Pre-order woes

JoyszeJoysze Member Posts: 7

So I walked into CompUSA tonight, walked to the games aisle, picked up my GW Pre-order. Thought to myself, "Whoa, they're well stocked" cos they must have had like 30 copies on the shelf. Took it to the register, girl tried to ring it up. No go.

So she called the manager, he tried, and apparently couldn't pull anything up either. So he went over to compusa.com, came back and told me, OK, the game is $50. So I was like, sure no problem. I'll just buy the preorder now, and come pick up the game when it's released. And he was like, no, you have to pay the $50 for it now and then they'll send you the game when it comes out. And I said, you have it listed on the shelf 'Pre-order $10' and he said, no, we don't do that. So I was like, ok, fine, I'll just go get it from Best Buy.

I was so ::::27:: No wonder they had all those copies on the shelf cos they're telling people they have to pay $50 for the game and not have the beta box! Like WTF!

That sucks, go to EB. You can pre-order for $5, you get the bonus pack and you can pick the game up the day it comes out... ::::24::

Hmmm, that doesn't sound right at all! :(  Could you please send me a message with the name and address of the store? We definitely want to rattle a few cages... I mean, "gently contact them" and ask what's up with this. My local CompUSA is just great -- they have the preorder and they're selling them like hotcakes. So I know this is just a store problem -- perhaps an employee training problem --  and not a chain problem. We have a great team who is more than happy to contact the store and give them a heads up on the situation. I don't think they can let you know personally that it's resolved, but you seem to have solved this by going to another retailer, and we'll enjoy resolving the problem with the original store.

    Thanks!

There are three CompUSAs in my area ( LI New York) and they are fun to visit, but I don't buy much there. All the computer parts are priced much higher than NewEgg so I buy from NewEgg... If your going to pre-order I suggest EB or BestBuy.

Maybe it has been asked before, but does anybody know where I could pre-order it in Europe ? All the pre-order links on the official GuildWars page refer to an American based company.

I could pre-order it in the States, but I prefer not to, because of the shipping and importation fee.
