aye, problem is if you get the trial, you'll probabaly love it, and end up buying the game, only to discover that the end-game is PATHETIC and quit, having wasted your money and given SOE more money that they don't deserve.

The first couple weeks as a n00b player a GREAT, but then once you become an advanced player and join a guild, you discover just how broken the game is. You'd probably even put up with this brokeness for a while, until it just becomes too much, and you quit in disgust.

I still hope they fix it, but it's probably a lost cause :(

My colon can beat up your colon.

    Don't listen to these people!!!

I Have Been Playing SWG for 5 months.

You Can Do ANYTHING , Build house , entertain, make guns , starships , clothes , food. harvest resources, fight for the rebellion or fall to the imperials. and now with the new swg jtl you can fly in space blowing other players up. you can choose many different combat proficiencies such as : Teras Kasi Artist (fist fighter) , Swordsman , bounty hunter, polearms expert , fencer , riflemen , pistoleer, carbine expert, squad leader , scout , medic and many more.and ignore those post telling you it gets boring after 2 days, cos it doesn't. If you get lots of cash you might want to build you're own city. On a planet of you're choice , you can duel , trade and talk to other players and (in the game, not real life!) you can get married, do anything you can do in the real world but do it in the star wars galixy (hence comes the name). Trust me , this'll be one of the best buys in your life.

And you can do ALL of it over time ... its not like in WoW were you are a druid from level 1 to 60 and if you want change you make a new character.

In SWG you can be a top crafter ... who changes over time into an UBER bounty hunter ... who falls in love and marries in game and becomes a master musician .. and who's wife divorces him for becoming a member of the Rebellion and one of their ace pilots etc etc.

You can be anything .... and your toon continually evolves and changes ... THAT keeps the game interesting.

A suggestion: DONT GRIND .... you will enjoy the game much more that way.

I would not suggest this game to you because your coming from FFXI which is said to have the best in game storyline in MMORPG's. Because of that I won't think that you will enoy SWG with its complete lack of storyline.

LOL ... did I miss something ? Star Wars having no storyline ? Errr ... movies ? Novels ? Comics ? Computer games ? Roleplaying game ?

Or do you mean that my character in SWG has no fixed storyline ? GOOD ! I want to write my own .. and change it on a whim if I want. I dont want to have 300 k other players experience the same storyline as I do.

The overall storyline is well know and only slightly modified in SWG (more aliens in the Imperial forces than in the movies, more Jedi in the open, TIEs for players are specially enhanced). What we make out of it is up to ourselves ... and I would want it no other way.

Not having played Final Fantasy yet ... what kind of storyline does the Multiplayer game present to the players ?

No I meant no overall game storyline that characters can participate in which was promised when the game launched and they started in the pathetic cries of Alderaan story arc bs. Final Fantasy XI has probably the best mmorpg storyline out there in terms of story related quests that each faction can take which will advance and change the game depending on which faction is more successful. This is not in SWG and if your coming from a game like FFXI with a story system like that I think many people will find this game highly dissapointing.

Then again I don't see what's so fun about making your own content like parties, fashion shows etc. That's what real life is for.

If the only player events you can think of are Parties and Fashion Shows, then you're right SWG isn't for you.

If you can't come up with having a Bounty Hunter Assoc. Where bounites are placed on PC's and other PC Bounty Hunters go after them or if you can't come up with a stroy where the Empire learned where Mon Mothma was and the rebles have to defend her until she can escape, you're right SWG isn't the game for you.

If you need someone else to use their imagination so you don't have to, you're better off with FFXI. I love SWG because the stories aren't written I get to make my own. I don't have to follow a script. There is no other MMO that I know of that gives you the opportunity to create your own adventers as well as SWG. It's not for everyone though.

I think the new stuff being tested on Test Center right now would be appealing to Final Fantasy friends.

The planetary control game gives purpose to PvP and attacking bases as Imperial or Rebels can decide in secret meetings to "conquer" lets say Naboo for the Rebellion or reconquer it for the Empire.

While those who are into storylines have many new tools they will need to create their own events :

    NPC actors

    Shuttle landings

    Home made race tracks

    Factional battlefields and recruiters

"Capture the flag" flags that count who owned them for how long and display winner at the end

Burning wargear to make a battlefield

Ships to make landing fields etc.

Droids that :  gamble, store stuff, hand out stuff ...

    Treasure chests

and then the SOE event team can concentrate on appearing as digital actors (like that visit of Vader or like Boba grabbing his man on the streets of Theed ).

Plenty of stuff to do my own events ... which means these things will be much more common than any hardcoded storyline ever can be ...

I am not sure what you mean.

SWG has a very helpful event team that on numerous occasions have helped to spice up player events and have organized quite a few special events on their own.

If you cannot get other players to help you, it may be either time to find a better community (on your server or another server) or to work on your interpersonal relationship skills.
