You've been shopping around for a computer a bit and I know you've been reading these forums.

So, why are you buying 2 5850s instead of 1 5970? or even 1 5870 is going to out perform the dual 5850s (remember not many games support Crossfire or SLI). Crossfire and SLI are not worth it, it's been said over and over in these forums.

And even still, you're spending 3 times the amount on a GPU than you are on the processor. Which is just stupid, imho. At least buy the best processor for your money if you're going to be spending a ton on the GPU, then get the best GPU you can afford. And you're still going with 1600 ram, granted that's good. But, not when you're spending $600 on GFX.

Also, now is probably not the best time to start building an expensive gaming rig. When ATI has the best card on the market, then it's never a good time. ATI always releases the top dog, just before nVidia comes out with a new card the demolishes the ATI card. Same thing with AMD and Intel Processors. It's worked that way for as long as I've been building computers and I've been doing it for 10yrs.

    TLDR:

    It's terrible.

I'd say if you have the extra cash go for the i7 920 and the triple channel memory route. If not, that build is fine. At stock clocks the i7 920 and P II 965 are somewhat similar in terms in performance, in overclocking is where you'll start seeing the 920 pulling ahead in most benchmarks. The 965 is really no joke, the only processors beating it are the i7's and a select few quads. So for 100 dollars less there's a good bang for buck ratio.

As for the graphics cards, I'd wait for Nvidia to release their cards. Not because Nvidia cards will be more powerful (I don't count my chickens before they hatch), but because ATI's cards will go down in price and you'll be able to save yourself some cash. Then again, if Nvidia does beat out ATI they'll probably have their cards so ridiculously over priced that ATI wouldn't even have to adjust their prices. As you know, it's never been Nvidia looking to lower the market price. . . to them the more they can sell their cards for, the better.

Also no hatter, it's been awhile since ATI's been ontop the market. Usually Nvidia launches their line up first and as of the recent had to revise their chips and add performance because ATI has been catching up with similar performance. Hence the 9800GTX +, GTX 260-216, GTX 275 and the GTX 285.

Sadly though, you cpu will be outdated in six months.

This is not GODS BUILD, unless your name is god. Ditch the ATI Crossfire ALL TOGETHER. Get a nVidia card, they have been out performing ATI cards for a long time now. and remember also, Crossfire/SLI is not technically for higher FPS, its for higher resolutions on a bigger screen mostly.

The 5850 is not really worth it and actually can come in lower in ratings than the cheaper 4870. The 5870 is about the best, if not the best card out currently, but it does have a hefty price tag to go with it.

I also dont like MSI boards. I have nothing but issues with them at work and I always go with gigabyte mobo's.

If your going to dish out the cash, do it on a top end processor. More often then not, games will utilize this more than anything far more than they will your gpu. Any 1 gig card for around $200 will give you fine performance and you can use the extra money to put towards the processor.

What? The 5850 out performs everything.

Right, card's aren't built in a day though. When the GTX series came out, it absolutely crushed everything that ATI had. It took them 6 months to start catching up.

Come to think of it, I guess it's just a matter of perception. Whatever, imho nVidia > ATI * 1000
