebay it for a few bucks.

Umm, screw ebay for this.  www.gog.com just got this game available for digital distribution a couple of weeks ago for about $6 US.  Love me some www.gog.com, but I'm always hesitant recommending their games here, but if you have a deep love for old school computer gaming, go there.

Besides, if he goes there, suddenly he can get all kinds of old school sandbox play.  Fallout 1&2, Arcanum(which, incidentally, was created by the people who created the original Fallouts) and many more.

Two Worlds -Kinda crappy version of ES game-play. A Diablo/elder scrolls hybrid would be the best description.

Divinity 2- another attempt at creating something similar, yet different than ES games.

Risen- a more hardcore version of elder scrolls game play.

Gothic 3- Another buggy game that has some fun underneath the hood. It's similar in some ways to elder scrolls/ bethesda RPG's.

You mean you don't have your pc hooked up to your tv? I love playing pc games, almost as much as I do console games, on my 42 inch vizio with my lazyboy recliner not too far from it

I think Fallen Earth would fit the criteria quite well.

My PC is in my bedroom.

Normally I don't mind burning the midnight oil in front of the pc but every once in a while I want to relax on my leather wrap around sofa and widescreen.

To the poster recommending Dragon Age that's more of a cinematic linear adventure. I love Bioware rpgs but I'm really looking for a more wide open type of game.

Seeing as how he seems to enjoy sandbox games and looking for a similar games I would suggest Morrowind, Fallen Earth, and after 6 months after release Mortal Online.

Well since I didn't see anyone suggest it yet check out Mount and Blade.

It's a killer sandbox single player rpg.

If you enjoyed Fallout 3, Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl may be a good choice.  You can pick it up pretty cheap too.  I got it for $5 during a D2D sale.

This.  Mount and Blade would be the best game for what you are looking for, especially if you've tried most of the others.  By far the best action oriented game, you can build your army, train them, siege ... and they are releasing warband at the end of the month, so you can have online play too.

    Do it.

Have you heard about Metro 2033, it's coming out very soon.

Also have to agree with the above posters about Mount and blade. Fallen Earth may be worth a look also, soz if somebody has already mentioned that one.:)

what about the deus ex series?Deus Ex invisible war is the most recent and the third one is coming out this year. It's a first person shooter adventure/rpg hybrid game.Supposed the be good and it's open ended. Also, You said you played the first 2 ES game? Why not the third one then: Morrowind?Needs to be heavily modded tho as it has it's problems and came out like 7-8 years ago, but with mods it looks MUCH better and even has mods that add AI behavior to npcs to make them like oblivion. It's amazing what mods do to the game.

I enjoyed both Deus Ex games. Still play Invisible war on my xbox from time to time.

I had no idea they were creating a third installment to the series, I will keep an eye out for that.

Right now i'm playing the original Fallout and a bit of Gothic 2.

I tried to get TES 1 & 2 to work through Dos Box since they are available off Bethesdas site for free but for some reason they run slow lol.
